Orestes Destrade made a memorable appearance at the Stairway For Heroes , One Brick at a Time Event held at the Tampa Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House! As the Special Guest for Stairway For Heroes Founder Melvin A. Azofeifa G., Orestes participated in an interview with the Alan Alford Sports Talk Show, interacted with all the fans, and after the event ended, I even had the chance to chat with him off camera for about an hour about baseball!

Guess what? Orestes Destrade is coming back to the Tampa Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House! Arminda Mata and her team really went above and beyond! Exactly one week from today! On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 6pm-8pm, the Tampa Baseball Museum is holding a birthday celebration! In an effort to celebrate, and remind the community the historical significance of his home, our museum, and the legend he became.

The evening will include a baseball discussion panel with Orestes Destrade and the Honorable Robin Fuson discussing baseball locally, nationally, and internationally! There will be refreshments, raffles, and a special dedication to the museum.

The event is complimentary; however, donations are always appreciated, and can be made during the registration, online, or at Tampa Baseball Museum, YBOR City State Museum!
