Time for you to go ghost bro. This is one of the last levels.
You know when it comes to self-improvement, we know who's really self-improving,
we know who's really working when you can't even reach them. That doesn't mean that you
can't call your friends, it doesn't mean you can't contact them, it doesn't mean that you
can't talk to anybody, but it just means that you're locked in and you're finally putting
your purpose first. I'm busy giving myself time and attention that I need so I could grow,
so I can evolve, so I could be the best version of myself. You gotta just elevate and silence.
If nothing changes in you, nothing changes around you. Everything on the outside is reflecting
whatever you are on the inside. When you smile at a mirror, what happens? You can go from failure
to success, but you can't go from excuses to success. You can't do it. It's not possible,
so don't even try it. When I see a person making excuses, I want to walk in their life,
say my name is John, I'm your friend. Let me explain something to you. That's a dead end
Everything you know will change. The person you are today is not the person you will be tomorrow.
You cannot step into the same river twice because the river is never the same,
and neither are you. The world does not wait for those who resist change. To fight against it is
to fight against life itself. The moment you identify as a victim is the very moment that
you strip away any chance you have at improving your situation. You need to understand that
life doesn't happen to you. It happens for you, and that's no matter how bad your situation is.
I believe when I get to the top of this hill, I can see my destination. I got to the top of the
hill, and I saw another hill. You following me? And after a while, I said, you know what?
There ain't no mountaintop. There ain't no village, and there ain't no destination.
I just, I'm gonna put my foot right there. You know, I'm gonna quit looking up there. I'm just
gonna move a step forward. I'm just gonna take another step forward. I ain't gonna worry about
finding that peak and finding that next hill. I'm just gonna take another step forward.
Are you to the place that you want to be? No, but I'm further along than when I started,
because I'm not at the peak that I'm looking at up there. You can do it, bro. I'll tell you,
you can do it. You can do it, man. It can get better. Get serious. Life is serious.
We call it life or death. Somebody asked me one time if I had a good description of life. I said,
yes, I think I've got a good one. Life is the struggle to keep death at a respectable distance.
What would you do if you just learned today that you only had six months to live? What would you
stop doing? What would you do more of? Who would you spend time with? Now, the answer to that
question is very interesting, because what it tells you is what you really value, what is really
important to you. And what we have found is that self-esteem, satisfaction, happiness in life comes
from getting your goals and your activities congruent with your values, with your priorities,
with what you consider to be really important. You can't see all the cards in your hand.
It's not saying the cards aren't there. It's just you haven't matured enough to see them.
And there will come a time you keep going and you keep learning and you keep growing
that one day you'll look down and the card you needed was there and it's been there all along.
But that ain't gonna come for a while. Most people aren't obsessed with their goals because
they don't believe they're worthy of them. It's easy to dream about what you want,
but in between where you are and what you want, there's a tremendous amount of stuff
you've got to change and do. We lose because we are okay with ignoring our faults, right?
It's not until you can accept your faults, your bullshit, that you can grow and do better.
There's so many things that we place the blame on others for that are truly our responsibility
and it becomes a habit. It's a force of habit. So it's not until you break that habit
that you can do bigger and better ----. I didn't realize how quick life was. Because life is short,
I don't have time to focus on what's not. You have an opportunity of a lifetime
and where much is given, much is required. Everybody knows you got to pay a price for
winning, but most people are willing to pay it. They may pay it once, but literally you
got to pay it every single day. And the crazy part about that is the price changes daily.
Just like the stock market goes up and down, the price of winning changes on a daily, daily basis.
You got to be willing to pay that price, whatever it is on that day.
You have to find a dream that's so big that it overwhelms all of your fears and causes you to
never give up. There's a trip in your life that you want to take two years and it might take 10
years. And you want to make that trip in 10 years, well it might take 20 years. And just because
you're not at your destination right now, does not mean you failed to reach your destination.
It just means you're not there right now. You got to have patience. You got to stay the course,
be disciplined and never lose sight, never lose sight of the base core of your dream.
If you don't at some point be defiant against what the world or your caregivers or your past
experience has pounded into your brain incorrectly, unfairly, you will forever be stuck with that
story. You are not responsible for what happened to you. You survived what happened to you,
but you do have a responsibility to heal yourself. It's a temporary thing. So is life.
I mean, so is life itself. It's temporary. You know, when you really think about it,
it's all temporary. So the way I look at life, especially right now,
is that someday it's going to be your last day. So I'm going to live every day as if it's my last
day and do stuff that I always wanted to do because I don't want to go, oh man, I'm dying
tomorrow. I'm dying now. And I missed it. I don't want to think about what I could have,
should have done. I don't see how in the world I'm going to get out of it and move forward
by taking a step, by taking a step. How big a step, how big a step can you take,
but take a step, right? Just take a step. You keep moving forward. As a man, our only job is
to keep moving forward on our mission. Every man needs a purpose, a mission, and a team. So we must
always be chasing our purpose, mission, and a team. It doesn't mean that just because you're
chasing or looking for it, you're going to find it right away because life comes to us in winning
seasons and losing seasons. And you might be in a losing season. If you keep holding yourself
accountable and moving forward, you will expedite the winning season that's guaranteed to come.
Stop letting people define you. You're going to run into people that's friends, family,
associates. They ain't winning life. They gave up on their dreams. Their dreams, they work out
because they ain't work their dreams. But y'all don't let them tell you that y'all can't work
your dreams. All of y'all got a shot. Be mindful of the information that y'all take in from losers.
There's a lot of losers out here, a lot of losers, a lot of people that gave up on their dreams,
a lot of people that don't love themselves just because they don't love themselves. Don't let
them put their energy on y'all, their insecurities and their fears on y'all. Y'all got a shot out here.
Own your life. Own your life. If I look right now out in the world and also in the past,
what I witness is simply like this. There is the tendency that a lot of things are being outsourced
to everybody else, to institutions, to other people which lie outside of you. Either we look
out for somebody able to give us something or if something is going wrong, we look for someone that
we can blame. So it doesn't matter which direction we go. The point is you never say, I was making
the mistake. It's because of me. It seems like you have a bad day, your colleagues are bad,
the day is bad, the traffic is bad, your work is bad. No, nothing of that is bad. It's your attitude
which is bad. See, the problem is that we oftentimes compartmentalize. We limit ourselves
to such a narrow definition of who we can be and what we can do to impact this world,
to change other lives. You limit God to that. All you thought was just an athlete.
All you thought you were was just the ASB president. All you thought you were was a city
mayor. You're so much more than that. You're so much more than that. And the most amazing thing
is that when you finally get the opportunity to showcase how dynamic you are, how many dimensions
you can traverse, that's when you get to see, wow, I've been playing small this whole time.
Jordan said in one of his interviews when they said, you are unbelievable. You're the greatest
basketball player of all. But he says, for me to become the greatest basketball player,
I missed 9,000 shots. Does it make him a failure? No. We all fail. It's okay. What is not okay is
that when you fail, you stay down. And winners will fail and get up. Fail and get up. You always
get up. You know, a lot of people go around the world and they go like, who am I? You know,
I don't know who I am. And if you want to know who you are, you can make a case to be made,
a very compelling case, that God is telling you who you are by what you love. And if you get close
to what you love, what you love expands. And in the pursuit of excellence in any talent that you
are given, that you are given, that everybody is given, in the expression of excellence at it,
you do honor to your maker. You can only love someone if you know how love feels.
If you don't have love inside of you, how can you give it? If you don't have thankfulness
inside of yourself, how can you give it? So everything is starting with yourself.
What you want to see in this world, what you want to bring into this world,
whatever you think is missing into this world, we are 8 billion people, so maybe 8 billion people
have different ideas what is missing in this world. But the point is, whatever you want to
bring in, first of all, show it. First of all, you be the representative of what you think is missing
Why would you not go for it? Why would you not take a chance? At one point in time,
you got to take a chance on you. And in one moment, it might feel like you've let so much
opportunity go by. But the most exciting thing about it, is there's a whole world of opportunity
before you now. Look at all the doors that have just opened before you, just because you took
one little risk. All of that preparation has led to this moment and you took advantage of it.
And look what's happened. That's the story of the hero. That's the story of this hero. You,
you're that hero. You are the one to step into the spotlight. You are the one to take on the
hardest challenges, the one who can fight multiple battles at the same time because
that's how strong you are. At least, that's how strong you can become. But it has to be your
decision. No one can make you do this. The more responsibility you take on, the more meaning your
life has. And the higher degree of responsibility that you agree voluntarily to try to bear,
the richer your life will be. And no one's ever told that. And it's, it's going to be rough,
you know, because it's complicated. You have a complicated job and you try to help the careers
of the people around you. You try to solve tough problems and aid suffering and do all of that.
It's like, it's weight, it's responsibility, but it's, there's glory in it. There's real glory in
it. There's deep meaning in it. And young people are starving for that because no one ever tells
them that. It's like, you're way more than you think, man, stand up, do something difficult.
Sometimes we don't understand, like, what is this? When is my purpose? Why am I here?
Why do I have to go through this pain? Why do I have to go through this fear all the time?
Why can't I just be peaceful all the time? Then there wouldn't be life.
You never want to be life. You have to, you have to take life at its terms, life on life terms,
not our, life on our terms. Live life on life terms, not on our terms. Something that we call
choice. You have the choice. The suffering comes and you run away, or the suffering comes,
the pain comes and you face it. We are overcoming the suffering.
We are not running away from the suffering. You are overcoming it. So I'm here to tell you that
it will take longer. It will be more difficult. It will require more effort on your part.
But you know what I can tell you about that? When you do the hard things,
you will have a happy and easy life. But if you constantly choose to take the path of easy and
negotiate and compromise, you will have a hard life, a hard life that ends with regret.
These things are going to come up. Opposition is going to come up. Adversity is going to come up.
Difficult times are going to come up. But the people who actually live out their dreams,
it isn't because they don't run into adversity. It isn't because they don't run into challenges.
It isn't because they don't run into negative opinions. It's because they decided to protect
their damn vision. They decided to protect their vision with all their heart. They decided to
protect their dream with all their heart. They decided to protect their talent, their gift that
God has gave them that's meant for you to unwrap and give to the world. They protected with all
their heart because it means that much to them. You see people who do big things and you
automatically say that guy's so lucky. She's so lucky. You don't know that. You're assuming that.
Quit using the word luck. Quit believing in luck and start believing in work. Start believing in
results that come from your actions. The reason most people fail is because they give up what
they want most for what they want now. Fear. Fear is normal. Every person feels fear at some point.
What should you do? Step. Step. Take the step. Step aggressively toward your fear. That is the step
into bravery. We are scared of what we don't know and there is but one way to confront that fear.
Step. Go. I'm becoming a higher version of myself. I am becoming the idealized man. I want to become
the man that my children look up to and idealize. I want to become a role model. I want to be
able to impact and influence and inspire people. The 1.0 version of you whose crop duster is not
going to do that. It is the fighter jet version of you who will do that. It is a man who does not
compromise on his goals and dreams. It is the man who sticks to his core values. It is the man who
draws a line in the sand and says no matter what I will do these things to become 2.0.
How do you get to the gym every day? Step. Go. How do you change your diet? Step. Go.
How do you overcome fear of failure or fear of success or fear of fear itself? Step. Go.
Take that idea that you have to be attached to things and know that you came in with nothing,
with no thing and you're going to leave with nothing, with no thing and understand that your
life is a parenthesis in eternity. Live there without attachment and then take your need to be
in control of yourself, of others, of a situation and shift from control to trust. Letting go and
letting die. Allowing yourself to trust in your nature. Allowing yourself to no longer believe
that everything has to be controlled by me and that other people no longer have to be in control
of me as well. Begin to trust. Nothing changes in your life until you change, right? So then 95% of
who we are is on autopilot, right? It's the programmed thoughts, hardwired thoughts, beliefs,
perceptions, unconscious habits and behaviors and really, really emotional responses that tend to be
knee-jerk and automatic, right? So if 95% of who we are is a set of unconscious programs, then the
first step to change is becoming conscious of those unconscious thoughts. If I truly want to
be a new personality that's in a new personal reality, I can't take lack with me. I can't take
unworthiness. I can't take the story that goes along with it with my parents or my grandparents
or my ex or whatever. That story has to end, right? I mean, if not now, when?
Don't worry about the fact that you don't have all the things you need in order to make it happen.
Decide that you're going to do something about it. Become an active force in your life.
See, you've got some talents and abilities right now you have that if you don't challenge yourself
to use those talents and abilities, you'll never ever discover the full effect that they can have
on achieving all the things that you want to achieve. Most people go through life never using
the power they have. You have enormous power to begin to create all the things that you want in
your life experience, but most people go through life never using. And the first action you need
to take, the first step you need to take, the first step you need to take is just that. Step. Go.
Now. Turn your feelings off when it comes down to you wanting to be better. What that means is
when that alarm clock goes off, your feelings got to go away. It's raining outside, it's cold outside,
but you don't want to put those long hours in at work. That's what I'm talking about. Your feelings
must go away. When everybody leaves to go home and there's only one light on in a building, a 15-story
building, and only one office, that's the mother right there you got to be. That is true, but you
got to learn to shut your feelings off if you want to achieve greatness. People that are hungry believe
always strive to get on top in life because it's the bottom that's overcrowded. People that are
hungry know if you want to be successful, you must be willing to do the things today others won't do
in order to have the things tomorrow others won't have. The difference between who you are
and who you want to be is what you do today. Everything tomorrow, I'll get you it tomorrow,
or I'll get you the next day. Who told you you had to tomorrow? Who told you that?
Come on, come on. Nah, nah, no opportunity wasted. Nah, no opportunity wasted. Nah,
no opportunity wasted. How arrogant are you to think that if you don't do it right now,
do it when you have the opportunity, that you're going to have the same opportunity a week from now?
How arrogant? How arrogant of you to think that if you don't get it done today, that that same
opportunity is going to present itself six weeks later? How arrogant of you?
The number one thing that's going to change your life, the only thing that will change your life,
change your business, change your money, change your relationship, is you must raise your standard.
The only thing that changes our life long term is when we raise our standards. It means
that all of us in life have things we want. We don't get what we want. We get what we have to
have. We all get what we tolerate in ourselves and other people. But when you're no longer
willing to tolerate something, that's when your life changes. I say chase your dreams, man.
Do that thing, man, that keeps you up at night. That thing that bothers you, man,
that makes you trip. You can't quit thinking about it. You always, that thing, man, that you
wake up in the middle of the night, you got a new idea. That's what you got to chase. Because anything
else, it's going to disappoint you. You're going to forever be sad, man. If you don't chase that dream,
you're going to forever be miserable, man. I would hate to die and never do the thing I was born to do.
That's a sad thing, man. There's times in your life when things are going to happen
that you've got to begin to put your dream on hold. And you might have to reinvent yourself.
It's called life. And don't tell everybody about it. 80% don't care and 20% glad as you.
You have to suck it up and handle it. Being a risk taker, walking by faith and not by sight,
that stuff happens to you. It's something that you have to harness. Something that you want to be.
You have to be that person that has developed a game changer mindset. A person that wants to be
the uncommon amongst the uncommon. Game changer is a ************ that says,
I've been trained in my entire life to take the big shot. I'm talking about a person that knows
their value and knows that when it comes to the table, it's the best in the world.
A game changer has built that belief through hard work. They know who they are.
And they bring the difference to the table. If you do what is easy, your life will be hard.
But if you do what is hard, your life will be easy because the war path is also a war against
weakness. And so it leads to strength. It is a war against ignorance. And so it leads to knowledge.
It is a war against confusion. And so it delivers understanding and the war path leads to control
and to ownership of your life. That is the war path, the path of fire and adversity,
the path of blood and sweat and suffering. The war path is the interminable path of discipline,
which is why it leads to freedom. In the end, a war path leads to peace.
I do think that if you sit on the edge of your bed and things aren't going very well for you
and you ask what foolish thing you're doing to make it worse, that you'll get an answer right
now. And it won't be the one you want, but it might be the one that if you listen to would
set things straight. It might be something that you really don't want to contend with.
But if you clear some space to meditate on that, the probability that you'll figure out
something that you did that was stupid, that's bending you and twisting you in the wind,
you'll get an answer. I have nothing in common with lazy people who blame others for their lack
of success. Great things come from hard work and perseverance. No excuses. We're not lazy.
We take ownership. We take full responsibility. We never play the blame game. We never make
excuses. The buck stops with me and the buck stop now. You're forgetting the person that's the most
responsible for your success. You're forgetting about the person that's most responsible for
your happiness. You're forgetting about the person that is most important to you.
Between the acting of a dreadful thing and the first motion, all the interim is like a phantasma
or a hideous dream. Between the acting of a dreadful thing, between the moment when you
are waiting to do something that you don't want to do, and the first motion, and the moment when
you initiate the action, all the interim, the whole time you are waiting to take that action,
is like a phantasma or a hideous dream, is like an evil specter, an apparition, a nightmare.
So the battle, the struggle, the hesitation takes place in that moment.
That moment when we must step into the unknown. Do you want the hard of regret when you're older
and you're on your deathbed and regretting the opportunities you didn't take, the risks you
didn't take, the experiences you didn't have? Or do you want the hard of each time you took those
risks and opportunities and had those experiences? Yeah, they were overwhelming. Yeah, they were hard.
Yeah, it freaked you out, but it ended up making you a better human. If you take away suffering
and leave discomfort, you realize that the only difference between discomfort and suffering
is resistance. If each day you do difficult things and make these daily optimizations,
each day through the doing of micro difficulties, you build greater self-respect. And as you build
greater self-respect, you fall in love with yourself. It's a great way to build self-love.
I think one of the tactics to remember is how do you grow self-love? You consistently make and then
keep self-promises. A moment filled with fear and horror. And that fear is what causes hesitation.
And hesitation causes defeat. Hesitation is the enemy. Hesitation allows the moment to pass,
the opportunity to be lost, the enemy to get the upper hand. Hesitation turns into cowardice.
It stops us from moving forward, from taking initiative, from executing what we know we must.
Life I've discovered always sends you scenarios perfectly designed to teach you the lessons you
most need to learn to get to your next grade of growth. Things never unfold for your failure.
Everything always happens in your favor. And we are most alive when we are closest to our fears.
The major key to your taking charge of your destiny is you. It's you. And even though you
might not have all the things going for you that you would like, you have the power within you as
you begin to develop your consciousness, as you hold the vision of what it is that you want to do,
as you decide to enter this small voice within you. Because as you respond to this voice that's
telling you you ought to do this, the way will come. Ideas will come to you. You will begin to
attract things you need and things that you don't even know that you need right now. But if you
don't put yourself out here, if you don't become actively involved in life, if you hold back on
yourself and continue to procrastinate, most people go through life as volunteer victims.
They go through life volunteering to be victims, giving excuses on why they're not pursuing their
greatness, giving excuses on why they're not doing the things that they want to do, putting it off
again and again and again, wasting valuable time. Life is very valuable, ladies and gentlemen.
Time is very valuable. And it's very fragile. You've got to decide to do what you can right now
and don't delay. Hesitation defeats us. So we must defeat it. To win,
all you have to do is overcome that moment, the waiting, the hesitation. And to do that,
all you have to do is go, move, take the action, get out of bed, get your feet on the ground,
step forward. Do not hesitate. Do not wait. Go forward and win. As I see so many people
give away their vision, I see so many people stop going hard for their dreams. I see so many people
not unwrapping their gifts, not because they ain't capable of it, not because they don't want to do
it. It's because they allow something outside of them to kill the power, to kill the joy,
to kill the drive, to kill the hunger that's inside of them. And I want to tell you right
now, you can't allow nothing to kill that from you. You got to be like a lion for your goals.
You got to be like a lion for your dreams. You got to be like a lion for your vision.
You got to be like a lion for the best you. You got to be like a lion for your greatness.
When you look in the mirror, you can lie and see what's on the surface,
cannot lie what's going on inside. And that's where people are not willing to see the lies
that are truly going on inside of them that are not allowing them to win over and over,
sometimes even win once. You have to look. Winning requires you to go so far deep inside yourself.
It's way beyond the surface. It's way beyond intangible. It's going to a place that
a lot of people haven't visited in a long, long time because they're afraid to visit that person
because when they visit that person, they don't know who that person is anymore.
That is what you really need to be afraid of, being stagnant. So get up and go.
Take the risk. Take the gamble. Take the first step. Take action. And don't let another day
slip by. Like there is no secret. There is no quick fix. There is no hack. There is no path
of least resistance. The quickest way for you to go from where the you are to where you want to be
is that you're trying to avoid doing it. Everything that happens, use it for your upliftment,
learning and growth. In the midst of it, ask what can I learn from this?
What can I get from it? How did I end up here? What's the blessing in this for me?
Ask yourself that, whatever it is. And don't let it go until you get your blessing out of it
because there's a blessing there. There's a lesson there. There's something for you in everything
that happens to you for you to learn from that experience. Look at it. Examine it.
Analyze it. Dissect it. Take it apart until it reveals itself to you and then get what you need
from that and move on. Life and winning is a bunch of sprints within a marathon.
Bunch of sprints within a marathon. And you can't see the end line. Like in a marathon,
you know where the end line is. And winning, that win, that race may have an end line,
but there's another start line right after. People that are really driven. And this is not about
money and this isn't about fame. This is about, you could be winning as a school teacher. You
could be winning as an entrepreneur. You could be winning in business. You could be winning as
an athlete. It's that every single time you sprint to that finish line,
there's another start line that's coming. It's why it never ends. It's a marathon that just keeps
going, going, and going. Every opportunity is the last opportunity. Every opportunity,
I have to reprove myself again. Because the day you become condensed, the day you stop evaluating
yourself, the day you stop growing, the day you stop getting better is the day you die,
is the day the person who's trying to catch you will get you. Fear of failure will stop you from
cutting corners. Fear of failure will keep you working, thinking, striving, and relentlessly
trying to be more prepared for battle. So I want you to be afraid of failing. I fear failure,
but more important, I want you to be horrified, terrified of sitting on the sidelines and doing
nothing. Stay focused. Don't listen to nobody. What's on your mind, just do it. Because what's
testing for you, you're going to get it. What come out your mouth is what's going to come back to
you. It's the law of attraction. I never get nobody. You're not. I can't lose this weight.
You sure ain't. I'm going to get fit this year. Strong possibility. I'll never be rich.
Promise you, you won't. I'm going to be rich one day. Strong possibility. That's how it works,
man. It is the law of attraction. The moment you say it, you began the change. It's the process.
When events happen in our life, it's not necessary to keep carrying them,
especially if they're negative ones. You can just stop right there and go on to the next thing.
It's a choice. Do I want to be in an environment where I'm not happy? Or do I want to be in an
environment where I am happy? But most of us have that choice, but are so caught up in conventional
rules and conventional way of mannerisms and social structure that we hold ourselves in
places we don't even want to be. This delusion we've sold people on,
that getting what you want is going to make you happy. You know, you could call success getting
what you want. I don't define it that way, but that's how most people do. But then there's
fulfillment. And fulfillment is living what you're made for. It's like, I think the biggest challenge
people have, and the reason they're not able to respond to challenges, they're just thinking about
themselves. And it's not that hard to meet your own needs. Right? It's not a straight line. If you
go to nature, you will not see a straight line unless a human built it. Because everything grows
a little up and down like a stock, like anything else. But if it really grows, it keeps going,
but it's a winding process. And so I think the problem is that people don't have something
that they're wanting to serve more than themselves. I didn't put myself out here.
See, the reason that most of us go through life never discovering our true greatness,
literally walking, breathing corpses, the uncommitted life isn't worth living.
Why? Because it doesn't produce anything. See, you only make things happen. Your life only counts.
You only make a difference when you are committed, when you make a commitment with your life.
We've got to be excited about the future. We've got to do things that make us want to live. It
cannot always be about problems every day. I mean, do you want to wake up every morning,
everything's just a problem? Or what inspires you and what makes you excited about the future?
There's got to be some things like that.
