ABBA News – New Musical "Nordic Mythology" From Björn!

We got some exciting news. A new musical is coming from the minds of Abbas Björn Ulvaeus,
but this time without Benny. Let's dive into everything we know so far.
Hey hey! So, last Friday Björn was at the book fair in Gothenburg, the largest book fair in
This musical will be about Nordic Mythology. Doesn't that sound intriguing? Like with all
the musicals so far, we had Chess, but then we had Christina from Duvimola and Mamma Mia the Musical,
both dealing with themes about faith, a mythological aspect in and of itself,
and Mamma Mia even having some bits and pieces of Greek Mythology. But Nordic Mythology
let us think about it, reminded me of Abba's Voyage show and those two animated interludes
for the songs Voulez-Vous and Eagle, which go very much in two mythological directions.
So this is a very intriguing topic. Björn is quoted as saying,
we have come a long way, we are in full swing. So they did reach an advanced stage in the
pre-production process of this new musical, but this time the musical will not be written together
with Benny Andersson. Instead it is co-written with a British writer. Names that are speculated
are Neil Gaiman, Jane Falun and J.K. Rowling, the Harry Potter author. But it could very likely be
someone else entirely. We also know from previous interviews that Björn is using the help of AI
to write the musical. This will be the second time now in a few years that Björn is not really
working with Benny. His latest project, Pippi at the Circus, was also mainly Björn's project.
For that soundtrack album Björn mostly used traditional copyright free music and wrote new
lyrics. Some of the songs were co-written with Benny Andersson and co-written and performed by
contemporary Swedish artists. It all seems that the new Nordic Mythology musical will be written
for the international market in English language, having it co-written with a British author.
So it'll be interesting, intriguing and I would like to know what do you think of it?
What would you expect? Who is the co-author? And what will the music be like? I'm looking forward
to all your contributions and discussions. All right, until then. Hej då!
