Frank Lampard was delighted with his Chelsea side securing their first home Premier League win of his tenure as manager, a game which Lampard says the Blues 'dominated'.
Frank, your first home league win as Chelsea manager.
That must mean a great deal to you.
Yeah, it does.
I've had to wait a little while and
I'm really happy because we deserved it.
We haven't had a full 90 minutes of quality here where we've dominated the game.
We've had moments and halves.
And that's where we've lost a couple of points.
But today was domination from start to finish.
Clean sheet is big for us.
That brings confidence.
We can stop asking about that now.
No, if there's one thing that's good, I won't get asked too much about that.
And that's great for us to feel in.
Particularly the back four and the goalkeeper, but the team.
But other than that, the only complaint is not more goals.
I think it was a day to maybe rack up four or five, the way we played.
But I'll take the two and I'll take the win.
At one stage during the commentary, we said it's 20 attempts to nil.
That's how one-sided it was.
It felt that at half-time.
And when I said that to the players, just keep going because it's easy for the crowd to be a bit edgy
and the players then become edgy and get sloppy or something.
And that's why I was so pleased the goal came relatively early in the second half.
Because the longer that goes on, the more difficult it is.
Credit to the lads, they stuck to their guns.
Even when it looked like it might not be our day in the first half.
And we won it pretty comfortably.
It's a very different Brighton to last season, isn't it?
They like to play like you do, out from the back.
Mistakes can happen, as it did.
But it also needs someone like Mason Mount to make that happen.
Yeah, individually, Mason, he's so bright.
He worked so hard off the ball and he did it with his goal at Leicester here.
And he's done it and got us the goal there today with a penalty.
But I think it was a case for the players of, you know, we have to respect Brighton.
They're playing well, playing some good football.
But if we kept working throughout the game,
there's a chance that we can get an opportunity to steal it,
to nick it off them if we stand on it.
And that was the message.
And they did that and they got us a goal.
I watched him play for you at Derby a few times last season and he was fantastic.
Has he maybe even surprised you with how he stepped it up in the Premier League?
I didn't like to pay expectations because with him, I trust in him so much.
And I know the young player that he is.
But maybe a bit to settle this quickly, to be playing at this level so quickly.
He didn't seem to all of a sudden look more confident, look so bright.
He's changed direction today.
I thought it was brilliant.
He's wriggling with the ball and his quality.
So, yeah, it's a nice surprise.
And I think there's more to come.
Obviously, they just had a little spell, didn't they, before the second goal,
where they hit the bar from a corner.
You needed that second goal, didn't you?
We did. We definitely did.
Because the nerves of not winning here yet,
the nerves of the fact we haven't kept a clean sheet in the stadium.
You know, we can feel that.
And we've conceded from set pieces.
So we're a bit disappointed with that.
But they're big.
They were tall today against us.
So I think we probably deserve that slice of luck in the big scheme of things.
But we do still need to tighten up on set pieces.
