Hi friends, I'm continuing finishing up my holiday cards and thought I would share this with you
So I love washi. I love that type of look
That's how i'm going to paint this little christmas tree. By the way, i'm using these strathmore cards
I love them. I use them all year long. They're 140 pound cold press
And they come what I love is look at this beautiful little deckled edge
I even sometimes paint on the envelopes, but be really careful
They're not real thick and then of course i'm using my favorite favorite paul rubens
student palette under twenty dollars right now
But look at the colors guys like you get every color you could possibly want. There's nothing worse than buying a palette
And I do this all the time. I have lots of palettes and they don't have the one color
I like but this I mean look at all the reds and pinks and blues purples
You have a lot of every palette. They did such a great job with those colors
They're really creamy and rich and I think right now might even be under twenty dollars
All right, what i'm going to start with first and i'm using my eight round brush. You can also use my favorite which
These sold out my brushes sold out. Um
But I designed my brushes a lot after the velvet touch love the feel of these brushes
This is the eight round. It's got a nice short handle. So really easy to use
And what i'm going to do first is just wet my
Tree so you may not be able to see this but
I'm, just going to go in
And wet this area just a regular little tree
Because I just love the wet and wet so that's
Kind of every year the type of tree I do. Okay while it's wet
I'm going to go in and of course i'm going to do
Let's see, where's my pink there's my turkey blue
And i'm just going to drop that in here it's only going to go where
The water is so I don't have to really worry about it, you know taking over my whole page
Look at that. It even goes into the shape of a tree now the other color I want to add in here is this
beautiful these violets and
pinks
And i'm adding a little more water than I might
So
The fact that it's not spreading as much as I like just means I need a little bit more water because in this case
I want
a lot of that spread
So just adding that in look at the beautiful colors, isn't that gorgeous?
Now what I might do is let me grab my palette knife. You could use anything sharp a credit card
And i'm going to create just pull out some little branches here and there
Look at that, isn't that perfect look at the little branches
So it's what's wonderful about this is it's kind of abstract kind of loose but when I do this
It's adding in that tiny bit of detail that you might want
And you could even scrape on the inside just here and there
And there we go. We've got a great little thick tree there. Now if that is a little too thick for you you can
It's better with the tissue just soak a little bit up
A little bit of that color. There we go. And I think i'm even going to dab in
A tiny bit more
Make sure and use that water if it's not spreading as much as you like just dab in some water
Look at that. Isn't that pretty if you want it to spread more
Just drop in
drops of water around those edges
And that will encourage it to spread but look how beautiful I might even put in a little bit more of that blue
Like that
All right, so I feel like i've got plenty
Of color there now what i'm going to do
Is create the little stump at the bottom
Just like that and I love the brown with this because it kind of creates this earthiness
And then maybe a little bit of
That
Just for
Some interest there and you could tape your card down. I didn't do that this time, but
Feel free to do that. Oops that went into there. That's okay. Let's pick that up
See because water goes wherever I I mean paint goes wherever that water was
So that's why I kind of did that i'm going to darken that up just a little bit right here
There we go, I think that's fine
I think what I will do here is add
a tiny bit
Of a blast with my heat gun. These are so handy, especially in the winter because nothing dries quick
So i'm just going to turn this on real quick. These are about I think you can get them anywhere from 10
I think this one I got i'll look for my link
Um was about ten dollars
Let's try this real quick
Doesn't take long
There we go, and I just have this on velcro under my
Desk, and I just stick it back under there. It's out of the way
Okay. Now what I want to do is i'm going to use my q-tip
And let's just put I just barely dipped my q-tip in some water and i'm going to pick up some of this gold paint
And just do some cute little
Gold ornaments. I want to keep it a little bit simple
But I always like to kind of add that bling in so people go is that some sparkle I see there
There we go. That's probably even plenty
And then we will do the little gold star at the top
Let's see. How should i'm debating if I should do a thick
Just like that is probably fine
There you go, we've got our little star and then I might even do
If you had a fine liner that would be really great we could do some little
Let's see
How about we?
Sprinkle it on I think i'll do that
I'm going to do some splat. Oh, look how pretty oh my gosh, and look how simple that was
And there you go
Again, if you are good at calligraphy my gosh add in that calligraphy. I think could be really really pretty
I'm going to add in some little
Just tiny bits of
See what color we got here
Let me try there's our turkey blue
It's a little bit darker and i'm just going to do some little strands
Of the tree coming out here and there
Just for some interest just flicking I mean oh so light pressure with my brush
Isn't this cute
I just thought this was so cute. I did these cards very similar last year for
Some cards I sent out and that just creates a tiny bit of
interest there
Rinse my brush
All right
Well have fun with that. I will put all of my supplies down below but look at that sparkle
So fun so easy
All right, everybody
Have fun most of all and happy painting. Thank you for being here with me. All right. Bye. Bye
