Planting Mukdenia for the October Blooming Garden with Help from ROBBIE! ‪@visitourgarden‬

Look who's here everybody! It's been too long. I missed you. Monty is beyond excited. He cannot. When he saw you, he made a beeline. Well, I just went shopping and I bought... Did you leave your car on? No, it does that. Oh. It's really loud. Look at your fancy car. Oh my goodness. Um, so I've got three acres. Oh my god. I'm sure you want to talk about it in your video, but... Oh, I thought you already got... Did you get a second one of these? This is the flamethrower redbud. Oh, I'm sorry. This is the hop seed. The hop. Did you get a second one of these? Um, so I think one of mine is dying to scale. So I bought this as a just in case. Okay. It was 36 bucks. I know, right? Now's the time. Now's the deal time. And I'm already down here. And you got a flamethrower. And you got a cryptomeria. Oh my goodness. I shouldn't... Because I'm sure you're going to do a video on this and talk about all this, so I shouldn't ruin it for everybody. Okay. So what are we doing? Um, I think we're filming plants that you absolutely love in your garden. Okay. And, um, if you've noticed, because you come to my house and you help me plant. So we just filmed for Robbie's channel. We literally did a video of plants that I'm annoyed at in my garden. I thought you were joking when you said that. No, no, no. It was actually really fun because I could complain about all the plants that are bugging me. It was a garden tour. Of plants that maybe... Of plants that suck. I'm annoyed at right now. We're going out to dinner. You're going to have wine. Okay. I'll drive. Or we'll have Jason pick us up. Okay. There we go. Okay. So, but before we go, this is what I had planned to do today and I waited for Robbie to come. We are planting. So do you know every month I do my blooming garden? Yes. So every month I do a blooming garden video where I plant something that is looking beautiful that month. And usually it's blooms. This month though, I found this really interesting plant called muck dinia. Aren't they beautiful? I almost picked some of them up today. Did you see them at Green Acres? Yeah. That's where I got them. I saw them in somebody else's garden. I can't remember. They're so beautiful. So they are zones four through nine, sometimes four through eight, but these are four through nine. And they do have a little bit of blooms during the springtime, but it's kind of like Heuchera where it's, you know, nothing, not the focus. I think that this time of year is the focus for these. Their nickname is crimson fans, which I think is completely appropriate. They're kind of like a woodland plant. I would say like a hosta alternative. You know, they get about one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, just so interested in planting them. So this is technically my blooming garden plant for October, last October, Monty, he's having fun. He's so glad you're here. He loves you. He just loves you. The other thing that I found was, do you have a Juga in your garden? I ripped it all out. Why? I didn't love it. No, don't say that. What kind of a Juga did you have? No. I saw it in your garden. It just gets like big and like woody and then it just kind of looks a little messy. Come look at this stuff over here. It looks really pretty over here. I'm going to prove you wrong. It's really pretty over here. I did not expect you to say that. I'm so excited to plant this. Shut up. Look at how beautiful it looks underneath the platinum beauty lumandra. Isn't this beautiful? How long have you had these ones in here? I don't know. Like six months. Oh, okay. That's fine. Shut up. They were beautiful in six months. Shut up. I love them. They're so pretty. These ones are like pumping. They're really pretty. Mine just like, it's sent out really long, weird runners and they got really like tall and like kind of woody. Huh. I don't know. Maybe mine just did something weird. Okay. Mine didn't do this. Well, I think this is beautiful. I think they're beautiful. I absolutely love them. I got more, more of them for ground cover. And so we're just going to kind of break off pieces of this and plant them in the ground. I can't believe you didn't like them, Robbie. I'm so... I love the way they look. You're so disappointing. You're such a disappointment. Anyway. I think I'm going to fill in spots over here, right? Cause I want that to be a little more full. And then I was thinking about putting them under here, underneath my birdbath, kind of all around this area. Yeah. Like not too close to the edge. Cause I'm going to put in a rock border edge. Right. So I don't, we don't need to go too close, but I want, I want everything covered. Do you know what I mean? Like your garden is looking really good and everything's getting covered with plants. I want everything. The goal is to never have to mulch. Exactly. I do not want to mulch anymore. Especially cause... That's a rough one. I thought you gave it the finger. Isn't that horrible? There's like... Sticks. Chunks in there. I know. It's the worst. Like full branches. It's the worst. Okay. Well, let's get started planting and then we can go to dinner after that. Perfect. Come on. Okay. So I'm thinking about putting the muccinia right here. Right underneath the... That'll be pretty. It'll be nice to have some color in here. And just kind of like a, like woodland, woodland-esque. You're so funny. I know. I'm going to be... Hello. I'll entertain the dogs. Okay. Careful. There's a pipe. This one? Yeah. Let's go around there. Okay. This is... This is that mulch that you recommended. I can tell. It's literally my favorite mulch. Do you still use it? No. Cause the garden's too big now. Oh great. i'm so interested to see how this plant's gonna do okay that's what they saw in tracy's garden but that doesn't sound right can you see um how's the garden looking here's a stomach isn't it gorgeous yes the color in that garden just so much color in there look how good that looks look how good this isn't that gorgeous it's so pretty oh yeah now you have plant envy and you know what you're gonna have plant envy when we plant the ajuga too monty you and your ball what are we gonna do with you things are so farty i know but they're so good i'll be filming the video right and i'll almost want to put on the video it's not me i didn't fart they're so farty it's nice how big this one is no they're great i love them see so far i wonder if the camera's catching that i hope so that's really good robbie yeah yeah but yeah i could not be happier with this guy i love it love it love it do you love it love it love it so how's your greenhouse it's good yeah it's so nice it's so beautiful okay last two and mr dog and monty's butt monty get out of the shot robbie i'm just gonna pretend like you didn't say what you said i love it it's one of my favorites i'm just gonna ignore you i'm gonna pretend like you never said it i have weeds growing in this do you have weeds all over your garden all over like what it's a new garden both of our gardens are new it's all over though it looks like i don't weed but i feel like i weed all the time all right done all right thank you for your help you're so awesome i do not know how you don't wear gloves i'm like trying to be like all strong like oh i'm not gonna wear i don't know how you do that robbie it's crazy okay so over here by my iceberg roses and my water fountain bird feeders i did the adjuga right here which i think is going to be so beautiful and just remember i am going to be putting a border of cobblestone along here to make it look a little bit cleaner so i'm hoping that adjuga will grow over the cobblestone which i will be really really pretty then we added a couple more over here to this garden bed which i think is going to do really really well and then the last or i should say the first thing we did over here is we planted the mcdinnia and i have to say this is my favorite i'm sold i need to get you got to go back yeah we should just go back to green acres right now we can go to another one no i'm just kidding you'll just have to come back and visit so robbie lives two hours away and uh two hours down to a great acres and then an hour and then another hour here and then oh my goodness this is this is another reason we don't film all this this is why we also haven't filmed in a long time yeah two hours one way and then two hours back it's a full it's a full day for sure it's a full day but we need to do it more robbie i blame you okay i'm just kidding i blame me okay it's not both our faults but the mcdinnia is absolutely beautiful i am super super happy with it thank you for helping me plant it's so much fun to plant with a friend i absolutely love it gardens right right you don't have to worry about drip you don't have to worry about where it's going you know so much better isn't it looking good just what i mean we've only been here for two years just what two years of addressing the soil can do it from completely because you guys run so much wood chips i know and they're definitely like broken down now yeah and your soil was brown yes i know gray and it was hard i know and you could barely you could barely work in it and this is i know and it was this time of year remember it was this time of year and so it's just at the point now where everything's holding so much more water it's not evaporating i don't have cracks in i know i was too all right ready to go to dinner let's go get my treat okay he says okay fine twist my arm what'd we get robbie charcuterie board charcuterie it's been so long since we've had a charcuterie board well i've had a charcuterie board you haven't oh i can't go a long time without a charcuterie all right you guys i hope you all enjoyed this and i hope you all have a chance to get in your all right guys you
