Are you guys ready?
Bad idea.
Slow, slow, slow, slow.
Record!
This is no ordinary hike.
Today I'm taking you to Switzerland's legendary Five Lakes hike trail on Pizzol Mountain,
a place of turquoise lakes, rugged ridges and endless alpine view.
And instead of the gondola, I choose the hard way,
riding my e-bike up the steep climb before setting off on an adventure.
All right guys, so start of the journey.
It's gonna be 13 kilometer distance, 1730 meter ascension.
And it says it's gonna be three hours, but I think it's gonna take me maybe two.
It's 1 p.m now, let's see if I can get up there by 3 p.m.
All right, here's the first lesson of the day.
I was trusting Perplexity AI to tell me how far I can come with the car.
I feel like I'm wasting a lot of battery taking unnecessarily long ascension,
but in reality I could have just taken the car further up.
So a little bit regret that straight away,
but let's hope I can have enough to get to the top.
But to be honest, I can enjoy this beautiful view much better on the bike.
So something for something.
Sup boys!
It was a perfect day in the mountains.
Clear skies, stunning views all around and every turn felt like a postcard.
I loved the climb, pushing the pedals higher and higher,
feeling the burn in my legs and the reward in the scenery.
Okay, so almost here at the first station boys.
So the good news is that one third of the trip is done.
500 meters of ascension, about 3 kilometers distance.
The bad news is that the bike is at 57 percent,
which means if my calculation is correct, it should be at 66.
So I'm not gonna have the battery to get to the top,
unless I really tweak the modes and I use my legs a lot, which I don't want to.
So probably just gonna take the cable car at one point if it's possible.
Well, these are not the best news.
I think it means that you cannot really go more with the bike,
but I'm gonna be like just acting like a stupid tourist
and keep going because I have to get to the next village,
if I want to get to the top, I mean.
It's such nice weather, you know, it's clear skies, insane view.
I'm so grateful.
I'll just make a quick stop here and drink some water.
It's not an easy task, even with an e-bike.
Stefan is hiring, climbed so much.
Yeah, we are getting higher, higher and higher.
I just don't know where.
I either have to charge the bike or when the battery is done, I can just hike maybe.
This is my lucky day on the place.
I could charge the bike.
And so from here, it's 700 meter ascension more, about 7 kilometers.
And I'm aiming to charge it up to, I would say over 50 percent,
because with that I can definitely make it.
I can see a waterfall over there in between the trees.
Just gonna check that out.
Yeah, maybe eat something and then figure out how I can get to the top.
But by the way, I'm not even sure if it's worth it because it's just so cloudy.
So maybe just gonna check some webcams just to make sure I'm not going there for nothing.
Because if I go up and cloudy like that, like that was the point.
Okay, so waterfall.
There you go.
Not bad.
Quick change of plan because it's cloudy like that everywhere.
I called the toll station.
I checked the webcam and it's just covered everywhere.
It's not worth it to go up.
Let's just admit it.
What I'm gonna do is I found a couple hikes here.
I'm just gonna see if I can do with the bike around this mountain
and then maybe go to another place if I have time before five.
So yeah.
Okay, so I continue the journey up to see where the clouds start.
I just want to go until I can.
They're starting here.
I'm at a 1750 meter high.
I mean, breathtaking really.
Look at this.
You can see the whole, like the whole town and the whole area.
Some cute cows over there.
They're just chilling.
It's crazy that I actually wanted to turn back.
This place is ridiculous.
It's super dreamy.
I'm so grateful that I came up here.
I won't lie, the terrain is pretty hardcore.
It's not so easy to go with the bike on this gravel road.
I think summer is gonna be the end of my journey.
I mean, from there, it's just clouds, but I just love it.
I think I'm just gonna drop the plan B.
I'm not even gonna go to that place.
I'm just gonna spend as much time as I can over here.
Thing is, once my mother told me,
and this is something I learned as a little kid,
that you always have to appreciate things where you are
because as humans, we have this tendency that wherever we go,
we always like, oh, what's the next thing?
What better things I can do?
And so instead of just jumping around like a madman,
you know, spending a lot of resources, being time and money and attention,
you could just really enjoy where you are.
Maybe that's not the most amazing or most popular or best place or whatever.
Since I already put in the effort, come all the way up,
I realize it's just much better to just chill over here,
enjoy this beautiful place,
just go up as much as I can before the clouds cover it
and then come back down, maybe do a couple hikes here
and that would be my day done.
I'm probably getting close to like 2,000 meters.
It feels ridiculous to just like keep going up,
climbing on this gravel road with this bike.
It's very steep.
I feel like I'm just going up to like nowhere.
I'm just going up to like the biggest mountain on planet Earth,
even though that's obviously not the case.
It's f***ing adventure. I love it.
You should see the smile on my face.
Oh yeah, this is very technical.
Parts coming.
Let's see.
Jesus.
No.
Okay, left here.
Lean forward.
Oh, it's hard not to lose traction.
These rocks are always bouncing out the tire too.
Maybe I need to release some air.
And the river.
What is this place?
That's where the clouds are.
I'm just gonna turn back here.
To me, that's the end of the journey.
I'm just gonna go down and park the bike here and there
and do a little hiking, walking around,
just looking at this beautiful place.
And by the way, I'm actually at 2000 meters.
So yeah, we went up to 2k with the C bike.
Still got about 40% left from the battery.
I'm gonna make a stop here, drink some water and then get down.
Have fun.
There is something there.
I can see people going up there,
but I'm just not too sure how exciting that might be.
Yeah, just go over the clouds.
I'm just gonna drop the bike down somewhere here and check the lake.
Can I put it here?
It's okay?
Do you speak English?
I should put it there?
Yeah.
It's better?
Okay.
This is way too cloudy.
Some people, they said they see nothing up there.
There might be a little bit of rain checking the radar.
So it's gonna play smart.
Head back down.
I just want to see something, right?
It's pointless to just hike in the clouds.
Let's just see what else I found on the way back down
because I'm gonna actively look for something
that I can like climb around or walk around.
So I found this place here
and it seems like I can go with the bike over here.
And this is a longer way down.
You have to go up as well.
I could see because like,
I think there's a total of like 300 meter climbing.
I think I got this.
I'm gonna charge the e-bike a little bit.
What could go wrong?
Let's just see.
Hope there won't be any complications on this road.
Release the tire pressure.
And this is a red trail,
so it shouldn't be that crazy.
Rest assured, it's like wet.
Bike is at 44%.
Feeling a little bit nervous
because I'm experienced with these kind of things.
I'm alone.
Rain might be coming.
There could be a lot of things that could go wrong, you know.
There could be technical issues
and I'm pretty high on this mountain
and it's gonna get pretty cold.
So I definitely don't want to stay here for the night
or something like that.
Never happened to me.
Don't want to jinx it.
But yeah, I'm just gonna trust myself
and go down on this route
and see how it works.
Oh, yeah.
Straight away pretty tacky,
I would have to say.
I love this.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, I f***ing love this.
Look at this.
Wow, waterfall, everything.
F*** yeah, mountain biking.
Yeah, let's f***ing go.
Oh, yeah.
I love this.
By the way, this trail is epic.
Oh, steep and technical.
Honestly, I think this is the first time
I'm doing something like this.
I mean, I've done a lot of e-biking.
Oh, wow.
The pedal got hit.
I'm just gonna stop talking for a second.
But I've never been over 2,000 meters
completely alone into the mountains like this.
I feel kind of preferred,
but it's always a bit scary
to do something like that alone, right?
Let's see how it is.
Yeah, it's not gonna be easy.
I can see it already.
It's gonna be a good challenge for me.
All right, ---- down.
Oh, my God.
Mud, cow ----, everything you wish for.
And yeah, we're gonna make a stop here soon.
How good.
Just gonna triple check
if it's not gonna take me like
to the f***ing stratosphere
into like a big mountain.
It's gonna take you back to the village
and then from there,
it's still a long way down with the bike, so.
And I think it's perfect
because it's like kind of in the clouds,
but it's also out of the clouds.
Nice flowers.
Oh, my God.
Yeah, we slipped on that one.
Okay, so first time losing the traction.
Oh, hey, boys.
Interesting.
There is so much cow ---- over here.
Hi, guys.
I'll just go here, okay?
Hey.
They're so cute.
Can I please continue?
Hey.
I was really not expecting this, guys.
I know you have to be kind of careful.
They're like strong animals,
so you don't really want to scare them.
If one of them would decide to like run against me,
I'll probably not enjoy the experience with the bike.
I don't know for how much longer
we're gonna be playing this, right?
Dude, how many more of you there are?
Can I come?
Please let me come.
Come on, guys.
I don't want to do this whole thing.
You just have to go sideways.
Go left or right.
I'm just worried about them kicking me.
I don't know how hard they can kick.
But there's so many there.
Come on, boys.
Just go sideways.
Come on, guys.
This is not what I expected from this journey,
but hey, hey.
Yeah, good job.
No, no, no.
Stay there, stay there.
Oh, ****.
Bro, seriously.
Hello.
He's gonna do the whole journey with me.
He's too stupid.
Dude, I can't climb around.
You know that?
What you gonna do there?
Yeah, do it.
Come on.
Oh, don't fall.
Yeah, please don't fall.
Oh, you got this, you see?
This is ridiculous.
What we got through.
One thing I really like about these e-bikes is
they made it in a way that you can just press a button
and you can push it against like steep sections
and the wheel will automatically move.
I don't know where I'm gonna get down from here
because it's like a massive cliff there.
We'll see.
There's just nothing too much right now.
Okay.
A little bit of downhill section.
Okay.
And a Vulcan.
Interesting.
I'll check how far we are on this journey.
I mean, navigation says we are halfway there, which is not bad.
This is not the safest place to be standing,
so better get over quick.
It's really not easy.
I wanted an adventure, so I got an adventure.
I even have a rope.
I don't know if I'm supposed to hold a rope
while I'm pushing the e-bike up there.
No way.
Jesus.
Okay.
All right, from here should be easier.
Wow.
That's so cool.
We should do this more often, honestly.
This whole e-biking, mountain climbing thing.
Whatever it is called.
E-climbing.
First thing you want to do is fall down there, right?
Not sure if I could be like a trail runner.
Maybe not.
These are hard parts.
Especially when you slip on these rocks
and it's just kind of like the reality of your front tire.
It takes an angle that you don't want.
Then you got clipped on a rock at the same time.
Then it's game over.
Or like sections like this.
It's not easy.
These turns.
Almost lost the traction in the front.
Oh, I'm proud of me.
Battery's okay.
Keep climbing over the cloud.
I always get a little bit of adrenaline from these journeys.
I won't be able to take this.
Too much stones.
Ah, dude, if it wasn't so cloudy,
I bet it would be an insane view from here.
Still not bad.
Look at this.
Must be amazing.
Probably gonna take a pee here.
Where the **** am I gonna go down?
First time in my life I'm not trusting Trailfork that much.
Up here.
I also have to keep in mind that these mountains are no joke.
I mean, the weather can change so fast.
And I could be like,
I think I saw there were some clouds coming,
which I really don't like.
Yeah, a little bit of rain.
So I have to get down as quick as possible.
Probably nothing crazy until like eight.
I will have plenty of time.
I just want to climb this.
And then from there, it's like a descent.
And then another descent back to the village.
And there are like two detours,
like a hundred meter climb up.
And this other one is going down.
I mean, I can also do these detours.
Check it out how they are.
Just realized on some sections,
I just have to go slower and then it's easier.
Trying to like slow down my pace,
especially when there are like some rocks.
That's a drop.
Look at these.
So nice.
Finally, some real action.
Oh, wow.
Okay, we're good.
Oh, but a steep section on my right side.
That's so much fun.
I'm not gonna lie.
This is crazy amount of fun.
Okay, I think here is somewhere detour number one, maybe.
A hundred meter descent.
But if I do this, can I still come back up?
Probably not.
Then I have to go around and take that.
So I would not do that.
I can check it out.
This hundred meter descent.
I can go a little bit and then turn back.
Oh, no space for the pedals.
Oh, I just want to see the other side.
Oh, nice.
Yeah, I don't really want to go down here.
It goes all the way there.
And then probably, I mean, same way back up.
I'm just gonna pass.
Turn back and check this view.
I'm just gonna go back, take the blue one.
Wow.
How am I gonna get down from here?
I'm hopefully there somewhere.
Should take me back there, I think.
Oh, this looks scary.
Okay, you guys ready?
Oh, this is gonna feel insane to go down here.
I have to increase the rebound on this.
So I should bounce back quick.
This is fast.
Okay, stay safe.
Easy.
Nothing crazy.
Oh, yeah, it goes left here.
I thought it's gonna be going straight down.
That's fine.
Oh, I can go faster then.
I'm just gonna drift into these corners.
Shortcut.
Hell no.
Actually, let's check if we're on the right trail.
I mean, there was no other path.
So it should be.
We're better safe than sorry.
I think go all the way there.
The valve deserves descent.
It's so, so nice.
So grippy, actually.
Pedals.
I need to work on these turns, actually.
Drift into them.
You can jump a little bit, too.
Whoa.
The rain rot.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, mud.
Wait, what?
Which way?
Should have taken the other one.
Sometimes it feels like you're just gonna fall down over the edge.
Like this one looks sketchy, for example.
If you ask me.
Oh, there are some big bumps here.
It's funny this is a blue one.
I want to see a beginner take this.
Going down.
Blue my ass.
I'm still at 1700 meters.
Jesus, I need to start going down already.
Yeah, I need to turn around.
Go back down there.
Five o'clock already.
It's just pure beauty.
It's definitely more warm over here.
I really like it.
View is still not bad.
I have to stop sometimes to shake off my hands.
Because the reason I'm here today is because I have some problem with my wrist.
Hurts.
So that's why I didn't go ride something else.
I just want to take it easy on my wrist.
I was not expecting at all to do anything like that.
Oh, boy.
I'm not gonna be clean.
I can give up on that one.
I feel like this mud came out of nothing.
Who cares?
I'll just embrace it.
Yeah, I have to check.
Yeah, this is just more tacky.
I think the more tacky.
After a little challenge, I got this.
Just have to be careful with the roots.
They could be slippery, especially now with this tire.
Oh, wait.
There is a tree over there.
Maybe it's not the best idea to come down here.
Okay, I can take this right one here.
What's this?
Yeah, let's take this one.
Hopefully, I could stop.
Maybe this is a bad idea.
**** it.
Yeah, nailed it.
Look at this.
Mud everywhere.
Let's just continue, shall we?
Oh, my God.
I hit the pedal so hard.
I don't really like this.
I'm just gonna skip through.
Looking for some badass guys.
This will be the most fun part.
I also don't want all this mud in my face.
Let's go.
It goes up and then it's climbing, climbing.
Are we really supposed to be climbing, though?
Or did I just...
Oh, yeah, maybe.
Maybe I have to go there.
So at the end, maybe it's a little bit of climbing.
It would be crazy if someone could do this.
But yeah, I just clipped the pedal straight away.
Connery pedal through and then push it up.
****.
Throw it all over the seat.
Are we gonna go through the whole river?
No, please no.
Hopefully, all good.
Yeah, okay.
I thought I broke the derailleur like last time.
And that would be really bad over here.
Not much left.
Maybe some rain or something is coming.
It feels like stronger wind.
And we are back at the waterfall where we started.
I think it's gonna be somewhere here.
I'll try to find a more fun terrain down there than the fire road.
But if there was one, it would probably be on Trailfork.
So I didn't have my hopes high.
So much warmer here.
My brakes smell burned.
I'm looking for this red one.
And I think I have to go back up a little bit.
Not a little bit, quite a lot.
I'm willing to do that because then there is one trail here.
This is a black and then a blue.
And then I can just get back to the parking.
And I think it's much more nice.
Let's see if that one is there.
Damn, I forgot to turn on in the beginning of this.
Already halfway through, I think.
Almost crashed once.
It's really nice.
It's grown in.
There are some build features here.
Pretty slippery.
Some roots, some ruts.
But other than that, it's nice.
Actually, with that, it's nice.
Just have to stay there.
It's really not that easy.
Whoa, super muddy actually.
I like it matters at this point.
Oh, entire lake.
Oh, we're going in the jungle.
This is so much better than just going down the fire road.
Wow, what was that?
I have to slow down because it's just so muddy.
No, why are you closed?
Please, no.
I really don't want to go back there.
I mean, I can climb over.
But then what if this gets even worse, you know?
F**k that.
Why would they close it?
Should I climb over?
Or maybe I would just climb over.
I don't know, boys.
I don't want to go back up.
I just ******* gonna continue here.
Something is here.
I'll just go down.
We'll find my way.
I can see a path down there.
Maybe that's where people go here.
Wow, okay.
Yeah, I don't know if this is a good idea or not.
I mean, it looks like there's a path over there.
Just don't know where it's leading.
Or if it's leading anywhere.
And it's one of those things in situations like this.
You have to decide whether you go back up or down.
And you just have to stick with it.
Because if you keep going up and down.
Yeah, the bike went crazy.
Wow, almost fall.
I don't like this.
But hey, let's just think logically.
I'm probably not the first person who went here.
I'm sure there were some people who didn't want to go back.
So there was this path here.
So we're just gonna take this path.
See where it leads us.
And then, I mean, there should be another path from there to go down.
And they're like, path is everywhere, I guess.
Just be very careful because it's so slippery with the moss.
Okay, we can ride again.
Not in between.
I'm positive that I will find my way down.
It's just already six o'clock.
So, I mean, I still got plenty of time.
But I obviously don't have time for a big f**k up.
So if it gets like, I don't know, like crazy closed or something.
Then that's a big, big problem.
The stairs, I don't like those.
I'm looking at the map at this point because, I don't know,
I'm just following this one, hoping for the best.
Oh, Jesus, f**k off.
I got the real deal.
Okay, but which way?
It goes down.
Maybe I can use Google Maps.
Where am I?
Oh, you see, it's actually the end of this red one.
That was close for a reason.
Okay, so I have two journeys here.
Which one is nicer?
The one in the forest or the one outside?
I'm sure the one in the forest is more fun.
So for that, I have to go to the right.
That's gonna be there somewhere.
I'm so grateful I came down here.
That was so nice.
Oh, hi, beautiful.
Maybe rain is coming around and it's getting pretty dark.
Just make sure it was not that one.
Or maybe this is it.
It says this is it.
No.
Oh, it goes down there.
I can see it.
How can I miss it already?
It's crazy.
You just blink once.
Well, it looks pretty steep to me.
It's blue.
Of course, it's a blue one.
But I'm not surprised I missed this then.
If it was starting here.
Let's just triple check if it's the one.
Yeah, I'm not 100% sure.
But like somewhere here.
I can drop in here.
I can't see ----.
I'm not sure if this is the one, guys.
This looks mega steep.
But there is one going there too.
Well, I guess I gotta take a right here.
We'll figure it out.
I've seen worse.
Okay, next to the route.
Because the route is slippery.
And then quickly transverse to the right.
Okay, good.
Slow there.
I think I can slow down before the thing.
Just hold the position.
Yeah.
Just to make sure it's the right one.
Yeah, this ---- is just all over the place.
I don't know.
It's a long trail.
There are some ups in this.
Mostly down.
This is gonna continue.
Because it's getting dark.
Or maybe it was dark all day long here anyways.
I don't know.
It's a blue.
It's a blue trail, guys.
Seriously.
Who said this is a blue one?
It's mental.
Oh no.
Okay.
I don't like this.
That's way too steep there.
Hope it's gonna turn away in time.
God, what am I doing?
**** no.
Yeah, no.
Because it's just way too steep on the left side.
I'm just gonna climb down slowly.
That's so funny that this is a blue trail.
I think that's the most hilarious thing I've heard today.
Someone should revisit this rating.
I wouldn't say I'm like an expert e-bike.
Or like, I don't know, trail rider.
But I've been riding bikes for...
I don't know.
15 years.
That's steep.
Okay, focus, focus, focus.
All good, all good.
What the?
What the **** is this next?
That's hilariously steep.
I mean, you can't **** it up here.
If you **** it up, this is game over.
There's a rock there.
Can I go a little bit more down?
Why am I so scared?
Let's just ******* do it.
Oh my god.
Jesus.
That was so scary.
Look at that waterfall.
Holy ----.
I just called my father and told him that I'm here
to keep an eye on me on Apple devices, just in case.
I feel like this place is no joke.
I'll go here.
In many places, it's so steep that you can't stop.
I wouldn't be able to stop here.
Where to go here?
Over there, I guess.
Okay, and where now?
Here?
No way.
They're kidding me.
I think there was like maybe less steep.
No, this is all steep.
And what's here?
Oh yeah, this is easier.
There are like so many here.
I was gonna take something more relaxed
because I'm just tired.
My hands are tired.
I don't want to take the sketchiest one on the edge.
Pointless.
Also very ingrown, I don't even see it.
Got enough adrenaline already.
This will be perfect.
This is steep.
Oh yes, so nice.
Really.
Uh-oh, where is it?
I think we lost it.
It should be here.
I know, maybe it goes in between the trees, actually.
You see here, there is a path.
I was going straight.
I don't know, it could be that one too,
but maybe I trust this more.
At this point, this is totally like freestyling here.
Where are the jumps, boys?
On this little blue line.
Big gap, drop, something, nothing.
Oh, here.
This is so nice.
Okay, this is getting sketchy here.
Oh, you got this, bro.
Come on, you go and then you stop there and you turn right.
Okay, focus, focus, focus.
Record.
F**k.
This is literally on the end of my level.
I ******* love this.
Yeah, obviously conditions are different,
like now with all the leaves and everything.
It's different.
Off-terrain is different.
Crazy water.
I just gotta check this.
I'm actually so grateful I found this place.
This is what I was looking for,
putting in all the effort to go up.
I just wanted to have some adventure down
and I totally got it.
And I don't even know what I was assuming,
like that was 400 meters down here.
I would have thought it's gonna be something like this.
Poor fingers are cooked,
like they're on the brake all the time.
I always hope there won't be another really steep section.
There's always another one.
Shake of my hands.
They're hurting.
Like I knew I shouldn't do something like this today,
like I didn't even want it
because of my wrist and the ligaments in it.
And there you go.
I guess this terrain chose me more than I chose the terrain.
Okay, I'm in the snow just here.
Whoa, slow, slow, slow, slow, slow.
Okay, I don't like these things
when you have to like zigzag so much.
I'm afraid that the pedal gets stuck and then that's it.
Once the pedal is stuck, there's not much you can do.
I think from here it's okay,
especially if I take this upper one.
Okay, what now?
Am I still on the map?
Yeah, I'm almost down.
Maybe here.
I don't know where it's gonna take me.
Might be pretty steep here.
Oh yes, there it is.
So from here it's hiking.
Can we not do this and just go down the other route?
Oh yeah, we totally can.
I'll just check it out quick.
Leave the bike here and see how it is.
Maybe there's something beautiful to see there.
Lock it, not lock it.
**** it, I don't care.
I'm glad I came here.
Definitely not for the bike, but for a good walk.
It's beautiful.
Probably gonna take me somewhere near the waterfall.
I was going on the edge of that freaking steep thing.
So if I were to like fall over there,
that would be a good, I don't know,
40 meter backflipping over these rocks.
We'll probably not survive.
Oh yeah, it was totally worth it.
Wow.
Oh my god, I love this.
Wow, that's wild.
Yo boys, we made it.
