Hi friends today, I thought I'd play with this fun little tree
I was going to try and do it in a short, but it's so hard to get everything in in a short
Um, I want to give you as much information as I can. So i'll just start with my supplies
I am using my my langs beautiful vibrant creamy can't say enough about these
They're excellent for a beginner because number one they're a reasonable price, but look at these gorgeous
Colors, they're violet purples are
just
Beautiful, they're pinks and reds and blues. You've got your browns and greens
um
And this whole palette I think is about 17
Many times you can get it for 15 and i'm hearing from so many of you that you're getting it and absolutely love it
As much as me
So this is the palette I paint with every day
Today i'm painting on my artisto pads
um
Beautiful texture. They are not 100 cotton guys
but
You guys are loving these and they're so fun because I label them and then I journal all these I just stick them in
My cupboard and I have them for seasons or I use them for color swatch sheets
They're fabulous and you can't they are perforated so you can tear them out and give them as a gift or
Frame them, but they've got this really lovely lovely texture and
I love them. I this is what I paint on every single day
I've got some paint here on my hand
um
And then i've got my meat and palette which I love when I paint at home because it is heavy
It's all ceramic, but it's got beautiful deep wells and huge mixing spaces
And I have my rinse and my wash water
And let's see. What else? Oh, I am using my six long round
Uh princeton today and I like this because it has a really nice little point on it
And then i'm using this fun little brush. Um, I just happen to have this one. I don't even know what it is
Karat, but i'll find you. Um, I have other ones
It's a little fan brush and we're going to be painting some little trees. I thought this might be fun
I played with this this weekend and I really liked it and I thought I might want to share that with you
I'm going to go ahead and dip my brush. Let me grab my paper towel
Uh dip my brush here
into my water
And then I just tap it off a bit. I don't want too much water and i'm going to do my branches
I think i'll use you could either use a black or a
Van dyke brown, I think i'll use this van dyke brown
Which is quite dark. I could even add some black to it if I really wanted to
And I always tap off
On the side, so i'm not going into my paper with a huge
Amount of water in there because that's harder to control
So this is about 50 pigment 50 water
And
Let's see. Okay
So i'm just going to go in and using the tip of my brush
So i'm holding a little bit farther away than I might normally I hold a little bit closer down to the ferrule
So I have more control over my brush strokes, but today for the tree. I want a little bit more freedom
um, so
That's what i'm going to do with my brush
I'm going to start here just with the tip anchoring my hand on the side
And I might get larger smaller and i'm just going to start
Having fun. I'm going to add a tiny bit of black into that
Just drawing some
Fun little branches here coming out and then i'll add on more later
Something like that
And now I want to work a little fast here because i'm hoping that might stay a tiny bit wet
Dipped my brush in and what a fun little brush that is. Isn't it guys?
You can make all kinds of fun stuff with this
And i'm going to go into my green
And i'm just going to start wiggling this brush
I mean look at the fun little
Shapes i'm getting with this so I was looking at these japanese
Palms and
Different pictures and these came up and I thought what a fun tree to paint
And they kind of had these little poofs like this
And I just thought they were so fun. I mean look at that that could easily be done, right?
And how easy was that what I want to do is I want to go in here i'm going to rinse this brush
And as that is drying, I mean literally this could be all you do
And you could even go in and maybe add some little
Branches here and there just to give it some depth
You could do a little dry brush here
I mean, but what a simple little card this could be what I want to do is go in
Really rinse my brush here
And i'm going to pick up some of this gold
in my palette
So that is yellow ochre and I might mix it with just a tiny bit of green
And then i'm going to go in
And i'm getting quite a bit on my brush because as you can see
This brush doesn't hold a ton. It's got a lot of little leaves and I might just go in
And i'm kind of wiggling my brush and I just want to add little highlights here and there
But look how much fun that is. I mean you could really play here
I could even go back in and add some darker colors underneath
So wash and rinse my brush and maybe go in and pick up that
Olive green
and go in
And just touch in on the bottom and i'm just wiggling this brush around
But it really creates some fun
Little textures and what's really cool about this. I know you guys ask me all the time. How do I leave white space?
Well, how easy is it with this because the brush?
little
The brush hairs are already kind of separated
So that's basically all i'm going to do with that and what a fun little tree
So I wanted to hop on here and share that with you. You could also end it by let's get some light green
the one thing I will tell you is this thing's a little bit challenging to
um get
Um in to fit in your little pans because the brush is so wide
Kind of a funny challenge. Oops. Let's see. I think what I want to do is
Let's pick up. Oh, oop. Got a loose hair there
pick up some of that
and
I'm just taking a wet or damp brush and
Kind of creating a little bit of ground there and then
Just some little grass growing up this brush really can be awfully fun
Turning I always i'm always playing with my brushes and turning them backwards and forwards seeing what kind of strokes I can get
And then maybe just go in there
I mean you could take this as far as you want
And add in some tiny little
yellow flowers
I mean what a sweet little tree if you're good at calligraphy you could then go in
And
just add some
A cute little word here
And what I liked about what I automatically do is I brought in the different greens down here which kind of tie in
The top of the the painting and the bottom and if you see here, I also added in yellow which kind of brings
This coherency between the yellow and golds up in here and down in here
so I always am trying to do that kind of
Add in my colors everywhere, but how cute would this even be with a little swing hanging down I could do that
Let's see how good I am at that didn't plan that so bear with me here
We have a swing tree in the neighborhood here, and it's always so beautiful. I think what i'll do actually is use that
gold brown
Mix it with some of my brown
There we go
and
Just add in a little I didn't plan this guy so
Like I said bear with me on creating this little
swing tree or swing
Something like that. I mean how sweet I probably would have actually brought it down a little bit farther
And there you go
How fun is that?
All right, well happy painting guys I like i'm trying to create some um
Fun or easier things i'd like to give you a challenge every month
So we had a few challenges the last week and this is just kind of a fun little one
I will find this brush. This brush is quite old for me. So
I've never even heard of this brand c-o-r-o-t. I don't know guys
But i'll find you a little fan brush
And this is as always my little six long round, you know, I love that and my paints
Um, let's see free drawings
This probably won't be a drawing but don't forget to check out my free drawings on my website under free resources for each month
and
If you want to check out my brushes i'll list that link there, too
And I think that's all thanks so much guys for being part of my little community and um
Most of all have fun with this wonderful medium. I'll talk to you soon
