USDA Secretary Explains Why Contingency Funds Can't Cover SNAP Benefits
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins addressed Americans one day before SNAP benefits are set to expire, explaining why the Department of Agriculture cannot use contingency funds to continue funding the food stamp program.
Speaking at a press conference with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) at the U.S. Capitol, she blamed Democrats for facilitating a “disgusting dereliction of duty” as they refuse to reopen the government and continue to hold out for health care funds.
A lawsuit to force the administration to release the funds is now pending.
