California Governor Gavin Nuome says
he'll be considering the run for
president after the midterms. And today
Sam Wong was out on the National Mall in
DC to hear from the people.
>> What are your thoughts on the
possibility of Gavin Newsome running for
president in 2028?
>> I think it'd be a waste of time. I think
he his state isn't running very well at
all. He kind of ruined that spot. The
last thing we need is for America to run
like California.
>> Do you think people are going to be on
board with that?
Sadly, there's a lot of crazy people out
there, so it's hard to understand. There
might be some, but my prayers are that
the majority of the people will see
through it and um the he won't have a
backing.
>> I think it's absolutely a possibility.
He is preparing for this. This is the
momentum and this is where we need to
go. We need somebody who's serious and
who's competent, who can face all the
challenges and actually navigate us
through this.
>> I would think there's maybe better
candidates than him.
>> And better like who? Uh like maybe Mayor
Pete. Uh wouldn't mind to see a woman in
there. Uh Gretchen I think would be a
good candidate for a for a female.
>> My wife's uh brother lives in Southern
California and he's always complaining
about Gavin, but I think he's done an
all right job.
>> I think he's a terrible candidate. Um
just in my opinion, I don't think he'd
be good for the country. I feel like he
messed up California pretty bad. So
>> in what way?
just whenever they had all those
wildfires didn't really contribute too
much.
>> He's going to see how successful he is,
I guess, with the Proposition 50 and
then see what shakes out with the
midterms and and what makes some sense
for him. And of course, if I'm not
mistaken, you know, Harris is out there
trying to get some feelers and seeing
what might be possible for her as well.
>> You think she's she's got a chance or
>> I have no idea. I Right. I wouldn't even
begin to speculate on on how she might
make got as a candidate. It would have
been nice to have had her go through the
proper primary process earlier or at
least have had an open convention. I
think that was a lot a very significant
detriment to the the Democratic party.
>> Do you see any other potential candidate
for the Democratic party coming up in
2028?
>> I don't know. They they need some turns.
They need to just my own personal
opinion. I haven't seen them stand
behind anything that's good like
something like yours. Like this is a
good thing for Americans. It seems like
they stand behind everything that I
personally think is awful.
>> It's good to have other people and other
opinions and diversity of thought, but
it's also good to have a united front.
And I think that's the time that we're
at now where we have to kind of get our
stuff together.
>> Would you like to see anyone on the
Democratic side running for president in
2028?
>> Probably Camala Harris. I think it'd be
pretty easy to beat her again, so that'd
be nice. Yeah.
