this is Allan from the Allen Sports show
so I'm joined with former raise manager
Joe Madden and we're here in the Tampa
baseball Museum talk about the feeling
you get when you come out here to this
Museum I first of all it's well kept
secret I had no idea and I got invited
to come out here tonight really happy I
did we're standing in Al Lopez's actual
house growing up that when I was told
that that kind of blew me away that's
that's the that's the real hook for me
then you come inside and you see all the
memorability and the history here it's
pretty spectacular so I'm very fortunate
I got invited here tonight it's a
mustsee kind of a situation if you're
from this area in particular there's a
wall over there with baseballs and all
the Fells that have been signed from
this area made it to the big leagues uh
it's really a special place and you can
feel the warmth in here too yeah it is
and then you know the nice thing about
this event is that it's Unique and talk
about the fact that people don't know
about this place I'm telling you uh it's
it's tough I mean I eore I I don't come
here often enough um I you you when you
drive through the portal here and you
come on up in this area you're
definitely going back in time I'm all
about that I think that's great it'd be
wonderful if we just get more publicity
out there so people know it exists and
you come on out here and check it on out
make up your own mind but it it's really
all that cool it's uh besides just
coming out here the entire area is just
dripping with history but you want to
come out check out the museum it's it's
beautifully done uh it's a simple
structure but it can up be more
perfectly done yeah and coming out here
does that make you want to go back out
there and be on the diamond again uh I'm
telling you man stuff like this does
this is this is um why I got started you
look at right behind us is Al Lopez
field the big mural of that and that's
that's how I got started in ballparks
like that that's a spring training
facility but it's a minor league
Ballpark and I have a lot of affection
when I see those kind of places uh
that's what the game's really about
sometimes I think we've forgotten about
that it's become really corporate
a little bit industrialized but it's
really about Grassroots and that's where
it starts and what you love a baseball
diamond especially cut grass and well
manicured dirt your hook yeah and one
thing that you and Rick BAU do a lot of
is community work talk about you and
Rick BAU and what you do in the
community well for years here the my
respect 90 Foundation we've done a lot
of different things the big part was
feeding the homeless uh my thanks Miss
project we did salvation armies the
Metropol Ministry is up and down the
coast here we've done a lot of different
things the um homeless empowerment
program over in clear waterer area uh RV
is very attached to that so we've done a
lot of that and I want to get back into
it hopefully soon um it's something that
was near and dear to my heart so that
was that's the primary up in
Pennsylvania I do something a little bit
different with the Hazelton integration
project we're bringing the Hispanic and
angle culture together um a lot of good
stuff it's just a matter of uh um
getting regenerate it I want to do that
I'm here 6 months out of the Year
Pennsylvania 6 as of right now and um uh
I I need to kick it back in GE and get
more involved with that and how do
people follow you that are interested in
getting involved well I mean the respect
90 that stuff the thanks will let you
know ourv will let you know we'll start
putting stuff out on um uh probably more
than likely Twitter maybe some Instagram
stuff uh we'll let you know then you can
get it out there and in Pennsylvania
like I said it's we up in that
northeastern Pennsylvania we welcome all
comers to come visit our hlon one
Community Center it's an old proo school
that we purchased with grant money and
money that we raised now we're a
national model uh with after school
programs um adult education youth youth
sports where we have uh we have a lot of
our kidss now attending universities
back there and doing extremely well and
finally we have a mutual friend AR minda
ma talk about her work with the
museum hey the girl drives from braon
every day needs a helicopter I mean the
traffic here is about as bad as it's
ever been right uh her Works spectacular
the passion is obvious whatever there's
passion attached to the
project uh it's a place you want to
normally be around um she is special I
just met her tonight and I know that
already so she's she's a driving course
behind all this obviously and uh you're
not going to find a better Steward for
this for the Lopez Museum out Lopez
field right there and the baseball Tampa
baseball Museum it's pretty special
thank you so much Joe thank you God
bless thank you
