ASH brought on some firey tear ducts... Thanks for Skiing boys.
Hey, where do we even begin, man?
I mean, going back all the way to Magma 1,
we saw Hunter toss the triple flare.
Magma 2, Alex went for the switched-up Cork 14 over the fence
into that bombed-out landing pad.
Hunter threw the switch-trip rodeo on the same feature.
Magma 3, Alex was back swapping 40-odd thousand-yard rails.
There was kinked-up rebar all over the place.
Hunter went for the gnarliest trip 14 I've seen in decades.
And those are simply just a few highlights
from at least my favorite ski trilogy of all time.
Of course, none of this would be coming together
without Owen Dahlberg, the wizard behind the lens,
the S-tier playlist curator.
Magma's a lot of things.
It's a lot of ski stunts, a lot of beautiful builds,
but it's the A-class soundtracks
that make the tear ducts swell, dude.
It's incredible.
It's magic.
But we're not here today to talk about Magma.
We're here to talk about their newest chapter, Ash.
Alex, Hunter, and Owen have partnered up again
with a special feature from Elias Syria
to put together their newest film.
This one, this one's going to be a good one.
Maybach music.
I like this Maybach music.
I can't sit here and lie to you,
this is not my first viewing.
I think the first time, no, I know for a fact,
the first time I saw this was when I was climbing up
Knox Mountain here in Kelowna.
I got the link.
I watched it and I cried.
I cried like a lonely man on top of a mountain
and it was an incredible experience,
an absolutely incredible experience.
I think the majority, if not the entire film,
is shot in Europe here over the span
of just a couple of weeks for most of the clips,
which is absolutely astounding.
We saw the right 12 right there from Alex.
The bombed out landing, dude.
So he's doing two flips, three and a half spins.
A lot of you guys know this, but look at the landing.
Power, dude.
The intensity is insane.
Yeah, dude.
Hunter winding up left side, court nine,
a little bit of a shifty with it.
You got Rick Ross ringing through your tympanum as well
while he's wrapping that thing around.
Again, all the work for the most part of Owen Dahlberg
picking the soundtrack here.
Big fiver from Alex.
I think Alex was saying like Owen took a good couple of months
to finalize the soundtrack for this piece.
Like regardless of piecing up the footage together,
just picking the soundtrack alone
is a couple months process.
So sick, dude.
Stopping the momentum, pivoting his edges there.
Also pulls it 180 out.
Big double whammy from Hess.
The boys.
Yeah.
Oh, switched up nine from Hess.
Take a minute away from the ski stunts.
Look at the boom.
Look at the build, man.
That's not easy to shape snow in a way that just,
that curves your bones, man.
That's incredible.
Switched up nine from Hess.
I think this is out in the Lauterbrunnen Valley
right by where the nines was held in Schilthorn last year.
The next shot is going to be one of the most picturesque things
you've seen in skiing.
Left double 10 from Alex Hall.
Mount Iger in the background.
Man, are your docks swollen yet?
Yes, sir.
I don't know if there's a lot of moms in the chat right now,
but I think this is the closest I'm ever going to get
to feeling the emotion of motherhood.
Again, it's magical.
Just take a moment.
Misty five off the road gap.
Oh, studio's getting whipped.
A little nose press three.
Hunter with the dob 10.
Big dob jump, sick.
Whatever you're going through, dude.
Whatever's just hitting your bones in the wrong way.
When you want to shout west,
but you're just hitting east with your vocal cords day and night.
Fall back to this.
Core three, bleezy.
The Lauterbrunnen Valley goes so crazy, man.
If you ever get a chance.
Hey, it's not cheap, dude.
The conversion on most people's currency sucks out in Switzerland.
The Swiss francs rips your bank account hard,
but take a trip out to the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
It's majestic.
Oh, yo, big old ham plant four.
So tucked up as well.
The Montclair drift goes crazy as well.
Here it comes, dude.
Paying tribute to Megma two.
Hunter Hess with the Swiss triple rodeo 1260.
Nice throw.
Again, dude, the landing.
The landing is so bomb.
Hold up.
Half of his ski is completely underground,
while the other one is completely tilted 90.
No idea how he rode away from that one.
And apparently it was a battle as well.
What made you want to go triple on such a bombed landing?
We were like, you got to do a triple.
We pretty much just forced him to do a triple.
And that was like the best jump.
The most traditional jump we hit for Ash was that one.
So we kind of knew it was going to be that one.
Yeah, if there was any one.
And it's not really like you get a ton of opportunities on big jumps.
So it's kind of like if you get it, you got to kind of take it for what it's worth.
Brutal.
It's not like they're getting lifted back up to the top of the drop in, man.
They're working for it.
They're earning their turns, man.
No idea how that works.
A lot of people are throwing these pullback rotations.
But Alex is one of the very few individuals,
one of the very few athletes out there to make it look absolutely effortless.
It's kind of like SwitchCork3 bring back to Switch2Sev.
Yo, huge zero.
And oddly enough, dude, he was saying that was the biggest battle
of the entire project for him right there.
And when you really break it down and you look at it,
you appreciate the subtleties of it all.
Because again, it's so easy to get complacent to what these boys are throwing.
Look at the compression on it, man.
Like the ACL has to be fully curved and upright, ready to smoke what's coming in.
Nuts.
Huge one.
Again, scale is not going to be captured on camera how big that gap was.
Dubbed Japan on the right side seven.
Working the tapes, dude.
Threes in.
Hunter is so...
You got to appreciate Hunter, dude.
Hunter Hess, he's spending basically 80%, 90% of his time skiing
throughout the entire season in a pipe.
So to see him come out whip around resort like this,
off in the boonies and just throw whatever he wishes with the utmost execution is astounding.
Same bombed out landing, big kicker, switch double court 1260.
Yeah, there's the right sev.
Lord, dude, Ross coming out.
You can kind of gauge the scale on that one, bro.
It's crazy.
Oh, the sorry sack of soul that had the guinea that as well.
Like these are prime and prime terrain park features, believe it or not.
These are features built by the boys who had the honor of guinea pigging the gap jump.
For the record, I suck at gauging my speed on jumps.
I ride a half pipe all year long, so I'm terrible at it.
And Alex, unfortunately, gets the repercussion of that most of the time
and has to guinea mostly every single feature we hit.
So there's like a big topic for us.
And so we come to easily like the scariest spot to guinea and I lose ones and twos.
And so I'm like, all right, well, I'm going first.
And I drop in and I thought I was going too slow.
So I just pulled out.
So I wasn't going to wait for Hunter to like hike all the way back to the end run.
So I just ended up guinea pigging it.
And I felt so bad going off the lip.
I thought for sure I was not going to make it, but you were going so fast.
And like right after the lip, it dropped off right into the canyon.
So like it was too late for me to speed check.
Like once you're in the last 30 feet of the end run, like going off the lip,
you you had to go because if you speed check and fell off, it would be worse.
So I just had to go and I barely made it.
I almost knuckled it, but it was good.
Elias coming up.
If you're not familiar with him, man, he is by far one of the
the most talented athletes in the space.
We didn't see him for a few years because I think he blew out both of his knees
at a big air comp around 2019, 2020.
But that is by far one of the nuttiest stunts in the entire.
You know, those chambers where people are like constantly blasted
with the EDM 24 seven and watch the same like
PowerPoint or whatever, it's considered a form of torture.
I swear to God, dude, you could put me in any room on the planet.
And if I'm just watching this day and night for the rest of my life,
I'd still be a happy camper.
He's so good.
He is so good.
Switch card forward to the wall.
The axis he has to swap on to get like parallel with the
angle of that wall ride is astounding, especially when you're spinning a 450 up.
Pops the 180 out as well.
That's skiing right there at its finest, buddy.
Like he's so good.
It's just the boys, man.
It's always been the boys.
It's a beautiful thing.
That's so nuts, man.
Crazy axis on the ten three full rotations on one of the
nuttiest gaps built during the entire piece.
Do yourself the biggest favor.
Go watch this piece without my hoot and hollers interrupting the entire film.
I'm also link make my one, two and three in the description below.
If you guys want to feast your eyes on that again,
it'll be the best thing your optic nerve has fired up on in decades.
There's been some huge moments in the series,
but when it comes to your favorite moment from the entire
Magma series, maybe one, two, three, including Ash as well.
What is it?
Favorite moment from everything?
Maybe the first, just the first triple, honestly.
I feel like that is just, it was so sick being there for that one.
We were just messing around, you know, it was like we had no expectations,
no pressure on the video.
It was just like fun to be there.
I mean, it's obviously still so fun, but like that just felt like pure and like raw.
I had no business doing that.
The other ones were like kind of calculated.
Like I kind of knew, but that one was just like full balls to the wall.
Like I was in some crazy head space where I was like, I would die for this.
Like it was a Hail Mary and it worked.
Thank God.
Or the sunset, the sunset shoot was really fun.
I think the Magma three sunset for me, honestly.
I don't know if we've ever worked physically.
Like that was like, that was psychotic.
All the shots on that jump in Magma three were the same, in the same, like four hours.
It was crazy.
We were hiking our brains out there.
Like Alex is an animal in anything cardio.
It's, it's like nuts.
Like he can hike.
That being said, when can we expect the Magma fitness tape?
The thing is I don't go to the gym though.
Hey, I was just natural, dude.
It's terrible.
You should run that.
Hunter works out of Barnes.
So that'd be perfect.
That would be perfect.
I would love that.
Magma workout program.
