we've arrived at pathless it's a tender port where the castle is right near where the tender stops [Music] you can really imagine the layout how it was these pillars they've uncovered just really give the atmosphere the greek atmosphere if you're a beach lover and fancy a day just lazing on the beach you've got two choices when you come off the tender you can either turn left and go to the beach down by the archaeological site or you can turn right and it's quite a long walk but there are nice beaches at the other end of the bay so the drawbridge we have [Music] we just got our tickets 250 each about half price for pensioners there are some advantages to being old let's have a look at the cells he doesn't look very well in there the original castle was destroyed in the earthquake and it was rebuilt in the 13th century in the port from one side of the castle we can see the archaeological site and from the other side of the roof of the castle you'll see the far end of the bay where you'll find the best beaches [Music] the stairs are very steep so you'll need to be mobile pathos castle is very well preserved but we found the one at limassol more interesting the view is worth it though unlike in copenhagen where you walk miles to find the statue of the little mermaid this cute statue of a girl coming out of the sea is just behind the castle this is the remains of an ancient basilica built in the 5th century a.d and destroyed 653 a.d by the arabs we're going to explore neopath's archaeological site which is a world heritage site let's go and have a look great toilets on your left i've checked them out they're very clean and more importantly you can scan the wi-fi guide on your phone free audio all the way around the archaeological site is extensive but clearly signposted as they uncovered the houses they named them for the mosaics they found on the floor behind me is the house of aeon let's go and have a look so this is the reception hall of the house of aeon some amazing mosaics on the floor minotaur [Music] the lighthouse marks the far side of the site this is the house of theseus and that mosaic is theseus killing the minotaur so theseus is in the labyrinth he's got a club in his right hand and he's got the minotaur's horn in his left hand and the minotaur has fallen to his knees it's a great mosaic you can really imagine the layout how it was these pillars they've uncovered just really give the atmosphere the greek atmosphere i just tripped over [Music] these ladies were the daughters of zeus and famous and the sisters of the three faiths they were also considered to be the assistance of aphrodite the house of orpheus is presently being excavated it might be very different by the time you get here this is the house of dionysos and the amazing mosaic floors are in the building next door and it's cool in there admiring its reflection in the water [Music] there are some amazing examples in here it's very very cheap to come in it does what it says on the tin the mosaics are in beautiful condition everything is so well laid out it delivers the puff force lighthouse was constructed at the beginning of british rule in 1888 it stands 11.5 metres high so [Music] just by the lighthouse is the amphitheatre i booked these seats ages ago [Music] just down from the theatre or the odeon is the agora which would have been the central square of the city this is definitely a 10 out of 10 tourist attraction amazing [Music] sometimes you get an actual pelican walking by it's a great restaurant [Music] just by the pelican bar there is lots of entertainment available you can go on a turtle watching cruise you can go on the jolly roger you can go deep sea fishing or you can go on a glass bottom boat whatever takes your fancy [Music] if you want to do a circular tour of papos the hop-on hop-off bus stops at the car park just opposite the harbour don't forget please subscribe to our cruise youtube channel [Music] now it's time to get back to my great cruise book you
