Manchester City "Tick Tock CITY" Minute 7: 17 October 2015 Raheem Sterling

Hi and welcome back to the City's Intelligent Hall staying safe and well another episode. In our feature we call Tick Tock City yes and we're going to have a look at minute seven so it's a goal that was scored in the seventh minute. Yeah so it's a look at goals that City have scored. Time and importance might be very very important or we've scored many goals of and yes well to that most famous goal of course in the 94th minute the 93 20 and we've even scored one or two memorable ones after that time as well. And there's also goals like today that in themselves didn't particularly win us or lose us anything but may have ramifications for the season for the team or a certain player yeah and of course today we're going to have a look at a player that it did have ramifications for because he was a new player he's been booed wherever he went and played for us silly really but that's how it is and it's sort of a trait that continued with other players that have joined City since but this was a chance and he took a chance to further endear himself with the Blues fans anyway after what was a sort of stuttering start to his City career. So we're going to have a look at that gentleman today you've probably seen the thumbnail you've seen the build up to this so you know who it is but we'll talk about it in a minute please if you are new to the channel push that subscribe button push the bell notifications everything City Pass present and as long as I can keep going so it's great to have you on board if you do check around the buttons subscribe press that like button guys I'm trying to get up to double figures for these City vlogs so you can help me towards that I'd be very very grateful and please let us know your memories what game we're going to talk about today and your memories of the yes Raheem Sterling there you go the cat's out of the bag let us know your memories of course didn't leave on a high let's be honest about it but certainly contributed to many City glory days that's for sure so a seven minute goal scored by Raheem Sterling in his 11th competitive City appearance in a game against Bournemouth the Cherries at the Etihad on the 17th of October 2015 a 5-1 victory Sterling will go on to score his very first City hat-trick in the first half all in the first half 37 minutes I think he got him but not too bad going 37 38 minutes build up to the game well it was Pellegrini's last season of course we've made a good start in the league and sat top after eight games with 18 points Arsenal was second a couple of points behind us Sterling had already chipped in with a couple of goals one in the league one in the capital one cup although his contribution was being questioned early doors not necessarily by City but a lot of people but in his last game yeah the near 50 50 million pound depending who you read and who you believe Raheem Sterling had been embarrassingly hooked at half time yes this game took place after an international break and we beat Newcastle 6-1 bottom of the table Newcastle at the time at the Etihad the game before this and it was 1-1 when Sterling was hooked at half time Eddie Howe's Cherries were in their first season in the Premier League we find it a little bit tough but managed to point a game and sat 15th out of 20 away from the match of course was confirmation away from football that despite a campaign the famous set of Coronation Street was to be demolished I remember looking at the the original set from the 60s before that was demolished as well Stephen Fright announced he will step down from presenting QI and Sandy Toxford will be stepping up and taking his place Star Wars Episode 7 The Force Awakens was the pious grossing film of the year and second to that was Jurassic World I think they're redoing that one before the game Boney was still trying to find his feet he'd been with us for a few months and of course he came the previous season and not only was he trying to find his feet he was trying to find his scoring boots of course Aguero had no trouble that sort of scoring just notched five against that game just talked about against Newcastle in the game previous Otamendi was and the Sylvain Distan was returning to the Etihad well he was with Bournemouth in their starting 11 for this one the match itself it was an attendance of 54 502 the lineups for City of David Silva Aguero and company all missed this game through injury although not 100% company actually sat it out on the bench so the lineup City was Hart Zabaleta Mangala Otamendi Sanja Fernandinho Torre Navas De Bruyne Sterling and Boney You subs were Fernando Nasri and Iannaccio Caballero company Demichaelis and Roberts were all unused for Bournemouth they had Federico Daniels Francis Distan Cook Gosling Sermon Smith O'Kane Richie and Murray their You subs were Macdonald King and Pugh and Bally McGrew probably and on their unused substitutes you'd have to be old to remember I don't know what I'm talking about there they're unused substitutes Bennett Cargill Kermagant and Tomlin the goal yes the very important goal not a lot have happened actually Bournemouth started quite well but the goal as we know it's the title of this edition happened in minute seven the Guardian said about the goal Sterling's opener came when Fernandinho swept a diagonal ball onto Pablo Zabaleta's head he nodded the ball back into the danger area Boney stuck a foot in and Sterling hanging near Adam Federici's right post slotted the finish Sky Sports said Sterling's first goal came on seven minutes when a Pablo Zabaleta header across the six-yard box was poked into his path by Boney and he made no mistake from close range ITV Sport City scored from their first serious attack serious attackers Ferrodinos Crossfield ball was headed back by Zabaleta and in the direction of Sterling by Boney there were suspicions of offside they went on to say but Sterling swooped to tuck home from three yards yes and King of the Kippites mentioned that offside how is it for you Colin with Andy Longshore said a lofty ball into the area saw a great header from Zabaleta to keep the ball in play it was Boney stabbed at the ball and Sterling finished it from close range we did wonder if it should have been given offside but possibly the player coming back on the pitch after challenging Zabaleta played him on well I have had a look with my VAR head on I've had a look at the replay and it's a bit tight I have no idea but it counted so it didn't matter it was a seventh minute goal I think Sterling was delighted we were all delighted what happened next well all this these comments are taken mainly from the Guardian timeline on 11 minutes it was 2-0 Pellegrini's team doubled the lead this was an untidy affair Freddie Houseside back of his Sanya operation left back due to Alexander Korov's hamstring injury pinged over across Federici the keeper fatally split this and Boney was ruthless it was 2-1 though on 22 minutes Glenn Murray was a long forward in Howes 4-5-1 formation probably 10-1 actually or 9-1 he had seen close enough in the ball yet when possession came to him he ran at Elikim Mangala and defender stood too far away and he fired in a 25 yard shot so that was 2-1 but it wasn't long 29 minutes it's 3-1 the game's fourth goal arrived this time all from Sterling who was supreme Kevin De Bruyne placed a lovely pass into the England man who proceeded to skate past Steve Cook and Sylvain Distam before shooting beyond Federici 48 minutes into the third minute of injury time of the two minutes allowed so we've got away with a few seconds there it was 4-1 Sterling's first half parade was about to be completed referee Mike Dean was in his look at his watch territory with half-time approaching when Hart hoofed the ball downfield as Federici hesitated Navas received the ball and after creating space took aim the rebound came off Federici to Sterling one of those fates defenders hate he bought a fraction of second and banged the ball in for his hat trick Sterling said it's my first and I'm delighted I get quite a lot of chances and it's something I'll keep working on and hopefully get better at and it was 5-1 on 89 minutes so just a one goal in the second half and Boney yeah Boney did find his shooting boots made it 5-1 so that's two goals today as a neat collecting turn and place into the far corner sent those Blues left in the ground uh yeah a lot of empty seats at that stage 89 minutes a lot left the ground home happier me included the aftermath yes Raheem had become the 11th player under the age of 21 to net a hat trick in the Premier League era he would score five hat tricks in his city career and the booing well didn't ever really stop did it quite pathetic the win kept city top two points clear of Arsenal with a plus 16 goal difference to Arsenal's plus nine Bournemouth dropped to 17th one place above the relegation zone of course he would eventually but long term as far as city a league cup was our only reward in Pella Pella's last hurrah a four spot gave new manager Pep a chance at the Champions League for the next season as we feebly went out in the semi-final to Real Madrid this season and Pellas had played weakened weakened 11 as we went out the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge 5-1 in the fifth round there you go guys let me know any memories you've got of that day or i think it was sunny from memory now looking back at the replay of it so i'm not too bad for october but uh let me know any memories you've got of that and thanks for joining me for this tiktok city of course the minute seven Raheem Sterling in a 5-1 rout of the cherries let me know any memories great to hear from you till we meet please stay safe blues come on city bye for now
