EVERYTHING IN & OUT MY MINIMALIST HOME |MINIMALISM & DECLUTTERING

Morning everybody, this is an in and out with a little bit of a difference this month because obviously it was Christmas yesterday so what I thought I would do is kind of show you some of the consumable things that we in our family got each other because we don't want to create kind of lots of clutter around Christmas that we don't want. So I'm going to start the video by showing you the things we got that are consumable as consumable gifts as minimalists but then discuss the things that aren't consumable that have come in and out this month. A couple of them are gifts but some of them are even things that I took advantage of myself in the Black Friday sale because what I do actually do as a minimalist which I discussed before, I will go the majority of the year with barely buying anything but then around November, December, January i.e Black Friday, Christmas and the January sales I will buy the odd thing that has been on my list all year that I think I might possibly want because we all even as minimalists might have hobbies or interests that are things that sometimes we might want to buy or we may think will improve our quality of life. So let's do these first and then we'll discuss what I did get as the few things I buy per year as a minimalist. I'm sure you can all guess one of them is this hat but let's get to this first. So my family know that I absolutely love panettone. So panettone was one of the lovely things that I got for Christmas. Obviously it's food, it's consumable. I would describe it as a kind of fruity bread but it's so sweet that it's almost like a cake. I will have a slice of this with a cup of tea or a cup of coffee and one year when I was actually in Rome at Christmas I actually saw Italians dipping it into their tea and hot chocolate like we would with a biscuit in England but I love it, it's delicious. Now we also sometimes get each other little joke presents as a little bit of a laugh because we actually think rather than the stuff in the presents it's just the act of opening them and trying to guess what they are which is actually part of the fun of Christmas morning. So for instance my partner knows that I absolutely love pickles and on my other hoodie I actually have a little pickle badge and his nickname for me is Ickle Pickle because I love anything pickled and actually pickles depending on what they have obviously been pickled in have actually been proven to be really good for your gut you know they have the fermentation process so he actually got me some organic sweet and sour sphere pickles and the other pickled item some kimchi because I simply can't get enough of kimchi, I love it. They actually do a ginger and turmeric kimchi as well which is even better for you than the regular kimchi, tasty and nutritious. Now the next thing which I've already broken into for Christmas day because I think it's a little time of year that we all might eat something out of the ordinary that we don't normally eat and I also got some Ferrero Roches, I think I had two yesterday and that's the amount I like sometimes just to have one or two with a little cup of tea in the afternoon that's just the right amount of sweetness. Then because I absolutely love anything pistachio flavoured, scented, my mum and my partner know this, my partner got me a pistachio cake. All these sweet things are going to last me a very long time because they don't particularly have a sweet to so no doubt I will have to share this because it would probably go off before I managed to eat it all but I will get to enjoy a few slices and I do love pistachio. The next thing is some organic licorice which I absolutely love as well and licorice also has many health benefits if it's not got too much sugar in it and it is organic like this. Mini pistachio doughnuts, need I say more and more pistachio coffees and also I absolutely love marmalade. I could practically be Paddington Bear and my mum got me this different one for Christmas by Tiptree and it's actually a tangerine rather than a regular orange marmalade so I'm thinking maybe it might be a little bit sweeter rather than bitter than the average marmalade. And then we move on to the candles guys because everyone just about knows that I love candles if they are natural, soy, coconut, vegetable, whatever as long as they're natural with no paraffin and only essential oils. So my mum actually got me this lovely little collection, one is frankincense obviously a very Christmassy scent, aloe vera and sweet mint I can actually smell that from here and lavender and cedar wood and then she got me this other one and I have to say I absolutely love love love love the container that it's in and I probably will keep the container to make use of afterwards. It's like a concrete container and it just feels so nice I think this will go very nice in my bedroom and maybe even be a new little dish to put my sage stick in when you've sort of been burning it because I don't know if you all noticed on the home tour on Tuesday but a few things are missing from my home which I am going to explain in the next video next week. So this is kind of linked to that what I'm going to use this for but lovely and it smells lovely what is that dark oak oak tree smell very English I think I've put that back in the box wrong but we'll deal with that in a second and then just a little pistachio scented candles as well. Now I have got two big presents off you know your bigger presents off my mum and my partner and these are things that we get that aren't consumable because we've asked people asked each other what they really want for instance I got my mum the Japanese skincare set that I've got as well because she wanted it and she has actually got me a waterproof case for my camera so the new of a little camera that I'm about to show you in a minute so I can go in the water and things with it if I want and my partner has actually got me an apple voucher you know for the apple store so it's just a case or do I actually want an apple watch because in the new year I actually intend to track my fitness and my sleep a lot which the apple watch is perfect for but I haven't decided which thing I want to get yet I'm going to spend a bit of time thinking about that so that is everything I actually got for Christmas actually I'm just looking here and I realised I haven't shown you that I also got an orange candle and it came with orange and cinnamon and it came with this little lovely little Christmas thing around it which I'm actually going to now save as a little piece of decoration for our little Christmas tree now let's discuss what I got myself that wasn't a gift so the first one was after having the headband for quite a while I love it I'm still mainly going to wear that but sometimes I need the front of my hat this is a really silly reason perhaps but it's true I need somebody's shouting outside I need the front of my hat to be a bit thicker because on the new camera that I'm about to show you there's a little clip but my headband is too thin and when I try to clip it to it it slides off so the whole idea with my new camera is that when I'm filming from a point of view shot I can actually clip it to the front of here if I want and film but my headband was too thin it kept sliding off but because this is such thick knit it actually clips on okay so that is the whole idea behind why I got an extra hat actually to do with filming so the hat is new that's in this week I did also what else did I get oh the camera let me show you all the camera wait there so since I've been filming for my second channel I quickly discovered that although I love my Sony camera that I'm currently filming with now it's great for sit down videos it's even good for if you're going to go outside and set up the tripod and have a still static shot like this while you but when you are walking with it there are two things that are not great it basically because no camera can be perfect for everything it basically isn't quite a wide enough angle and if you're going to go around and vlog you don't get to see much of the background also the stabilisation is actually not great even though it is a much more expensive camera than this one the stabilisation is not great and it ends up making the person watching be all kind of dizzy and the background looks blurry and if I intend to travel vlog that is just not going to do for when I'm walking around showing people things I want it to be smooth and people to be able to see also not waterproof at all so for instance when I went outside and I filmed in the snow not so long ago I could only had about one minute I've been able to get footage and keep driving the camera off because I was terrified that water was going to get into the camera and it was going to break now this little guy which I did do a video about on my second channel is just about the world's smallest vlogging camera so it's a great idea for minimalists because it's miniature but also for packing it's great it's an all-round great camera and it only costs around 300 pounds which compared to that camera is just great it's only downside is that the microphone in that if it's bad weather outside isn't great but there are ways around that you could find like a little shelter to vlog in until the weather passes over that is its only pitfall but everything else is great for instance for those of you who haven't seen the other video you can film even just with that I can clip it to my hat I can wear it on a pendant it's also great for if you're a little bit of a shy vlogger like myself and you don't really want it to be that obvious that you are vlogging like when you're walking in places and the stabilization is great you can mount it to your car and even the background out of the car looks smooth so it has been really great for vlogging on the second channel and it is water resistant like this so I don't have to worry about light rain but now that I also have this waterproof case as well that I got for Christmas it's completely waterproof which is just fantastic so for me this was a necessity for my future YouTube journey because also what I've been a little bit worried about I think it's always good to have a backup camera because supposing I got all the way to Japan to do all these vlogs and this camera broke for any reason and I personally can't use my phone anymore to vlog because the YouTube studio app takes up 200 gigabytes on the 256 gigabyte phone which means there is no space for any video footage even though I hardly have any apps on the phone the one YouTube studio app is taking up nearly all the space of the phone so I actually can't film on my phone anymore and that little guy is definitely cheaper than another phone so I'm just trying to think if there is anything else that has come in new to my home this week that I have not really spoken about so my partner I actually got him some chopsticks so even though these were a present to him it is kind of a new thing that you're going to see in and around the house because really it is going to be a shared possession even though I got it for my partner because he wanted to get really good at eating with chopsticks until we start traveling to Asia he said so he doesn't like show himself up so he's been practicing even on Christmas day picking up and moving things which was quite funny and I think you might have seen a new knife and things in the kitchen all this is going to be covered in the next video that is about sort of planning what I'm doing with the house and what I'm decluttering so I can't cover that too much if there's anything that I've left out in today's video it's because I don't want to give too much away for the next video and also sometimes I just simply have forgotten what has come in new if it came in around the beginning of the month and it's nearly a month ago since I did the you know one of these videos it's a simple forgetfulness not that I've done it on purpose but you might actually be wondering where I got this tree from which I covered on my second channel I was actually out one day to get a little potted Christmas tree I found this one but then I decided that was going to be more of a table garland and I might want a natural one that's a bit bigger I was out to get that and I walked past a charity shop or a thrift store as some people say and I saw that in the window for five pounds completely made out of driftwood I thought it was just beautiful so I got it now you're probably all thinking where will you store it afterwards and I was actually that impressed with it I did contemplate just storing it you know keeping it somewhere in the apartment but my mum was actually with me when I found it and she was very upset that I saw it first so I said to her well I'll tell you what let me use it for just this year because I have no idea where I will be this time next year whether we'll be even living in this home probably not so after this year you can have it which she was very very happy about so it's kind of on lease from my mum but I bought it and then I'm going to gift it so we already know that straight away so I get to enjoy it for one year only but it is new into the home this month I think that might be everything guys obviously you've seen that I discussed in the last month's one that I got some new socks and some new jogging bottoms and I am shortly going to do an updated wardrobe tour because there have been a couple of new things for winter I think that's it and has anything left this month they have left but I can't fully discuss them because of the next video that's coming I'm trying to think if I decluttered anything that I can discuss I did declutter a few more boxes sadly I haven't got them to show you you know storage containers because I took them out before Christmas because I didn't want them to be in the way for Christmas also that has come in we got a dehumidifier in the bedroom which I showed you all in the home tour on Tuesday and we got our chair back from my mum because I am considering getting a desk which like I said before as well it's not something that I am going to take lightly but without going into too much personal and private details I have had a few health complaints lately and one of the side effects are a bad back despite having quite good posture and sitting on the ground and making sure I change positions a lot sometimes in life some things are out of our control and even though we are active and lead a healthy lifestyle and eat healthily sometimes we do just get problems and complications with our health so I'm thinking that I might actually need and I do use that word need a desk and it might only be for a six month period until we leave and until the situation that's causing my backache has been dealt with because it is treatable I would of course thrift a desk if I decide to get one just prompting you all on a few things there that might be coming in and that have come in so I hope you all had a great Christmas day I will not now see you all again
