Cold weather ideal for planting perennials

We as we get closer to November with colder temperatures, some plants will be okay and some will take a hit. Recently, temperatures have consistently started to stay cool, feeling like winter in the morning with temperatures in the upper 20s and 30s. Then it feels like fall by the afternoon. Even though plants like mums and nepidas can handle the cold, especially frost conditions, there's a few things you should know though to make them last longer during the fall season. >> I mean, with the mums, you could definitely cover them with a either a very light blanket or sheet. Don't use plastic because plastic does not work. That'll keep the mums looking good for a couple more weeks. Plants like cabbage and kale survive in cold conditions as well as the monttok daisy. Some others include all ornamental grasses and snapdragons. However, even though it's getting colder, it's actually a good time to grow certain flowers and plants for the springtime. >> Now is a great time to plant perennials because there's no top growth. It's all in the roots. You can get great deals on perennials right now and uh you could just slam them in the ground. They'll be great in the spring. It's also a great time to plant trees and shrubs, and that's because these plants have great root growth. Some flowers and greenery do thrive in cool, moist, and stable environments. Steady rain and especially snow in the winter melt into the soil which benefits these plants come springtime.
