Advocacy.
I think, you know, if we look at times before,
in these kind of times, that is when
the types of projects that people choose to do
or use their platform to show support,
so I think that comes along with the job.
I think it's just hard, you know, because
if you support one, another feels like,
and I'm big about, it all needs to be right,
not one versus the other.
But I do think it's important that we use our voices
to show support to the common man
who is on the battlefield, literally and figuratively,
but I think at the same time,
to hopefully using people that have this kind of access.
I think the whole point is to encourage,
to continue to get movement and things going
in the proper area, so I think it's important.
The artist's role is to agitate, to amplify,
to educate, to empower.
I think we need to be active, whether you're protesting
or whether you're making something
that is a protest in what it says.
Right now, it's all about purpose and intention.
No one should be sitting on the sidelines,
and so I'm proud to encourage people
to stand up and speak up.
We've got to do it.
I don't know, I mean, those are like,
such a big question, you know what I mean?
We live in complicated times, and people have always,
often used art as a way to express themselves
and express their views on stuff,
so hopefully people can do that.
I mean, art is so important.
I think art also, the beautiful thing is
it's a communal experience.
I mean, filmmaking, you can't do it
without everyone working together,
and also, you know, art, it has,
you hope it has something to say,
that it can change people's opinions on things
or bring people together,
and so that's what I hope to do
as an artist and continue to,
because I think it can be a very, you know,
art can be healing when you let it be, yeah.
So, you know, Nebraska,
I'm wearing the Nebraska colors tonight.
Nebraska is an album, I think,
that sort of plants its flag
in the mountain of authenticity,
and he is an artist that stands for authenticity,
deeply authentic expression,
defends and protects his truth.
Carl Jung once said that only that
which is really ourselves
has the power to heal.
I think Bruce is a champion of that.
He has the courage to face
and shake hands with his demons.
The movie is about repairing trauma through art,
and it's about healing and integrity,
so all of those things I take from him.
Also, how much he gives.
He gives everything, every time.
I mean, I can't say much or spill the secrets,
but it's been really fun to play
and also kind of show Effie Trinket's evolution
into who she became.
And Elizabeth, you know,
she's so iconic in that role,
and what she did with that role is so,
you know, fans love Effie so much.
She was always my favorite,
so I hope to just do it proud.
Sam is a friend.
We worked together on The Idol
and had a great time.
And, you know, anytime a director like Sam Levinson calls,
you just say yes, no matter what the part is.
We had a blast.
And I think he likes working with me
because it's like having another director on set.
He doesn't have to worry about me like an actor.
It's like, I'll know my lines, I'll hit my marks,
I'll give him some options.
And we had a great time, an amazing time.
What is a pro and a con of this technology
coming into the industry?
I think there's going to be amazing aspects to AI
in terms of how it can,
the speed at which we get things done in terms of film.
But I hope that, you know,
we keep the authenticity of the world that we've created.
Obviously, making movies is something
that we all love to do.
And we still want to get to do in the right way.
But it's definitely a unique time in the business.
I mean, I think that pro is,
if you're doing a low-budget movie
and there's a visual effects shot
that you could never afford,
you can do it with AI.
The con is that the technology
is going to get so good
that people will just be prompting keys
and putting material out there.
But to me, it feels like it'll be another genre,
like another kind of animation.
It's never going to replace it.
But I do think that people
that don't have the prejudice against it,
you know, they're going to grow up
watching content that way.
It's just here.
There's no getting rid of it.
So, I think that it's just,
you have to just create original stories
that a computer can never come up with.
