My name is Chrome i have been living in y cargo van for 6 years now. I started this lifestyle BROKE and IN DEBT and after 11 months of living the van life i cleared my debt and started to put my life back together and build for a better future. I have turned my original van into a badass camper van that is lifted with all the toys. Over the years i went from being broke and stealth camping in the city and sleeping at walmarts... to now, living fulltime in a jacked up van and driving deep off-grid into the backcountry and living life in the dirt. WOW LIFE HAS CHANGED. I now have a shop space to keep me busy through the winters here on Canada's westcoast. Went from Van Life to VAN LIFE + SHOP LIFE !!!!!! Come join this crazy van life journey of mine. HIT SUBSCRIBE, trust me its gonna be a WILD RIDE.
I'm arriving at my camp spot a little late in the day today.
So I went into my app that I save all of my favorite spots that I've been finding
over the years and I remember pinning this place
I don't know over five years ago now. And it's right on the river
and a great spot for the night tonight. But I realized something today
that I made a really big mistake. I'm unprepared to be out here
and normally I have everything I need. It's my home. It's always
solidly equipped. But today I made a pretty big mistake.
You hear that? There's a hole in my tower somewhere.
I can hear it. I just can't see it. If I can see this thing I can plug it.
Oh yeah we got to get out of here. I don't have my
air fill up thing for my compressor. I think I lent it to one of the guys at
the shop and I never got it back. So we got to
get out of here man before that tire goes flat.
Damn it. There's that little town that we were
we were at yesterday that's as closest to me.
I don't know if that little gas station has a means of filling up air.
That's the only choice we've got.
We are quite a ways away from an actual town town.
And if I can find that leak I can plug it. I have a plug kit.
We just need air to put back in the tire.
All right well we made it to Wass. I don't think the gas station is going to
be open here. At least then we'll see if they have
if they have air. If not we're just gonna have to park it here and
hope for the best that we can find some air in the morning.
They have air there hopefully it works. All right they got everything we're
going to need. Let's find this hole. This thing is huge. That is going to be
one mighty big hole. Oh I hope a plug fills that. That's
crazy. I'm a little worried right now. This ARB
kit. I just don't know if these little things
are going to plug that hole or how many it's going to take.
What the heck is that thing? What do I do here?
All right guys wish us luck. We got 42 minutes to Port McNeil.
I have a full-size spare on the back of the van and I can totally put on the
full-size spare. But you know might as well just drive
into a tire shop. Get that tire repaired. Well we made it to Port McNeil.
I wish the brewery here was open. I think the brewery here
is only open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday or something.
I damn I sure could use one tonight. All right here's the tire shop. I wonder
where we can park that's not weird. Like if there's a spot right there it'd
be perfect. I said there's somebody living in that
trailer.
Let's pull over in the parking lot over here and check on the tire.
If it's not leaking any air maybe we'll just pull up in town.
Tire looks good. She's sitting full. Let's go back over here and take another
peek. Like there's a light on in that trailer
out there and I don't want to pull up beside the
trailer if somebody's actually sleeping in the trailer.
You know what I mean? I think we're gonna stay here.
This is right across from the tire shop. Tire shop's right there. It's super windy
out there tonight. It's been windy all day. Cleaned up a
little bit in here. Hey crazy. Talks a little better. Oh I heard that
piggy. So I could have put my spare tire on but
then I would have still had to have driven back
to here to get my blown tire repaired so we could have a spare. So
driving back here it's way easier. Then I don't got to worry about fussing with
it. They can fuss with it. So tomorrow if they can't fix that hole
because it looks like a pretty big hole. If they can't patch it and they don't
have a 35 inch tire here in stock.
I'm going to put my spare tire. I'm going to get them to put the spare tire on the
van and then we're just going to trek back
down island probably back into Parksville
and order in a 35 inch ko2 so we can have
a functioning tire and and a spare. So the rim that I do have hanging on the
back is the exact same rims that are on the side so it can just be a
full blown tire swap. No problem. All right I'm going to pick the camera up in
the morning you guys and hopefully these guys can get us in
right away in the morning without making us wait all day.
That'd be awesome. It's six o'clock. Oh I slept really good last night.
Oh that tire's good. Sweet doesn't look like I lost any air last night.
Wicked. Oh that was a great night's sleep. So the tire shop here opens up at
eight o'clock in the morning so since the tire is okay we're gonna drive
down to the coffee shop. Maybe it's open already.
Oh I hope they can get me in nice and early this morning.
Okay guys. Good morning Port McNeil.
These are hilarious.
If you want breakfast in bed sleep in the kitchen.
Thank you. Oh boy. Watching them put all that fresh baking
out. Every time she brought something else
out she was like putting Nutella on the top of some of them. I was like oh gosh
get out of that car. Seeing the ocean all calm and peaceful today is
incredible. Like those reflections on there are like
this is a giant lake but it's not. It's the ocean. This was the ocean
yesterday morning. When I got up I didn't film anything
during the day at all because I'm like every time I turn the
camera on all you could hear is wind whipping past me but I did grab some
shots of the camp spot in the morning. Damn was that ever beautiful. But today
is off to a good start. Fingers crossed the tire shop can get us
in but no complaints. We're starting a
here nice and early. That thing stayed pretty good. I don't
know where it is. I don't hear it. When I was reefing on that piece last
night it went boop. It got clicked out to a
little point and then I bent those little things open and it stopped
leaking. Great I want something like this. Yeah
they're awesome dude. That's what we do at my shop. We do lift
kits and Ford Econoline vans. Yeah? Yeah. Nice. Yeah we just built the
shop a year ago in Coombs. Someone's taking our van. Where's he
taking our van? It's always cool to see someone else
roll your rig. That's a pretty sick van man.
I love it that after all these years I still stoked
on that van. It's so cool and get so many reactions.
A bunch of guys at the coffee shop were pulling in from BC Hydro this morning
and all their trucks and every one of them were just like
double taking the van and pointing at the van. Either that or they were saying
something bad about it. But I think they were going yo look at
that thing it's cool. And even him right out the gate he's like man I want one of
these. I'm like hey man we do those things just
down island you know. So the guys are gonna get me all fixed up
here this morning which is great. Well well it's like picking up a hooker.
What's up buddy? Some of you guys remember him from a previous video.
He has a bulldog named Kenny. Looks just like
Kruzy. We went up in the bush once with this
guy. Well there's the home. I wonder if they
fixed it or if they swapped out the spare.
Did you fix the hole? Cool. What was in it? I don't know what it is.
Do you have it? Odd I do. Can I see it? Yeah.
Yeah when I seen it in the tire I'm like what the hell is this thing?
Yeah well I just got myself a badass KLR and
holy crap what the hell is that thing?
What the heck is that thing? That's what was in my tire.
It looks like something maybe like a cotter pin went through something like
that or something. That's nuts. Weird. Yeah I was looking at
it. Kruzy. Oh you're a beauty.
Oh these guys were awesome. They were just like hey man
you gained a subscriber. I'm like wicked because as soon as I walk away he's like
I'll be watching. I love that. They were pretty stoked on
the rig. All right Kruzy. We good to go buddy. We good to go.
I love that when you get to a small town like this
and they fully take care of the travelers.
It got me right in right away and that's happened multiple times on my travels
where you hit a town you say hey look I'm traveling through I got a tire
problem. He's like oh where you from? You tell him where you're from. He's like hey
we're gonna get you in right away get you back on the road.
I love that of all places and I've had subscribers reach out to me over the
years and tell me that that's their company
policy. That they're either in you know like
mechanic shop businesses or they're in tire shop businesses and
their company policy is to put those travelers
if it's a small job of course get them in get them out.
You know what I mean? Fast turnaround. It's a good little way to generate some
quick cash and you know it's just good for business.
Like these guys are awesome. So if you guys are ever out on this side
of the island you got tire problems. The guys at CalTire here in Port
McNeil were pretty rad. So let's go!
All right we're gonna see if we can find a hardware store or
some kind of a store out here and see if we can get like those air compressor
fittings so we can have a functioning air
compressor again. There's gotta be somewhere in town.
I got it. I don't know if I got all the right stuff
but I got it. All right let's go top up on some fuel and
bounce out of town here. I just got some news
from Amanda. She's like you should check the cameras at the shop.
I looked at the cameras. The boys are starting to do
the concrete driveway right now. That makes me want to go back and see
the driveway. Maybe we will. We're gonna stop off and get some fuel
here and then I want to pull over and put
together that air thing before I leave town
and make sure it works. I'll never do that again.
I'll tell you I'll never ever ever take anything out of my home and put it
anywhere else because when you need something in your
home you expect it to be at home.
Mistake. Big mistake. Won't do that again. We've been putting so much fuel in here.
All this running around. It gets pricey my friends.
$63.30. Since I heard that the boys at the shop
are doing the concrete out there I don't want to miss that part.
I've kind of watched everything come together in there and I don't want to
miss out on well what is the final stages of putting
it together. It's uh Thursday February 27th. I'm
fine. I'm gonna edit this up and send it out to you
today. So uh thanks for watching this one. A little bit of drama.
A little bit of drone shots in a pretty morning. To me
sounds like a mighty good day. Anyway guys
Way to tell the world. What's up weirdos.
Oh my throat.
