In the early 14th century, pottery like earthen ware grinding bowls, crocks or pots were produced. At the beginning of the 17th century, water jugs and flower vases which for tea ceremony were produced with dynamic and strong aesthetic sence. At the middle of the 18th century, with the support of Todo clan, pottery for daily use was produced in Marubashira village and this established the foundation of modern Iga ware.
