Sabine Winter vs Shin Yubin - WS SF - #WTTMontpellier 2025

She did well at the Europe Top 16 Cup in Montreux at the start of the year. Look at this semi-final. Oh, that's that forehand of Winter. It's incredible how inside this style she twiddles. Oh, solid defence, but she could only get to the centre of Winter there. And a very delightful pivot and fire in the forehand. Oh, and there's the forehand. That is astonishing from Winter. She took it off the bounce with the anti-spin so early. I thought she'd volleyed the ball. This one here, watch this. Make it a guessing game. The truth is, even if you don't receive from Winter, twiddling. She's always had this forehand. She put too much pressure on herself. Here, fighting as the underdog. Oh, and so clever. This is the perfect performance so far here. Oh, a backhand punch. Unbelievable. 11 points to 3. It was an absolute clinic from Sabine Winter in Game 2. Winter, who needs to keep that momentum. She goes long on that one, Winter, and she even finally has a... Looking at their last meeting, that was in 2023. Three more. She should play. It's about getting that right. Can't quite execute there. 4-7. Much, much better from Shini Bin. Struck it with confidence. She doesn't want to have to lift, backspin, and then counter. 4-7. That's where she's had the most success. In the crossover again, but she gets it this time. 9-7. Well, well, well. Perfect. 11-8. Sabine Winter. 3-0 up in this best of seven. Now a game away from making the final. If she does that, she'll be the first European woman ever. The world number 10, Hashimoto, who was knocked out. Can't put a foot wrong. One of the big talking points in world table tennis right now. She uses the same side. Why on earth is she doing that? Her lips right now. Germany recently crowned the European champions. Their 10th time. 3-3. Winning. Play it into the backhand side. 3-5. Rank outsider. She's surfing along. Wave of the French fans. Difficult for Winter to counter. 6-0. The weight of history hanging in the air here in Montpellier. Shin Yubin takes the lead. 7-6. Well played, Shin Yubin. 6-8. 6-9. Winter. Finally with a little bit of respite. Later the Korean. In this women's single semifinal. And that will come as a massive relief. Shin will have to try and... Absolutely mind-blowing. And through the fog. So the inventor... Pitches. It's been an unforgettable event. First edition last year. In the second of our men's single semis. Will Winter... Be the first woman. The first player through. Heavy spin is a good idea but... Shin is becoming a little bit predictable now. And I think she's running out of options. Made her mind up too soon. Nice one there. That beautiful shot. 4-7. 6-9. Korean looking for some divine intervention. It's coming. The first European woman. Ever. To reach a WTT Champions Final. The cold never bothered her anyway. An ice in the veins performance.
