Durham v Sheffield United Highlights _ Subway Women s League Cup 25_26

These two must be sick of the sight of each other. This is the sixth time in seven years that Durham have met Sheffield United in the Women's League Cup. The winless Blades needed an emergency loan just to have a goalkeeper tonight. The Ireland international Katie Keane makes her debut, having only joined from Leicester hours before kickoff. And it is the away side, the Blades, who get us underway, sending one high up towards that Durham back line. Early touch for Katie Keane on that emergency loan. Lovely first touch from Joy Ralph and she's played through Lauren Thomas here in one-on-one. And Anna King comes off better. Spread herself really well, the Durham goalkeeper. It's a corner to Sheffield United, in swinger as well. But it's a blue head that gets the ball away. Big pressure being applied by Thomas and Durham just can't clear their lines. Here's Grace Ede. Absolute box of tricks down that left-hand side. Good hands from the Blades goalkeeper. Corner to Sheffield United. Plenty of options in and around the edge of the box. In it comes. Out swinger is not quite dealt with and Ralph lashes the ball into the back of the net. What a strike that is. Snap volley from Joy Ralph. Her first goal in a Blades shirt. The crispest of strikes. Leila McFarlane spreads the ball out wide and gets it back. The cross comes in. Abby Jones finds herself in space but couldn't direct the head up. Sheffield United content to try and play the ball out from the back. Intercepted by Stobbs who will advance with the ball. Stobbs squares the ball. This is Hannah Blake. Lovely footwork and test the goalkeeper too. Pat down save from Keane. Leila McFarlane full of hard running. Real handful and she's won a Durham corner. In swinger comes in. It's in and I think it's gone in off the right back. An own goal. Leanne Cowan with her head in her hands and Durham a level at 1-1. Abby Jones on the swivel plays the ball in round the back. Eyre cuts the ball back but Keane comes out. Smothers the chance. It's a good burst from Sheffield United straight through the middle. Here come Durham. Watson gets her head up, cuts the ball back. Only cleared as far as Eyre and Lambert can curl one off the bench and causing problems Molly Lambert. And here she goes again. Molly Lambert is galloping forward and she's beaten her defender and the whistle has gone and indeed that is the end of the game. We will need a penalty shootout to solve this one. So a point apiece. Whoever wins the shootout will end the night with two. Poppy Pritchard on loan from Manchester City. Well saved. Keane diving to her right. Tilly Bristow chance to give the Blades the upper hands and does so. Well that is a surprise. Beth Heppel the most experienced player in the Durham team has shot wide. Butler strikes the crossbar. Molly Lambert to try and get Durham on the board and does so. So all square at Grace Foy puts Sheffield United ahead in the shootout. Lucy Watson levels it up. Wonderful penalty. Isla Phillips to apply the pressure. Another great penalty right in the top bin. So Becky Selicki must score and it's saved and Sheffield United take the bonus point winning it on spot kicks.
