New Makeup Releases - Are They Worth It? | Buy or Bye?

Hey everyone welcome back my name is Carmel and in today's video we have our next episode of buy or buy where I take you through some new makeup and beauty releases and tell you whether I think they are worth checking out or whether they are an easy pass. So if that sounds like something that you might be interested in then please do keep on watching. I am very conscious that I'm not speaking about much drugstore this month but there is there's nothing that I've seen that is on the horizon that I can talk about because I do obviously look for both drugstore both high-end and luxury but I haven't seen anything else but you know we are coming up to that time of year where there's not really a whole lot going on other than makeup releases for the holidays and I did just want to update you because I've had some questions for example about the hourglass palette. I made the decision not to purchase one this year honestly I still have mine from last year there's still tons left of it it will probably last me another five years. I really didn't feel the need to go out and purchase one I know that a lot of you were waiting for me to review and I'm really really sorry I just I don't want to be wasteful and obviously I do buy a lot of makeup but I want to be really mindful about the things that I choose and I want to make sure I'm actually going to use I actually have the intention of using whether it's good or not is a different story and me having two hourglass palettes one from last year and one from this year just feels a little bit crazy to me because I know I'm not going to make my way through them so I decided not to do that so I know some of you are going to be really disappointed but I hope that you respect why I decided not to splurge on it this year. There is one release now I'm not sure if this is classed as a holiday release or not but makeup by mario have released a new ethereal palette now this is not available here in Ireland yet obviously because we don't get anything ever on time we always have to wait oh my gosh it's so annoying but anyway it's available in the US you probably have it right there don't you I know you do you already have it I want it but this palette is $69 it looks absolutely stunning I oh as soon as I saw the palette I thought oh that's a bit of me that's a bit of me that I love it even the green I am desperate to try that even though I don't even use colour on my eyes I want to use that green right there I have to say I don't watch reviews from people before I try something but a short popped up from Morgan Turner and I saw her saying that she thought that the formulas had changed from his previous palette well guess what I don't have his previous palette so I don't think I'll be disappointed so obviously this is a very neutral very earthy palette and it includes glossy shimmers suede satin suede matte natural metallics and it just looks like something that I would use consistently as I said before I definitely tend to use more makeup moving into the autumn and moving into the winter and so I would be more inclined to pick up eyeshadow palettes like this and use them regularly so yeah I really want that but when will we get it who knows your guess is as good as mine but yes my intention is to absolutely get that so yeah we'll see we'll see when it arrives I actually wanted to mention a new release to Europe you already have them over there in the US the Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow sticks these I think have been out for a while in the US so you are probably way over it but I'm not over it okay I've been waiting for these to be released so they are finally here in Europe and I have picked up a shade I'm waiting for it to be and I picked up the shade Toasty which is a really beautiful copper bronze oh it looks right up my alley so I have picked up one of those and and just to go back to my previous buy or buy videos I have a video planned for in the next couple of weeks where I test out a few of the products that I've spoken about in previous buy or buy videos so for example the YSL foundation the Makeup Forever concealer I have picked up quite a few items and I'm just going to pop them into one video and that video will include this Urban Decay eyeshadow stick I'm very excited to try that out retails for around about 28 euros I love one and done eyeshadows they just make my life a whole lot easier and I wasn't interested in the previous Urban Decay eyeshadow palette that they released the multi-tasking eyeshadow palette you know the one that I had the audacity to call boring I know me talk about the spade calling the spade I wasn't interested in that one but really excited for the eyeshadow stick so that's that's coming soon there's a lot of holiday releases that are on the way at the moment and I'm not massively interested in any of them really because you can't get them again and that just infuriates me I want to be able to repurchase these things but we have to talk about the Charlotte Tilbury palette so these are the instant look in a palette face palette look I'm always tempted by a bit of Charlotte Tilbury I'm not gonna lie to you I am a Charlotte Tilbury fan but no I wasn't really interested in those face palettes I think they look really pretty and I think face palettes like this really do serve a purpose but for me it's just nothing that I don't already have I I'm just not interested in it at this stage in my life that sounds really dramatic doesn't it it's not that deep I just didn't feel like I wanted to spend 70 euros on a face palette that I'm probably not going to get a whole lot of use of so there's a lighter color story and a deeper one um yeah I like the look of the deeper one but just not not for me really especially someone who prefers to use cream products and liquid products I don't think I would really get use of it so yeah they look nice they look pretty the packaging looks absolutely stunning but I I won't be reviewing that um this year I'm afraid so a few people have mentioned this next product to me and this is a new cushion foundation and this is by Sculpted by Amy so if you've never heard of Sculpted by Amy they're actually an Irish owned brand and I have really really enjoyed a lot of her products so I really enjoy the dewy second skin foundation I think it's really beautiful and actually I don't use it enough now she's released a cream cushion foundation so it claims to hydrate smooth and support your skin for morning to after hours it delivers customizable coverage so obviously it sounds very buildable it includes what is it you are sick of me ranting about niacinamide but I'm gonna keep doing it until they stop putting it in everything stop it oh my gosh like I wouldn't mind if it was hyaluronic acid okay hyaluronic acid I get it but so many people have an intolerance to niacinamide so why do you have to chuck it in everything because surely you are eliminating you are excluding a great deal of people because there are so many people that just will not even entertain it because it has niacinamide in it now because I'm a little bit dense I still go ahead and use niacinamide now honestly sometimes I can tolerate it sometimes I can't I do not use a specific niacinamide in my skincare well I don't need to do I because I have it in all of my makeup but going back to the foundation for what I would class as an independent brand there's a ton of shades 33 shades which is the same as the makeup my mario foundation so that's pretty amazing so it retails for 32 euros and honestly I said this to one of my lovely friends viewers and Marie she asked me if I'd seen it and I and I was like yeah I have but I literally have one face I have one face and I have reviewed so many foundations in recent weeks and I still have more to review and I don't know who I think I am how am I going to wear all of these foundations I literally have one little face here or one big face I don't know is it little is it big I don't know I really don't think I'm going to pick this up because people keep asking me about it I feel like I probably need to oh do you want me to review it tell me just tell me in the comments I will do it if you want me to so I've seen that Chanel have a new concealer out and honestly I did have this in my basket I had it in my basket ready to go it's 47 euros and I'm just going to be real look Chanel is pricey okay we all know that we all are aware that Chanel are expensive but there have been very few Chanel products that I've not loved okay especially for the complexion but I don't really gravitate towards them very much anymore so I was definitely intrigued the ultra little le correcteur oh my gosh that is such a terrible terrible attempt at French but anyway it claims to be a high performance waterproof concealer that delivers 12 hours of wear and hydration 8.5 grams that's a lot actually why do they do that in grams and not mill I can't my brain cannot compute grams but I know it's a lot so yeah that's decent actually it is decent because you know they do trick us sometimes when it comes to concealers they give us a low price but they're giving us really minimal product this was my rationale behind not picking up the Chanel I decided instead to pick up the makeup forever concealer that I spoke about a couple of buy or buy videos ago because it is just more accessible it's more affordable so I decided to pick up the makeup forever I may pick up this Chanel concealer as well if you want me to review it let me know because you know I don't have to be convinced and you know that I do like to have a balance on this channel of high-end luxury and drugstore and that is definitely at the top end it's definitely very pricey for a concealer but yeah if you want to see it let me know down in the comments every time I do one of these videos either Nyx or Catrice always have some new launches so Catrice have some new lip liners which can I say they look so high-end and they look like they're twist ups which is a dream to me the gel glide long-lasting lip liner now obviously the shade ranges are pretty poor which you know Catrice have definitely got better with their shade ranges but sometimes I feel like they take a few steps back but anyway the shades look fine and they seem to correlate with their new peptide bliss glossy lip balms so yeah I don't really tend to buy a lot of lip balms at this time of year to be honest they're kind of more my summer jam summer jam what am I talking about tend to use more lip balms in the summer go for lipsticks in the fall and the winter I just wear a lot more makeup in the winter I don't know does it just make me feel better maybe if I can get hold of them I will absolutely review those I love drugstore lip liners and when I looked at the video of these on the Catrice Instagram page they look so pigmented so smooth here's the thing I can never get Catrice items they just don't come into my local drugstore I have to search for them online and usually I'm so slow and they're all sold out but if I can get my hands on them I will I spoke about a Catrice liquid lipstick actually in my previous buy or buy and I said I was going to pick one up and I did I did get one of the red shades of the liquid lipstick so I will incorporate that into a video soon now the other thing that Catrice have this is the velvet pudding blurring blush here's the thing I know that Catrice must go out intentionally to dupe brands but usually they do it in a way that is not so obvious you know like elf and revolution they will literally just okay we're copying you and we're not even gonna hide it but Catrice are usually a little bit more subtle but this this this blurring blush first of all looks amazing but when I was watching it I was like I've seen this somewhere before and they look just like my three blurring pudding pots and I don't think they've even tried to hide it I mean they have blurring in the name so yeah I'm I'm always a little bit disappointed when they do that and they actually have the same applicator as well that we do and that just always disappoints me when brands kind of pinch ideas like that like I know that I look I know that it happens I get that but do they have to be so obvious at least change the name anyway the difference between the Catrice blushes and the Fwee is that unfortunately Catrice only seem to have two shades on the European site so they have a raspberry shade and a peach shade so these claim to be a bouncy pudding like texture and soft blurring blush buildable coverage for a long lasting flush look and I would imagine you can use these on the lips as well as you can with the Fwee I mean look if I can get hold of one yes I mean I love blush and I'll never say no but I'm not going to go out of my way to get one of these because I know it's just going to be like the Fwee so and the Fwee are affordable enough in my opinion so I just wanted to talk about some makeup brushes so BK Beauty have released the Nicola Rose Pro so it's an eight piece set I do have her first set which I absolutely adore I mean you know that I love BK Beauty I use BK Beauty every single day of my life they are my number one brushes and I was taking a look at this collection now as far as I can gather they haven't been released as singles yet now it's sold out online anyway honestly she could sell eyes to the Eskimos that lady I mean it's obviously no shocker that it's been sold out but I think I will wait until they are sold as singles because I don't really need everything that's in that collection but there's a few brushes that I'm really really interested in so the ultimate contour brush looks really nice I think for for me it would be for bronzer I don't use a whole lot of contour to be honest but I really like the look of those detailed little eyeshadow brushes you know for me who has deep set eyes I need all the precision that I can get yeah I think when they come out as individuals I will probably pick up a few of those I know that they will be of the highest quality because Nicola Rose is well she's a master in her field isn't she and obviously I already have her original volume one brushes and they are absolutely just stunning they are so delightful to use and I would absolutely recommend them to anybody but um yeah even if I wanted them I can't have them because they're sold out so yeah I'll definitely pick up a couple of those when they become available oh I did just want to talk about the new Huda Beauty powder it would be weird if I didn't talk about this because I love Huda Beauty powder the loose powder I live for it so Huda has released an easy bake loose powder brightening and correcting duo so this powder claims to be an all-in-one solution for brightening setting neutralizing and lifting the skin so it helps create a flawless matte complexion whilst minimizing shine and blurring uneven texture and honestly I know that I would love this if I tried it I have the original easy bake in shade pound cake and I recently picked up a mini of the cherry blossom cake which I absolutely adore as well but do I need this duo the answer is no and it would be a little bit ridiculous of me to go and buy another powder when I don't actually need it yeah look I know that it will be an amazing product I think it's a really good idea to have different shades of powder in one compact it's giving Givenchy vibes isn't it that was the beauty of the Givenchy is that you had a quad of different shades so each shade would do something different so whether you wanted neutralizing or whether you wanted brightening that's why the Givenchy was so popular because it had that mix of shades in just one compact in one product do I think it's yes has it been done before yes is it something that I find necessary to go out and run out and purchase no do I think you should run out and purchase it not really if you have the original stick with that you don't need to go out and run out and get this because yeah you you will have different shades of powder in your drawer already I know you do I know that you have a pink in there I know that you have a translucent in there just use them together and Bob's your uncle you've got this product already I do just want to end talking about another luxury product and these are the Dior ultra long-lasting shine lipsticks so one of my beautiful viewers friends Heidi she literally broke my heart into she said that she'd been speaking to someone at Dior I'm pretty sure when she was away on holiday and they had said that they are discontinuing my favorite lipsticks from Dior which are these the Dior hydrating shine lipsticks she said that these my holy grails are being replaced by these new Dior rouge shine lipsticks so I thought well I'd better take a look at them if I'm not going to get my beloved hydrating shine lipsticks anymore let me just pop the picture on the screen for you look at that picture of those lipsticks don't you just want every single one of them I do I definitely do now these are different to the hydrating shine lipsticks because there's only 10 shades so I'm really hoping that there's more on the way if you are going to be taking away the hydrating shine lipsticks but they basically range from nudes to bold reds so these claim to have a glossy shine and intense color ultra long wear and yeah I mean they look gorgeous let's be honest we know that they'll be amazing but looking at the there is one shade that I know I have to have and it's called Confidant Nude and I need that it just looks like the most perfect nude lipstick you know that I love drugstore lipsticks I've got a drugstore lipstick on today I'm wearing my Revlon Super Lustrous today in the shade Nude Illuminator love this I'm wearing a drugstore lip liner from Morphe in the shade Honey so I do not need high-end lipsticks but I think it's okay to also like luxury as well and honestly in terms of luxury lipsticks Dior are the only ones that I repurchase they're the only ones so obviously MAC I would say MAC are more mid to high-end I would say in this climate anyway because everything is costing a fortune but honestly Dior lipsticks are something that I continue to repurchase so yes I definitely need to go and try one of those anyway I did want to ask before we finish have you seen any new drugstore on the horizon I've not seen anything else on the way that I can talk about so yes I'm really sorry if this felt like a really high-end heavy luxury heavy video but there was nothing else to talk about nothing else is being released from the drugstore come on
