Israel Says Ceasefire Now in Effect in Gaza | NTD Good Morning (Oct. 10)
Israel and the Hamas terror group have agreed to a U.S.-brokered cease-fire, ending two years of war in Gaza and ensuring the release of all Israeli hostages. Under the agreement, Israel will release more than 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, and its military will withdraw to control just over half the Gaza Strip. U.S. personnel will monitor the agreement from Israel. Celebrations have erupted across the region.
New York State Attorney General Letitia James is facing federal charges for bank fraud and making false statements. Prosecutors say she lied about a second home to secure better loan terms, then rented it out illegally. James said the indictment is political retaliation. President Donald Trump's son, Eric Trump, commented on the indictment, accusing James of trying to destroy his family.
Senators voted late on Thursday to approve next year's $924 billion National Defense Authorization Act. It's more expensive than the House version, so the two chambers will need to work out differences. Key measures include ending authorization for the use of military force in Iraq, support for Ukraine, a pay increase for service members, and the purchase of new ships and aircraft. The unusual bipartisan consensus was forged as congress entered the 10th day of a government shutdown with no deal in sight. Senators have left town for the weekend and won't be back until Tuesday, ensuring the shutdown will continue for at least the next 4 days.
