Motovlogger Meetup, Norden 901 WABDR Scouting, Bike Show: @PNWDualSport Summer Opener, Part 2
The second half of the PNW Dual Sport summer opener motorcycle camping extravaganza kicked off with a motovlogger meetup in nearby Packwood, Washington. It was great to meet and hang out with awesome creators like As the Magpie Flies, Tall Man Moto, Circus Bear Moto, and a whole bunch of other motorcycle content creators for a few hours in the morning. Afterward, we headed out to scout Washington Backcountry Discovery Route Section 1 out of Packwood. Travis and I are planning to ride the WABDR next month and wanted to get eyes on the WABDR snow levels this time of year. Sadly, we hit impassible snow about 20 miles outside of Packwood, so our WABDR trip will be interesting, to say the least. Here's hoping some nice weather can clear up the rest of the big drifts by mid-July. Afterward, we headed back to Cascade Peaks campground in Randle, Washington for the rest of the PNW Dual Sport Summer Opener activities including the bike show. It was great to see so many dual sport motorcycles and adventure motorcycles on display, and although the Norden 901 did not win any awards, it was great to see so many bikes and talk to so many other riders. After the show, we retired to camp for an evening of camp cooking on the grill (we made bbq chicken and awesome steak kabobs) and then hanging out by the fire(s) for the rest of the evening. All in all, a fantastic time was had by all, and we can't wait for next year's PNW Dual Sport Summer Opener.
