Monologue | Susanna Ninomiya

My name is Susanna Inouye, and I'll be doing a monologue from The Rainmaker, act two, in the role of Elizie Starbuck, Silly Jackass. You take a lot of stories that I've read in a hundred different places, and you roll them up into one big, fat, ridiculous lie. You think all dreams have to be your kind, Starbuck. There are other kinds of dreams, little quiet ones, that come to a woman when she's shining the silverware and the moth blades and the faucet. A man's voice saying, Lizzie, is my blue suit pressed? And that same man saying, scratch between my shoulder blades. Children laughing and teasing and setting up a racket. How it feels to say the word. They're all cut out of smoke, like my name, Lizzie. They're real like my name, real. So you can have your dreams, and I'll have mine.
