I got to throw out, recently I got to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Chattanooga
Lookouts AA Minor League.
Yeah, did y'all see it on ESPN?
It was a big deal.
You were there?
You were there at the game?
Well now I do, yeah.
Y'all were at the game.
This is so great.
You're going to be able to verify a lot of this information.
And I'm curious how much you remember about that day, okay?
Yeah, yeah, I cannot, I mean, there were 14 people at the game and 6 of them are at the
show tonight.
That is unbelievable.
I love you.
Yeah, alright.
I love y'all too.
That's a lot of fun.
I was super excited to do, I mean, it's a big deal to throw out the first, there's only
75 home games a year.
So I don't want to change the power dynamic in here, but you may not have heard of me,
but in Chattanooga, Tennessee, I am one of the top 75 people who emailed and asked to
do it.
So it is an honor.
It is an honor and a privilege.
I was on my way there, way more excited about this than I should be.
This is as close as I'll ever get to being a professional athlete, okay?
I'm throwing out the first pitch, I'm going to stand on a real mound at a professional
baseball game, you know?
So I'm on my way there, I get a phone call from the front office of the Chattanooga Lookouts
and they said, hey, just letting you know, we've got another gentleman also throwing
out the first pitch.
You'll both go out there and you'll both do it.
I said, can you tell the other guy to die?
It's kind of my day, you know?
Who is this dude?
He gets to swoop in and steal my thunder.
If Beyonce was singing the national anthem, would you let him do a duet?
Because that's what we're talking about here.
That's not what I said.
I said, the more the merrier.
I'll see you all on the mound, right?
So I get out there, I meet the other guy.
The other guy throwing out the first pitch is not a stand-up comedian.
And I'm curious whether you guys remember what he is.
Yeah, you can go ahead and say it.
He was a war hero.
He was 92 years old.
You know why?
It's Memorial Day weekend at the ballpark.
So naturally, their two first pitchers are a decorated combat veteran and me.
Do you know what a loser I look like standing out there?
Shorts and a jersey.
They read our bios back-to-back over the loudspeaker.
He got a purple heart in Vietnam.
I'm literally a clown.
The crowd does not care about me.
Except for those people.
They were going nuts.
The rest of the stadium did not care at all.
I'm first.
So I get up there.
I'm not going to dance around it.
You guys can verify this.
I threw a strike.
That's what I'm talking about, dude.
I like this.
Y'all are fun to have here.
I put a little heat on it.
Not a lot, but enough to send a message.
65?
Oh, come on, dude.
You giving me five?
I was going to say at least 80, dude.
I didn't warm up before.
65 is generous because I'm an off-speed guy.
And I respect the military.
I really do.
I have family in the military.
Whatever.
I'm competitive.
As soon as I saw that I threw a strike, I just couldn't help it.
I said, what you got, old man?
Let's see it, Gramps.
And he didn't have much, but he got a standing ovation because he is a war hero.
And I said, keep trucking, Aaron.
And then I left in the first inning.
But you guys were there wearing the Aaron land T-shirts.
That's so cool.
This is so awesome.
Thank y'all for being here.
Did y'all travel all the way from Chattanooga?
You know a lot about me.
I won't say your address out loud, but yeah, yeah, we're here.
That's awesome, man.
Y'all are the best.
I just thought there's zero chance I would ever meet anybody who was at that game, ever.
We took a picture together, dude.
All right.
Dude, that's awesome.
That's a lot of fun.
I almost wish I'd have ended on that story because I got a lot more time left, but I
think the show peaked.
If you feel, if I'm telling a story and you feel it's not going well, say you were there
and I'll rope you in and you'll back.
All right, all right.
I've never had a verbal affirmation from the crowd.
Yep, yes, you did.
All right.
That's what I'm talking about.
That feels good, dude.
I might start going to black church if that's, if that's how that goes.
If that's how that feels, I will start going.
You said it brother.
Okay.
Yep.
So I'm married.
