De-Dollarization Accelerates - BRICS Digital Currency System Challenges U.S. Power
Hello and welcome back. Thank you so much for joining. If you haven't already, go ahead and

great platform for us to connect and to share information. Now back to the topic of this video.
I think this is a very, very exciting one. The Russian government has just suggested the
possibility of integration of financial settlement platforms in Russia, China, and India. Russia,
China, and India may unite, that is, to conduct settlements using digital currencies. The
information systems of the three countries could be combined for transactions in digital currencies,
said Anatoly Aksakov, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets during his
recent interview with Vesti FM Radio. Here's what he said, and I will share the details.
Today, China has already developed its digital yuan, and India will soon be actively introducing
the digital rupee into the economy. Therefore, in principle, we could integrate our information
systems and technologies with those of China, India, and other countries. The digital ruble
would then automatically convert into the digital yuan at the market exchange rate, he said. He also
added that the same would apply to the rupee. Money will move within information systems, bypassing
banks, and therefore no one abroad will be able to see these transactions, he suggested. Moreover,
according to Aksakov, this process would be in high demand. Of course, it will be, and it would
also resolve many issues that relate to currency conversion and the interaction of financial
institutions, since there would be no intermediaries such as SWIFT. This would maximize and optimize,
he said, mutual trade. He also noted that the financial component would work very efficiently
in facilitating cooperation between the countries. In other words, it will enhance cross-border trade
and support local economies. Given that China, Russia, and India are the three biggest economies
of the BRICS economic alliance, once this goes live, it will be life-changing. It will be huge,
and not only for these three nations, but for the entire world. For more than seven decades,
the American dollar has ruled the world's economies. It is the anchor of global trade,
the benchmark of financial stability, and as of the end of 2024, it still makes up nearly 60%
of global foreign exchange reserves. So, it is not going anywhere overnight, of course it's not,
but the dominance, the so-called exorbitant privilege of the dollar, is now being challenged
like never before via these new alternative payment platforms that are emerging. For years,
China and Russia, India, and the global majority in general have watched as the United States
leveraged the dollar's dominance to project power far beyond its borders, and it's been doing it
via freezing assets, enforcing sanctions, and dictating who can and who cannot participate
in the global economy. When Washington froze hundreds of billions of dollars of Russian
reserves in 2022 of its sovereign assets, it sent a shockwave across the global south.
If this could happen to Russia and nuclear power, it could happen to anyone. Now, Brussels is using
Russian sovereign assets, the interest that it earns, to continue funding the conflict.
In recent years, BRICS nations have begun laying the groundwork for something completely new,
a financial system that operates beyond the reach of US control.
Russia started doing this back in 2014, when it was first sanctioned by the United States.
You said that the dollar was used as a weapon. It is true, and we see that.
I think it is a great mistake by those who do it, since the use of the dollar,
which is still the most important tool in global finance,
and its use as a political tool undermines trust in this currency.
At the center of the effort is BRICS Pay, which, as we discussed previously here on my channel,
is a decentralized cross-border payment network that is designed to process transactions in
national currencies instead of the US dollar. Here's where it gets really, really interesting.
Unlike SWIFT, the Western-dominated messaging system that underpins most international
transactions, BRICS Pay is being developed as an open-source technology, meaning every member
nation can run its own node with no mandatory transaction fees and full interoperability.
It aims to integrate existing systems such as Russia's SPFS, China's CIPS, UnionPay,
and India's Unified Payments Interface, as well as Brazil's PIX.
Together, they could form the backbone of an entirely new financial infrastructure,
one that rivals SWIFT in speed and in security, processing up to 20,000 messages per second,
but without dependence on the West.
Russia just confirmed it. Progress is definitely gradual, but the momentum is undeniable.
Russia has already reported that 90% of its BRICS trade happens in national currencies.
India and China have begun trading in rupees and yuan. Brazil is now exploring settlement in
rials, so it's not yet a direct assault on the dollar, of course not, but it is a clear signal
that the world is shifting toward multipolar finance as it develops new technological platforms.
Washington is not really sitting quietly. Trump has launched a full counterattack. As you know,
he threatened 100% tariffs on any nation that adopts a joint BRICS currency and then an
additional 10% on those that are building systems that he deems anti-American. The result has,
of course, shocked Washington because political risk for BRICS countries has spiked, sure,
but so has their determination to devise alternative payment systems.
Despite some internal tensions within BRICS, something is definitely changing. The idea of
a single shared BRICS currency has faded. That is not going to happen. It's simply not practical at
this point, but a new strategy is now taking its place, one that is focused on practical steps,
such as more bilateral trade in national currencies, stronger domestic payment systems,
and a gradual build-out of the BRICS pay network. It won't happen overnight. Experts say a full
alternative to SWIFT or the dollar could still be decades away. Of course, things happen very,
very quickly and anything can change, but the foundations are being laid right now. For the
first time since World War II, the world's financial architecture is beginning to shift,
and this time through quiet, deliberate re-engineering. The question is no longer
if the dollar will face competition, it's how soon and how prepared Washington will be
when that happens. Let me know what you think about this shift toward multipolar finance.
