Last week, Alex and I travelled to upstate New York to stay at a beautiful a-frame cabin in the woods. This trip was exactly what we needed–we spent our days hiking through the woods by the cabin, exploring nearby towns, and relaxing by the fire. We wanted to share a little bit of our trip with you in this vlog. Enjoy, friends!!

For years Alex and I have been talking about wanting to go away on an autumn road trip or
vacation together. We love watching the leaves change where we live and we have always wanted
to see the fall colors somewhere new. I also think fall is the best time for a road trip.
It's so much fun to put on a good playlist and take in all the trees and scenery from the road.
So earlier this year we booked a few days at a beautiful A-frame cabin in the mountains of
upstate New York. I've always loved A-frames and wanted to visit one someday and this was
a dream come true. It's a tiny A-frame cabin tucked away in the woods next to a waterfall.
We had been counting down the days for months and couldn't wait to finally get there and see it in
Alex and I love road trips but someone isn't quite as happy about being in the car as we are.
Hang in there little guy. After a few hours on the road we finally made it up to the mountains
and it was absolutely beautiful. There were rivers and lakes all along the way and because it was
raining everything was covered in this moody fog and it was so cool. We wound our way up the mountain
road and finally made it to the cabin and we were tired when we arrived but we were so excited to
get settled and start exploring. This is amazing. It is so cute. There's even a little fire pit
and the best part is you can see the waterfall right outside the back door.
What do you think, Obie? Is it up to your standards?
Good morning friends. It's the next day. We got in a little bit later than we expected
last night because I think we made a wrong turn getting up to the cabin and I think we actually
went the back way like over the mountain to get here. The road was really windy and it got kind
of foggy and eerie which I loved and then when we got in it was a little bit dark. The sun was
starting to set so we couldn't really see what it looked like around the cabin very well so when we
woke up this morning pretty much the first thing we saw when we sat up from bed was the view out
the window to the waterfall and it is so gorgeous. The leaves are beautiful. I think it's a little
bit past peak where all the leaves aren't really on the trees. A lot of them have fallen but I
actually think it's making the view of the waterfall and the little stream in the back even
clearer so I am just loving every minute in this cabin. It is so cute. Everything about it, the way
the owners designed it, is perfect and like so charming and fun so I want to give you a little
tour of the cabin before we start the rest of our day so let's go take a look around.
So when you first walk into the cabin there's this little kitchen area off to the right and
then the main floor is the living room and the entire back wall is made of windows and glass
doors so it's very bright and open. There's so much natural light. There's a wood burner in the center
of the cabin and this spiral staircase that takes you up to the top floor and there's this cute
little desk in the corner. Here's another view of the kitchen and then you can walk into the
bathroom off the side. Everything in the home was just so beautifully designed and this is what the
bedroom upstairs looks like. It's so cozy and cute. We're at the back of the house and we haven't had
a chance to see the waterfall up close yet so we're gonna go walk on this little path around
the back and go check it out.
Hey friends so we've spent most of the day just hanging out here at the cabin and walking around
outside just taking it all in enjoying the peace and quiet and we're both getting a little bit
tired but we want to make sure we can pick up some stuff for dinner really quick so we're gonna head
into town and get things for snacks and for dinner tonight and then we'll just spend the rest of the
night hanging out here at the cabin.
The next morning we wanted to go and explore the area around the cabin so we drove to a nearby town to get breakfast.
We went to this adorable place called the Blue Bee Cafe and the tea and breakfast were delicious
and then we went to a little bookstore and picked up some gifts and souvenirs to bring back home.
So we're back up at the cabin we just wanted to check on Obie really quick and then we're
gonna go out for a little hike. So whenever I go on a trip I like to collect souvenirs and
little things from nature that I can use to put in my scrapbook later so we're gonna go
do that. We also want to get some photos because this trip was actually a gift to me and Alex for
our wedding from some of our family members and we wanted to take some photos
for them that we can send when we get back home.
We had the most incredible time up at the cabin and I know that we're going to remember this trip
for the rest of our lives. We're so glad we could go there and so grateful to our friends and family
for such a beautiful wedding gift. I literally can't imagine a more perfect gift than this
unforgettable trip to go and stay in this little A-frame and I'm really grateful too that we could
bring Obie with us and have him be part of the fun as well. I think by the end of the trip he was
ready to stay at the cabin. He loved being able to roll over the house from the top of the stairs.
It was so funny. So I hope you all enjoyed this video. Thank you so much for watching. We're so
glad we could share some of our trip with you. So thank you so much for being here friends.
I'll see you next time.
