Antigua - Fort James Beach, Horse riding in the sea, helicopter pad

we're in anigga and we're going to walk to the nearest beach well at least we think it's the nearest beach and apparently well we find out there's horse riding and it's where the helicopter goes from so Antiga turn left when you get off the ship immediately left then up the road immediately left where you see this car going they then bear around to the right see and then take the first left again that's where we're going down to the bottom of that road we'll turn right look look for a roundabout which is over in the distance top left hand side of your picture we'll head in that direction past the police station we're going to find something special which I know you're going to like and then we're going to turn left and head towards the beach which is right at the end of this piece of land some of the beaches that you get taken to on the excursions will go past this beach but we're stand up by that ship over there the near a beach we missed but we'll go over to there've been told there's a beach we can walk to as soon as you get off the ship turn left don't go through the shops half an hour 4 5 minutes walk that [Music] way from alley good so far not even gone up as far of the shops we return so don't worry just keep going and go through this Barb fire here and out the other [Music] side down here so all of this land next to the dock has been bought by a Chinese company and it's going to be developed while we've been walking down here through the villages towards the beach we we keep seeing the name China the word China on sectioned off pieces of land China developments and China construction lorries so I'm just wondering whether China are buying up parts of the Caribbean the same as they've done in the Indian Ocean with islands like Sri Lanka I can see the ship on my left and I'm carrying on I've been told to look for a roundabout which is down there on the right so I'm going to carry on to that roundabout and straight over so you can see the ship behind me this is the roundabout you've got to find and then you go straight on look for the orange building which is the police station you pass that and you're about 20 minutes from the beach look what we were lucky enough to stumble across Ross which just goes to show it's not always a bad idea to walk [Music] somewhere probably the oldest acting Steel in the world really yes we are the world congratulations fantastic and 80 years next year oh but you're not 80 years old I'm years old thank you you're welcome now the beach we were trying to find which the one the crew uses occasionally is about 15 20 minutes away and I I think it's this road just past the police station we didn't go down it because everybody was telling us there's a better Beach further on just another 15 minutes I just passed the police station I'm going to pass a beautiful school here on the right and according to the policeman there's another 15 minutes to go keep going [Music] keep going very nice man in this Auto Yard told me to keep going and turn left at the B the ship will be behind me if you can still see it you keep walking right to the end of this road past schools past the police station turn left when you can't go any further go down to the end of this road [Applause] that would be the way to Mystic Beach so we pass the sign from mytic beat be that way but we're going to keep going down here to Fort James Beach it's been an adventure this is Fort Jes it's sunny we've practically got this to ourselves we walked here another family came in a taxi but apparently the taxis don't like to come down here cuz the roads are so badly made but once you get here it's brilliant it's like a bit of paradise all to yourself so as you can you can see the the holiday site behind us is is derel really it's empty and there's there's nothing there it's left to to ruin but if you remember we showed you one of those about five six years ago in St Vincent on the wonderful Beach there the best beach in St Vincent and that's now a sandals yeah so I'm wondering who's going to be ending up buying this absolutely watch this space yeah and turn it into another wonderful Resort uh but the beach will remain public I would imagine yeah you can hire a chair there there is a man in the bar who will um rent the chairs to you for $10 where's the bar behind you ah I suppose it is pantomim season so this is the beach to come to for the horse riding by chance this beautiful beach happened to be the one they do the horse riding in so we stumbled across an actual Excursion Beach and this is the trip you would do if you take the horse riding Excursion this beach is also where the helicopters take off from if you're on one of the helicopter rides High so cruising is all about choosing the right ship here in Antiga there's a couple of upm Market ships little morish tensive there's an Oceana ship and a Seaborn ship and there's the Fun Ship the family ship the Pio ship britania I'm got to tell you just looking at what's happened here in the bay there are two catarang tours that have just come back so one the first one my guess is they were the guest from the other two ships they all seem quite quiet and subdued as the ship pulls in then there was the piano catam pulled in and they're all singing Sweet Caroline they're smiling all over their faces and you can see they had a good time so cruising is all about choosing the right ship for you cruising's about choosing coconut shrimp our favorite what a lovely way to end a lovely day remember the hellc still B that we saw rehearsing
