What did you do for her this summer? During the summer, I did absolutely nothing. Spent most of my time in hospital. Oh, really? What happened? I have cystic fibrosis. Do you? No way. Did something flare up? I had pneumonia. I was diagnosed when I was three and a half. It's mainly got to do with your lungs. It affects your whole body. Up until a couple of years ago, it affected my height, my weight, nail and hair growth. Everyone says, you wouldn't know. I'm like, it's not on my face. My name's Darren, I have CF. CF doesn't have me, if that kind of makes sense. I'm my own person and CF is just a thing that I have. So, yeah. Oh, you have a tattoo? I do, I have Trey, actually. This one's my sister's name. Jillian. She had CF too, but she passed away. Oh, ****, did she? Sorry to hear that. Aw, no way. She was just such an amazing person. Just how she got up and got on with it every single day. She had it so hard. I wouldn't wish what she had on anyone. She was just... Oh, she's just... I don't even know. She was younger than me, obviously. She was ten when she passed away. Obviously, I took it so hard because she was my best friend. I stopped taking all the medication. I just didn't see the point in it. I was like, if it didn't work for her, why would it work for me? But then I kind of got kicked up the arse and I was like, if I'm not going to do it for myself, do it for Jillian, in all kinds of ways. My brother as well died as well. Well, I wasn't born. Oh, my God. For years, I asked questions about my brother. I was like, what happened? Every time, my mum was like, no, I don't want to talk about it. She wouldn't, she couldn't. But then a few weeks ago, for the first time, she talked to me about the day and I was just looking at her and I was like, how did you go on? Because nobody should outlive their children. He was only eight. Yeah. So, I don't know how my mum does it. Jesus Christ, fair play to her. And what happened? Car crash, got run over. Oh, my God. I was born two years later, but I think that stems from losing a child and wanting to fill the gaps. I think it's just really weird. If that hadn't happened, it's a good chance I wouldn't be here right now. I always think about that. Not in a begrudging way or anything like that. It's just like, life is so fragile. One moment can change everything, the outlook of it. Sorry for making you, like, talking about that ----. No, no, you're wrong. But I still can't believe I'm on a first date, on a date in general.
