🧗 Am Eingang ins Sernftal liegt mit der Glarner Hauptüberschiebung eine der markantesten geologischen Stellen der Alpen. In der Lochsite überlagern ältere Gesteinsschichten jüngere. Dies führte zur Erkenntnis der Überschiebung von Gebirgsdecken. Im American Museum of Natural History in New York wird eine naturgetreue Kopie ausgestellt. Im Juli 2008 wurde die Glarner Hauptüberschiebung in die Liste des UNESCO-Welterbes aufgenommen.

🧗 At the entrance to the Sernf Valley lies the Glarus Overthrust, one of the most striking geological sites in the Alps. In the Lochsite, older rock layers overlie younger ones. This led to the discovery of the overthrusting of mountain ranges. A lifelike replica is on display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. In July 2008, the Glarus Thrust was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
