Had a big storm last night. Gnarly thunderstorm rolled through just after we got into our tents.
That was actually pretty scary. So we're in a bowl here. So it kind of started over on this side
and sort of worked its way mostly around but then was right on top of us for a minute and uh
yeah the lightning was very close. We had a couple that were like immediate which was really
uh quite scary. You know it's like a huge flash and then the bang is like immediate and we're
sitting in our tents like trying to yell back and forth at each other. You're good, you're good,
everything's good. Like you can barely hear anything over all the thunder and it's just
like cracking lightning all the way around and uh yeah it's pretty scary. I didn't like that.
Storms up in the mountains are scary and it was not on any of our like radar or anything so it
was a total surprise. I mean we're at 3,000 meters so we're quite high up but thankfully you know
we're down to this kind of bowl here surrounded by the ridge. That lasted for probably an hour
like heavy rain, wind, lots of lightning, tons of thunder and uh yeah it's scary. It's pretty scary.
Just above 3,000 meters. I think we get to ridge walk for the next like 10 kilometers which is
We didn't look at our maps, we just kept following the trail. It didn't go anywhere else
and then all of a sudden we're at the road and then now there's snacks.
So we're not complaining. Not at all. She's about to bring us like a bean pie and a potato pie.
I'm quite happy to do a little extra trail for a good snack.
It's all good. Is there a human with them?
This has been nothing good all the way down. Doesn't look steep but it's really steep and
slippery. It's hard to show how steep this is but it's very bloody steep. All right now I need my
hands to do this. Yeah this is a ridiculous descent. There's no trail it's just sort of like
go down the chute but you know it's all right.
Feet are bigger than sheep's feet.
They're selling these giant pieces of cake at that little stand which is pretty nice.
Man there are no easy days out in these mountains.
That was wild. Yeah up down up down no trails. Route finding, bushwhacking, around and around and around.
Shale, sidling, scree slopes. Yeah you get a little bit of everything out here.
It keeps you on your toes for sure but it's really pretty.
Nice look at that trail all the way up there.
Going down? Yeah we're getting close. It feels close. It's still far but it feels close.
What a freaking day honestly. I don't even know. Have you explained to them what happened to my beers?
No I didn't want to tell them you fell over. I'm allowed to fall over. I was getting chased by a dog.
It wasn't my story to tell. I picked up two beers from the pass at lunch time. I was carrying them
to camp and unfortunately when we were going through the shepherd's camp the dog came after
us and I slipped and fell backwards and both beers were in the back of my backpack and just hit a
rock and started spraying. So they're like half empty but it's been half full yeah.
Still tastes like beer so there you go. Yeah a little flat. You're dripping. Yeah I know it's unavoidable.
Leave stuff and make a mess and whatever.
Don't make fun of me. I'm not making fun of you.
