Co-curator Anne-Marie Bouchard shares how the artists portrayed Quebecโs landscape at a pivotal moment in historyโjust as industrialization began to alter the scenery. In their work, they captured an idealized vision, intentionally omitting signs of change to preserve a fleeting moment of natural beauty.
"They were looking at these landscapes that were changing a lot, and they felt like they were losing something," explains Bouchard. "A moment in time that was changing forever, and they wanted to capture it in paintings."
