Alduhail welcome defending champions Al Ahly Saudi to the Abdullah bin Khalifa stadium on
match day two in the AFC Champions League elites. Al Ahly unbeaten in their last 19
AFC Champions League games and off to a promising start. Ibanez denied by Artur Dema. Recent arrival
in between the sticks for Alduhail. Really good save to tip it over the crossbar.
Cameras then playing catch up in the 25th minute. Also the minute that gives us our opening goal.
Alduhail with a breakaway from a goal kick situation headed on by Pjontek into the path
of Bulbin. His shot comes crashing off the post right into the path of Edmilson jr.
He scores his first goal of the season in all competitions. The defending champions looking
for an equalizer just before the break. 41 and a half minutes played. All to Majrashi into the path
of Mateusz Goncalves who strikes it well after cutting inside onto his left foot. Pretty good
fortune with the bounce and Burke the substitute goalkeeper unable to keep it out. All square just
before the break here. Burke center of attention just before that halftime whistle. Misplaced pass
and the one player you do not want to give it to in the AFC Champions League is Riyad Mahrez. Player
of the competition that last season gets his name on the score sheet again albeit a little bit of
help from Burke to make it 2-1 in favor of Al Ahly. Riyad Mahrez so with his second goal of the
competition already this season as well. Al Ahly in the driving seat heading into a second period of
play. Valduel coming out looking very dangerous indeed. Shot blocked on the line there. Pasa Malraoui
thought he'd leveled things up. Valduel not taking their foot off the pedal just a few minutes later.
Lovely ball in and what a header that is by Krzysztof Pjontek. The 30 year old Polish striker
is sixth in all competitions this season. First in the Champions League of the new campaign.
Beautifully into the top corner. Now Valduel looking like the team might take the lead next.
Chance here for Edmilson jr. The 58th minute again it's a ball into Pjontek. It's an acrobatic
attempt from the number nine. Thought he'd scored. So did everyone else in the stadium.
Still 2-2 with less than five to go here. Berg with another poor ball. Will it be a costly one?
Comes up with the save after giving the ball away very cheaply indeed. Able to deny Ivan Toni
what would have been a winning goal. But at the end of an entertaining game it ends all square
as Aldo Hale and Alain Lee Saudi share the spoils on matchday two.
