It's now or never for Indonesia and Saudi Arabia as they face off in Group B of the Asian qualifiers
Road to 26 playoffs. Straight into the action with a free kick for the team in red. Indonesia
whipped in by Dean James towards Kevin Dix but a handball by Hassan Al-Tanbakti
leaves the referee and VAR no choice but to point to the spots. Kevin Dix the man from
slots it into the bottom left corner to pick up his first international goal for Indonesia
and give the underdogs the perfect start. Saudi Arabia of course looking to qualify for their
third consecutive World Cup so a big reaction needed now and that reaction in the 17th minute
with his first international goal at senior level to level things up here in Jeddah.
Beautiful strike a drop of the shoulder to create the space and then guides it into that bottom
corner and then the center of attention again in the 30th minute with an absolute thunderbolt
off the crossbar. The action just keeps on coming in this thoroughly entertaining contest
in Group B. Another VAR decision then in the 32nd minute. Al-Brikan brought down by Jacob Sayuri
Al-Brikan stepping up himself to take that penalty and put it into the back of the net.
Saudi Arabia turning things around inside the first 45 minutes. Martin Paz gets a hand to it
can't keep it out. Saudi Arabia 2-1 up at the break into the second half and the action just
kept on coming. Next chance for Al-Brikan and what a stop by Martin Paz there scrambling to get across
and then a full stretch stops the ball from crossing the line. Very nearly a third for Saudi
Arabia there. Keep on coming though. 62nd minute now. Long range effort saved by Paz but can't
keep the rebound out. Al-Brikan gets his second of the game. His 13th goal in his 58th appearance
for Saudi Arabia. A well-taken goal by the Al-Ahly striker. VAR then called upon again
in the 87th minute. Nawaf Bouhachil handling the ball inside his own penalty area
and Kevin Dix with a chance to score from the spot again. A brace for the Indonesia
central defender. Mohamed Kano then shown yellow for time wasting. Another four descents. Saudi
Arabia down to 10 men however 3-2 the final score anyway as Saudi Arabia take a big step
towards automatic qualification but both teams still must face Iraq. Indonesia do so on the 11th
of October while Saudi Arabia play them on the 14th.
