What the U.S Air Force just Did Is a Big Solution for SpaceX & Elon after Cali's Gov…
Florida and Texas are no longer enough for SpaceX!
The company is now setting its sights on Silicon Valley itself. In a major development, the U.S. Air Force officially approved SpaceX to conduct up to 100 Falcon rocket launches from California, a major step in the company’s massive expansion plan for 2026. But of course… that move has already stirred controversy. After all, SpaceX and California have had years of tension.
So, who’s standing in SpaceX’s way this time? How will they overcome this new barrier? And why could this expansion turn 2026 into the brightest era yet for Falcon Heavy?
Let’s find out in today’s episode of Alpha Tech.

To support Starship’s rapid development in 2026, when SpaceX plans to transition to Starship Version 3, build massive new Gigabay factories in Texas and Florida, and construct even more launch pads, the company needs money. A lot of money.
Some of it will come from government contracts, with NASA, the Department of Defense, and other federal agencies. But the real bulk? That comes from Starlink and commercial satellite launches for third parties.
Just recently, Lockheed Martin publicly thanked SpaceX for successfully deploying 21 satellites for its Transport Layer mission, worth billions of dollars, saying, “Thanks for the lift, SpaceX.” Deals like this bring in hundreds of millions of dollars each time.
And with Starlink expected to generate around $15.5 billion in revenue this year alone, it’s clear why SpaceX is racing to expand its launch capacity.
And finally, they’ve done it.

The U.S. Air Force has just given SpaceX the green light to double the Falcon launch rate from Vandenberg Space Force Base, increasing the annual limit from 50 to 100 missions.
This approval stems from an application SpaceX filed back in January 2025, as part of its plan to redevelop Space Launch Complex 6, transforming it to handle much larger launch operations, including the construction of new hangars and major infrastructure upgrades.
The move is driven by national security priorities and the growing demand for government satellite launches, especially heavier payloads to orbit. On October 10th, the Air Force signed the official Record of Decision after completing the final Environmental Impact Statement, formally authorizing up to 95 Falcon 9 and 5 Falcon Heavy launches per year.
