Hey everyone, today we're opening the
Asus ROG Xbox Ally X 2025. For
reliability notes, display measurements,
performance benchmarks, and more lab
data, check the full review on
laptopmedia.com. The link is in the
description. Let's dive in.
To reach the internals, we undo eight
screws and lift the bottom cover of the
AliEx.
We're using a JIS number zero
screwdriver for all visible screws.
The first three screws are short. Keep
them separated for reassembly.
We place a soft pad underneath so the
two analog sticks aren't pressed while
we work.
The next five screws are long. Here are
the first two coming out.
You can clearly see the difference.
Because of their length, the first and
third of the final three are tricky on
camera. We'll finish them once the cover
is loose.
The middle screw is captive to the
cover. Loosening it opens a small seam
you can use to start the pry.
Here it is.
Focus is tight with the camera between
our eyes and the seam. So, this step
takes longer. Sorry about it.
We'll disconnect the ribbon going to the
cover. First, peel the protective tape.
Now lift the latch on the connector.
Then slide the ribbon out.
Done. We can proceed. Now, when you
reinstall it, don't forget to lock it by
pushing the latch back down.
The battery plug pulls straight up.
There's no locking tabs, so lift gently.
We use our old but light tweezers,
pliers with padded jaws to avoid marks.
Find a comfortable angle and pull with
controlled force only.
And that's it. The battery is safely
unplugged.
Remove the five battery screws, two long
and three short, so the pack can come
out.
Here's
the battery, an 80Wh four-cell unit that
feeds the AliEx.
We take out the SSD for a look. This
M.222 2 22 to 80 drive on PC. I express
4 is upgradeable. The memory is not as
the Alli X carries 24 GB of LPDDR5X
in dual channel soldered to the board.
Here it is. This is a Samsung model
BM9C1.
We'll leave the EMI shielding tape in
place. You'll find information about the
storage speeds and the SSD reliability
in the full review on laptopmedia.com.
The SSD goes back into its slot.
That wraps the disassembly. Bottom cover
off, battery disconnected and removed,
and storage checked. Enjoy this 360°
spin of the console, and let us know
