Hello, it's Lindsay.
Let's do this.
Hello and good morning.
I'm at the skate park again.
Because I am now obsessed with the skate park and I cannot get enough.
Especially of this half pipe.
As I arrived.
I'm pretty sure people were laughing at me.
But it's okay.
I'm totally ready to be laughed at.
And we'll be laughing at myself too.
So.
We're gonna be doing half pipe stuff today.
We're gonna be doing
turning
at the top.
Trying to turn in one single motion.
And
I want to work on stalls.
We're gonna put that toe stop down.
We're gonna do some sort of kicking.
And
hopefully increase to some bigger
sort of kicking.
Okay, let's do this.
Let's do this.
Here we go.
Go.
I'm going to warm up first, then we're going to try some stalls.
That one wasn't very good, and it definitely wasn't a stall, so I'm going to try again.
I feel like I was going to try stalls first, I was definitely going to do just my hardest
trick first.
Okay.
Now to practice some stalls.
Okay, so I went up and I thought about trying a stall, and immediately panicked.
This is going to be hard.
Okay, that's the worst that could happen, right?
That's the worst that could happen, trying a mini stall.
So I should just go for it.
I should just go really hard.
Just go hard, do a huge kick.
No.
Now, we go for, they said the Maryland stall first.
Yeah, let's try every stall in the video that I watched this morning.
So the first one, it was in the Queer Girl Straight Skates video, and so we're going
to do the Maryland stall first.
So that's the one where it's like, I'm like foot behind, trying to kick my hand.
So let's try that.
I tried it, and it wasn't so bad.
I did the first part fine, I think.
I think the first part was fine, but the second part was bad.
The landing, atrocious.
That was the stupidest.
I felt my skate go slightly S-shaped and panic, just totally panic.
Momentum just continues to go forward.
Well, my body does not.
What do I do?
I gotta make it happen faster, I guess.
Make it faster and not lean forward.
Just not continue to lean forward.
That's definitely the problem.
Is that I continue to lean forward?
I can't do that.
Let's do it again.
This seems so stupid.
I keep making the same mistake over and over.
Even in slow motion, I make the same mistake.
Okay, we're going to try this even slower.
Okay, I'm at 10% speed, and I made it.
So I've just got to turn it up 90%.
I'm going to declare that one my first good one.
But it only goes up from here.
Now I'm going to go harder.
And higher.
I thought it was wrong.
I just have the opposite of what I should be doing.
I should be leaning back.
I mean, leaning back seems really scary, too.
But I've just fallen every time reaching down.
I should lean back, even though it's scary.
Okay, so I leaned back.
And that was way more scary.
How do I find balance during this?
It's so weird.
It looks kind of easy, but...
And I should be able to do this.
I mean, I can totally just barely fall on the ramp and not fall.
This is totally an appropriate level for me to be trying.
I'm just kidding.
This is definitely something I shouldn't be trying either.
I should be more comfortable with this.
But, you know, I'm getting more comfortable as I'm trying it, right?
Okay, let's do it and try not to die.
To come down just the absolute wrong way with two feet together.
It's a bad technique right there.
It's a bad technique.
I need to figure that out.
So I'm going to keep practicing.
Did not go hard enough for that.
Early. Way too early.
This does not come naturally to me.
I was hoping it would.
It's not.
Why would standing on leg not come naturally to me?
I don't know.
I'm disappointed in myself.
But the only thing I can do is practice more.
I don't know what I'm doing.
It's so bad.
Very inconsistent.
Disappointed.
Should I switch to something else?
I want to do this well before I stop doing it today.
Let's try and do at least one good one.
But not at this angle.
I don't like this angle for some reason.
This angle.
This angle has served me well.
Can I switch feet?
Am I supposed to switch feet?
Should I be watching something on this?
I watched a video before I got out here.
Okay, I'm going to try one more time.
And then I'm going to work on turning on the ramp.
Why can't I do this?
Why is it like...
I'm not happy.
I can't do this and I don't know why.
It looks so easy.
It doesn't look hard.
I'm not flipping upside down.
It looks fun.
And light.
And when I do it,
I'm destined to face plant.
Or fall flat on my back.
And I'm not happy about it.
What do you do?
Should I practice?
Should I practice more?
Should I practice more harder?
I'll just go really hard.
I'm ending on that.
I wouldn't say it's satisfactory.
But for today, that's the best we can ask.
That was terrible.
That was just terrible.
Okay, let's work on something I like.
Cartwheels. Let's just do some cartwheels.
Gain some confidence back.
I'm satisfied with that.
That's a good skill. I have that.
Now we're going to work on
going up and turning around.
180. But not doing that stupid half step thing
that I always do.
Hi.
So we're going to go up.
Half turn. Comes right down.
Without stepping
my way around.
That was very scary.
But not as scary as the Maryland Stall.
Loss of momentum
going on there.
But I stayed upright.
So that's a huge plus.
I need to practice the other leg.
It's going to be bad.
Oh, it was bad.
That was a really good one.
Just let it go.
Just let yourself go.
Let yourself go.
Just let yourself go.
Let yourself go.
Okay.
Now let's see if there's any space
to practice the downtown.
And then call it a day.
I think I'm going to try and see
if I can find a tennis court.
Actually, I already know.
I can't find a tennis court
because there were tennis players earlier.
I don't want to cringe on there.
There's space.
Should I go up?
Okay, so that's it for today.
I wanted to practice the
Maryland stall really hard.
What the heck?
Why is that so hard?
It shouldn't be so hard.
It totally should be that hard.
Why would I think it wouldn't be?
It's on a halfpipe. Halfpipes are just,
in general, really hard.
Okay, so that's it for today.
So I practiced the stalls,
the Maryland stalls.
Kind of couldn't get it.
Sometimes that just happens.
And we'll come back and practice another day.
And just keep working on it.
I kind of did it, I guess.
A little bit.
It just wasn't very good.
It wasn't as high or as fast or as confident
as I wanted it to be.
So we just keep working on it.
And did some cartwheels.
Got that nailed down, so that's good.
And practiced the downtown just a little bit.
Looking a little sad.
Could use some work.
I like the tricks a little bit better.
Should still keep working on the dance stuff,
though, because I do like dance.
I always liked dance.
But I did gymnastics, so it goes hand in hand.
Okay, so that's it for today.
I'll see you guys tomorrow.
