Cycling into China’s Forbidden Lands

We continue our journey across China — entering Gansu province, where the Great Wall of China meets the edge of the Tibetan Plateau.
What started as a peaceful stretch through the desert quickly turned into one of the most unexpected weeks of the trip.

After days of riding through remote roads and ancient Silk Road towns, we climb high onto the plateau — only to be stopped by police and told we’ve entered a restricted area. What follows is a surreal experience, as we’re escorted hundreds of kilometres towards the city of Xining.

This episode captures the vastness, beauty, and mystery of Western China — and the moment our world cycle took a turn we never saw coming.
