Neymar 2016-17 Ballon D'Or Level Skills, Goals, Dribbling & Assists
4 Video Views·Oct 5, 2025
His last season at Barcelona. Neymar, at that point in his career, was already ready enough to start a series of Ballon d'Or wins. With Messi getting older, it's obvious that if Neymar had stayed at Barcelona, he would have inherited the throne of the Argentinian genius, and would have inevitably won countless titles and, of course, the much-desired Ballon d'Or. It's a pity from a sporting point of view that he went to PSG and above all that he was the victim of so many brutal and severe injuries. Neymar, as I always write in my sentences, in terms of pure talent, intelligence and technique, is one of the greatest geniuses in football history!
Neymar, Messi, this time...
Barcelona take the lead, Lionel Messi.
Dispossessed by Iniesta.
Neymar, good penetrative run from him.
And Andre Gomes is in here.
Messi's on the centre of the dance floor.
Neymar's in there.
Oh, it's Saturday night and they're all dancing at the Cap Nou.
Into the middle of the park, they're hunting the ball down really, really well.
Neymar, he's gone for about four players there, what a run this is by Neymar.
I don't know, he seemed to go down...
He has options, not just any options.
One is Neymar, sprinting in at the far post is Messi!
Messi, Neymar.
Neymar again.
They want to walk the ball in the net, and they've done just that.
It's a second for Lionel Messi.
Rafinha to Messi.
Neymar, Messi, Messi again!
Messi to Bale Barcelona out here.
Luis Suarez, but they've still got Neymar, what a touch that was.
Ravicic wins the ball fairly.
Neymar somehow doubts his way from defenders.
Is that the Pied Piper?
Oh, who does he think he is, Lionel Messi?
This is great skill from Neymar, he's trying to give Christ the party, isn't he?
Neymar!
Fantastic!
Left of Jordi Alba.
Neymar, oh yes!
What a goal.
Oh yes!
Neymar to take it.
Oh, how about that?
That was like a tracer bullet.
Goalkeeper doesn't snip it.
What a free kick.
A few weeks ago, in that game in midweek, here they go again.
Brilliant finish, Luis Suarez.
He gained something this week.
Here's Neymar.
Express yourself, Neymar.
See the skill and the acceleration again of Neymar.
Collapse when Monchi arrived at the club.
You could argue he was the club's best ever signing.
Here's Neymar.
Mark takes it brilliantly.
Bypasses Raul Neves.
Finds Messi!
To the rescue, and they've needed Messi.
Crawl on Real Sociedad.
Backing into the defender, what a wonderful turn that was from Neymar.
Neymar.
Spinning the better there of Puenca.
Terrific play from Neymar.
Absolutely brilliant.
And look how strong he can be when he wants to stay on his feet.
And still Neymar.
Hard running, which he's happy to do.
And here comes Neymar into the penalty area.
Wonderfully finished.
Superb start from Barcelona.
Neymar.
Neymar. Excellent pass.
And Luis Suarez! 2-0.
Well then, walking through this 14-year-old on defence.
This man is going to come on.
Neymar.
Skips past three or four challengers.
This is Neymar.
Oh, brilliant by Neymar. Circus football from Barcelona.
Will it bring a goal? Suarez is there.
Brilliant skill from Neymar.
And Nahuel.
Nahuel made a run at the gas.
Good skills. Wonderful turn from Neymar.
Full of the tricks.
Neymar comes a long way back.
Neymar.
Rides the challenges brilliantly.
Neymar.
Luis Suarez!
Now it's Neymar.
Neymar running with intent.
Neymar squeezes it for Alcacer.
And there it is!
Alcacer has made his move.
He lets it go to Neymar.
Now Neymar gets his goal.
It's complete for Barcelona.
Excellent run in the channel.
Gets away from the defender.
Skillful backheel from Nasri.
Should have done better.
Nasri shakes off Mariano on a couple of occasions.
Great run from him.
Messi steps over it.
Rakitic picks it.
Gets away from Ander Kappa.
Neymar.
Instant control from the Brazilian.
Neymar.
Lovely stuff.
Messi.
And Suarez hovering.
It's impossible to steal the ball from him without doing anything.
But at least now they've forced a draw.
It looked like the ball had come out.
Parroquia gets angry.
Demestalla.
Neymar.
International.
I think he was feigning that one.
This is Neymar.
Burst of acceleration.
Brilliant from Neymar.
Neymar Jr.
The pass is a scandal.
The shot!
He finally takes it off.
Strangely laid-back performance from Barcelona.
This is Neymar.
Brilliantly.
Then it falls into the trap.
For Brazil.
Neymar.
Messi arriving.
As is Jordi Alba.
First of all, before the contact was made, magic.
Neymar under the challenge of Alvarez.
Keeping it tight early on can be key to any sort of success against Barcelona.
Neymar.
Lovely ball through.
Suarez.
It's Neymar.
Messi's available.
Here goes Messi!
Welcome to the game.
Welcome back, Lionel Messi.
But he seems to pick the right one every time.
Here they come again.
And Neymar slots it through.
Like a ripe peach sporting.
Falling apart at the end.
Still with Neymar.
And still with Neymar.
Fantastic skill from the Brazilian.
Neymar's ball across and it's in.
It's just brilliant from the Brazilian.
Neymar.
Dances with the defender.
Beats him.
Oh, that would have been a brilliant goal.
World Cup biting incident.
Neymar.
Trying to find the gap.
He finds the gap for Suarez.
Suarez and he's stabbed.
Suarez leads them a man short at the back.
Neymar in two minds.
Another slip here.
This could be a controversial goal.
If Messi finishes it off.
Neymar.
He was the one that made it all happen late.
In that Paris Saint-Germain drama.
And here he is again.
It's a terrific run.
As Neymar brings the ball into the Athletic Club box.
Neymar!
It's just wide.
It was a stunning run by the Brazilian.
He's like that iguana that escaped the other week.
Planet Earth.
Neymar.
Here he goes again.
Sloppy play in midfield from Granada.
Neymar for Luis Suarez.
Keep going.
Vieto loses out.
Neymar.
Taken on now by Neymar.
Messi lurking in space on the right.
And here comes Neymar.
It was kept in play by Martin Montoya.
Neymar skips away.
Keeps it tight.
Pass to Neymar.
And the trio have inspired Barcelona.
Nice ball played forward.
Are they going to get in behind here?
They're trying to wriggle clear.
Neymar.
Now Messi.
It's an impossible angle for him.
Or it should have been.
But Barca take the lead.
Neymar.
Gets away from Kepa.
Oh, that's brilliant.
And a lovely pass.
Neymar gives Martinez the slip.
World-winning technology should be filling plenty of the Spanish media in the coming days.
Here's Neymar.
And Neymar accelerates away from Nicolas Otamendi.
Poor defending from Barcelona.
Neymar.
Beautifully done.
Luis Suarez.
What a predator.
Made himself that little bit of room.
Neymar.
Suarez drops in from the attacking line.
Here's Neymar.
Drifts past a couple of players.
Excellent pass into Messi.
And a chance here for Suarez.
Luis Suarez.
France in midweek.
This is Neymar.
Drifting inside.
Dani Suarez.
To Neymar.
It's 4-on-3 in Barca's favour.
Neymar comes inside.
Messi!
Just when they needed it.
Trey Comer and Suarez are up there with him.
Messi's got there too.
Here's Messi.
Oh, he started it.
And then he finished it.
Delivery thumping-headed though by Pique to clear.
And Neymar.
Little slip line.
Wonderful free kick for wanting two assists.
Here is Neymar.
And Rafinha!
Another good stop.
Neymar.
Brilliantly.
Leaves De Santis on the floor.
Neymar.
They can't catch him either.
That rugby challenge by Unai Pustina doesn't work.
Lines past another.
Tries to go for another one but it's...
...that they could catch them on the counter.
Neymar has given the freedom.
He hurdles several players.
What a ball from Messi to Neymar.
Absolutely inch-perfect.
Neymar tries to skip pass.
Daniela had lost on it now with a four.
Alcázar.
And there it is.
Neymar.
It's four against three in favour of Barcelona.
From wing to wing.
Line take.
Rakitic.
And Rakitic towards Suárez.
It's over his head.
And it's headed in by Neymar.
There's an appeal for an offside.
Neymar.
Fires it to the far post.
A rudimentary goal but a massive goal for Barcelona.
Suárez.
This could be the killer goal for Barcelona.
Suárez to Neymar.
It's the full compliment by Barcelona.
And Luis Suárez is away.
Keeper defeats.
Support from Neymar.
Goal for Barcelona.
Sergio Roberto.
Samuel Umtiti.
Jordi Alba.
Here's Neymar.
Neymar.
Step over from Neymar.
A young Frenchman.
Oh.
Beyond magic.
...playing time at the start of the season.
To the easily spottable Neymar.
His first game since returning.
He's taking on all kinds of...
Too many gaps.
Neymar trying to find one.
Caught in the yellow card.
Barca closing in on them.
In the shape of Neymar.
And there's Messi!
Great run from Suárez.
Between three defenders.
From Sergio Escudero.
Lovely ball from Messi into the pocket.
Neymar.
He's looking for Messi again.
Neymar.
Still Neymar.
Neymar.
Here's Jordi Alba.
He takes off.
Neymar.
Let's see the Brazilian star.
There's Neymar Junior.
Can he shoot?
Neymar.
Neymar!
Out!
Now Neymar rides Victor Rodriguez's challenge.
Cuts inside.
He's absolutely loving this, isn't he?
Neymar.
Doing that in this game has been impressive.
Good for Roberto.
Touched!
And they're denied again.
Paco Alcacer.
But the rebound falls for Neymar.
Neymar plays cat and mouse.
And he bites back for Barcelona.
Now we have a mighty game on our hands.
