Good morning Harriet. How are your babies going? No, stay out. Stay out so they eat this.
Good morning babies. There you go. Is everyone awake? There we go. Wake up babies.
Oh, you're always in it Rihanna. Hop around there darling. Ocean.
The puppies really enjoy their breakfast time. This is just their third morning of having some
solid food. I use the Royal Canon puppy starter mousse. It's a perfect consistency for them.
There's no lumps in it and they really love it.
So that's Stormy. Hi Stormy. He's the dad, Hazel is the mum and Flora is the baby.
So cute. So cute. Stormy is such a happy boy. He's such a happy boy. Yes you are.
Such a happy boy. Yes you are. Good boy.
Good kids. Yeah, good kids. You made some beautiful puppies you two. Yes you did.
Just a shame Bri wouldn't look after them. Okay, Auntie Harriet has stepped up.
Auntie Harriet's looking after them. So I've cleaned the sink.
I am now, I'm going to just put some warm water in.
Make sure it's not too hot, just like you would a baby's bottle or a baby's bath.
I don't put a lot of water in, just a bit of water.
Got my goat's milk soap, little cup ready, got my towels ready, ready to go.
I'm just going to put a hand towel in the bottom to make it less slippery.
I'm going to put a bit extra water in.
Here we've got Skip. Skip is first for the bath. How cute is he?
I make this goat's milk soap myself. It has no harsh chemicals whatsoever in it.
So it's perfectly safe for little puppies.
Give you a nice freshen up, make you smell all beautiful,
get your breakfast off you from this morning.
Just hold on to you carefully.
So because it's their first ever bath, we just make it a nice quick bath
so that it's a nice experience for them. Look at you Skip, look at you, you're all nice and clean.
Yeah, you're all nice and clean. We give you a dry off. You're just too beautiful.
Yeah, I'll give you a nice dry off.
It's good, isn't it? It's a pretty warm day today, so they're not going to get cold.
Get your tummy dry. There we go, you're done.
How cute is he? Phoenix is next for a bath. So cute.
Little red boy Phoenix.
Walk you in. There we go. It's nice, isn't it?
Let your tummy, it's usually their tummy that's got breakfast squashed all over it.
So we give their feet a good little wash there.
The front feet in too. You're nice and relaxed darling, aren't you?
So
your little feet's dry.
You're too cute. Yeah, you're too cute baby. Yes, you are.
Oh, beautiful. Oh, beautiful now. Oh, gorgeous. This is two stripes, a little girl.
She's the cutest face ever. It's hard, black puppies are hard to photograph.
Here we go, keep your face up.
This is Forrest, little red boy. Hi Forrest. Hi baby.
So while I'm bathing the baby, Dan's just going to change the puppy area, freshen it all up,
and put down clean fake turf and a clean fluffy mat for them.
So I'm just going to put some fresh water in.
This is Iris. Say hello Iris. There we are, gorgeous baby.
In we go.
This is Archer. There's Archer, good boy.
This is Rihanna. Look at that cute little tail going. Look at your little tail.
You're so cute. Give your tummy a good wash.
Very last, Ocean.
You've fallen asleep, waiting for your turn, haven't you?
Lovely clean babies. Hey Harriet, good girl. These two are having a nap. Ocean's trying to get in
there. She'll find her way in. So just some of the things. We've got towels under the fake turf.
We've got a temperature guide here. So at the moment it's 26.8 degrees. This middle one is the
temperature. So we're getting close to having to put the air conditioner on.
Puppies don't like it to get much hotter, but since they're all wet from their bath.
So back to puppies. We have fake turf with towels underneath and we have a nice soft fluffy mat for
them. We have the temperature gauge so that we can see if it's getting too hot to keep it on
the right temperature for them. They have a few toys in with them because they've just started to
want to play. They of course play with each other the most and with us when we get in there.
And their little teeth have come through now so they're really wanting to
bite and chew because they're teething naturally. We've also got some water in there for them
which they all have started to drink water now as well which is awesome.
So yeah it's a big job but I mean look at this. Look at these babies.
How cute is that? I mean how cute? It doesn't get much cuter than that. Harriet is the best mummy
ever. She is currently looking after three of her own puppies and five of Briar's puppies because
Briar decided not to be a mum. She didn't want to feed or clean or look after her puppies at all. We
tried for four to five days to get her to feed them but she wouldn't do it. Every couple of hours
we were getting her to lay in the box with the newborn puppies and feed them. We had to put the
she didn't want to be a mummy so that was the end of that. It's just impossible to keep doing it
every couple of hours. That's 24 seven holding her down and putting puppies on. It's just impossible
so we stopped trying and bottle fed for a time. Gave a couple of puppies to Harriet who was happy
to take them and then we gave the rest to Harriet and she's been feeding them
since the two week mark. So for the last two weeks she's had eight puppies on her
which is good. She can handle that amount. She's had eight of her own puppies before.
She's had a litter of eight, litter of seven and a litter of seven. So that's been her three litters
and yeah she's absolutely fine. Actually I think it was eight, five, seven.
But yeah she's eating all the food we can give her which is fantastic. She looks great. She's not
skinny at all which is fantastic. She's holding the weight really well as well as feeding eight
puppies and we have just recently introduced them to solid food which is puppy starter mousse
and yeah the puppies are doing great and Harriet's doing great.
It's Flora in the water. She's getting so big. Stormy is such an adventurer.
He likes going for wanders. Gotta keep an eye on Stormy. Stormy is not our boy. He's here visiting
for quite a few months now but he'll be going home soon. It's a bit sad but his mum and dad
are missing him of course because he's such a good boy. He's fabulous Stormy. That's Briar.
Briar just had puppies. They're four weeks old but she's decided not to be a mummy.
She's decided being a mummy is just not for her. So Harriet has been looking after the baby.
And Flora here is from Hazel's last litter. She's
close to five months now. Here's Hazel. Beautiful girl. Hazel is our queen of the puppy
group. You're the queen of the gang aren't you Hazel? The leader of the pack.
What you doing Stormy? Smelling all the smells. We've had an awful lot of rain this last week.
We've had Cyclone Alfred. It was a fizzer, thank goodness. So we're fortunate that it crossed
Briarby Island on the coast and fizzled out to a
rain depression. So we didn't get any terrible winds or anything. We just got a lot of rain
which we were needing the rain. We just got quite a lot of it that's all.
So everything's full again. The dams are all overflowing. Our tanks are filled up which is
lovely. So we should be right now all through winter. It doesn't rain here in winter
very much. Summer is our storm season when we get rain. But we didn't get a ton of rain this summer.
So it was nice for us. Other people have had flooding of course which is not so great for
people and the people on the coast haven't had a very good time of it. They've been
totally hammered with wind and rain. But us here we've been fine. We've just been getting the rain
which we needed.
