It's time to try a new type of cold weather motorcycle camping: camping in a yurt at the Oregon Coast. "What is a yurt," you ask? A yurt is like the love child of a cabin and a teepee, and they offer year-round camping comfort no matter the weather outside. This particular yurt is at Beverly Beach state park near Newport, Oregon. In this video, I load up my 2022 Kawasaki KLR 650 Adventure with all of my motorcycle camping gear (except for my tent and air mattress, which I don't need on this trip) and motorcycle travel over the mountains to the Oregon Coast. After securing some firewood and carrying firewood on a motorcycle back to my camp, I headed into Newport for an early dinner at one of my favorite restaurants: Brewer's on the Bay at the Rogue Brewery. One amazing burger (the Rogue Dead Guy Burger) and several delicious beer samples later, I headed back to my yurt just in time to catch the sunset on the Oregon Coast before heading back to camp to enjoy a campfire. After a comfortable evening sleeping in a yurt, I enjoyed some morning motorcycle camping coffee before packing up my motocamping gear on my KLR 650 and heading back over the mountains for home. A yurt is a fantastic option for motorcycle camping in cold or wet weather, and you can bet I'll be back to camp in a yurt again very soon!
