François Simonet-Lenglart is one of the current owners of Cormatin castle.

When he came to Cormatin in 1980, there was no garden around the château. The land was neglected and boggy, because in the early 19th century, the moat was filled with soil from the gardens.

The new owners were determined to restore the building and its iconic French-style garden to their former glory. But they did not stop there. Their idea was to recreate the spirit of the era, whilst adapting it for today's visitors.
