For most things that you're going to do on the jam plug, it's not just the jam plug,
it's also the front two wheels that are sliding. So that's helping you move farther. It's basically
a tripod that you're making with the plug and the two front wheels, and you're finding the
right balance of how much to push on each. I have another tutorial called the boomerang,
which can help you start to understand how to push the weight backwards.
These backslides are a similar movement. You can start with the leg out to give you a little bit
of momentum. I'm barely putting much weight on this front leg. I could lift it. This leg's
going to go behind you, leg out, get a little bounce, push. As you start to feel more comfortable,
start to try lifting up that front leg. Depending on how much you slide is depending on how
much you press into the plug versus the wheels. So if I want to stop quickly, I'm going to press
harder into the front, into the plug. But if I want to go further, I'll lean a little bit more
into the wheels. It's also about how much momentum you put into it. So I'm getting more prepped to
move farther. So then you can start to add more style, moving it higher, keeping them together.
You can even start to bring one back. Using the other foot as a kickstand while you're still
trying to feel safe with something, especially these going backwards, because you could easily
slide too much and fall forward. So just keeping it right here and eventually getting it higher.
Again, it's just finding the balance of how far you want to move by pressing more into
the wheel part or pressing into the plug. This one I'm also using a lot of bounce,
bounce and everything. So I'm bending and then I'm starting to drag into that toe.
Here are two little drills for both of those jam plug slides. Right, left, slide. Right, slide.
Right, left, slide. Right, left. Here's one for the slide crossing in front. Turning my hips out,
in, out, in, out, slide, down. Again, out, in, out, in, out, slide, down.
Eventually you can also add a kick up to the back.
Definitely keep checking your jam plugs because they can get worn down
too far and then start to affect your plate. Let me know if you have any questions.
