Hello everyone, I am now in Vô Tích, Giang Tô.
Today, we will explore a very special embassy.
Inside this embassy, it is completely made of gold-plated mahogany.
Today, we will also find out who is the mastermind behind it.
Who can build a house with such gold-plated mahogany?
This embassy is located right in front of it.
This is the main gate.
This main gate, if compared to the gates of large embassies in the West,
is a bit different.
This place can also be considered a long-standing gate.
When it comes to Giang Tô, Tô Châu area,
we can see that the architecture here is a bit different.
Each place has its own characteristics.
How many words are on the gate?
Written as Lãng Lý Thế Gia.
The word Lý here means neighborhood.
And Lãng Lý Thế Gia means
humility, modesty.
This is the origin of this family.
This family has an ancestor,
which is Cao Gia.
The whole embassy of Cao Gia
was built in the direction of the North-South Diagonal.
There are three front and rear walls.
Inside, there is a hall, a large hall,
and the Vinh Quy gates.
In there, the main hall is the large hall.
This hall is very special
because it is built entirely of gold-plated mahogany.
The owner of this embassy is Cao Kiet,
an official of the Ming dynasty.
So far, the embassy has a history of nearly 500 years.
Currently, the architectural area is about 665 square meters.
It doesn't look big,
but in the past, it was certainly much larger.
Now let's explore this special embassy.
Now it looks like the total area is not big.
Maybe there are only a few large halls and the Vinh Quy gates.
The buildings in To Châu
all look old-fashioned,
This is the architectural feature of this place,
completely different from what we have seen in Sơn Tây.
Most of the embassies in Sơn Tây are built of brick,
but here, they are mainly built of wood.
The first building I saw was Tiên Sành.
The five-room area is where the host and the embassy are located.
So here, although it is Tiên Sành,
it is not the most important.
Because the previous host and embassy
were divided into many types,
in the form of a complex.
Tiên Sành is usually for
ordinary guests or ordinary friends.
Then inside is Đại Sành,
which is where the guests of the same location are accommodated,
or where the guests have a higher location.
In this place, everything has been renovated.
The top is also decorated with Nan Du Sinh Huy.
This Tiên Sành has certainly been renovated.
Behind Tiên Sành is Đại Sành.
Go and see.
Step in here.
Architecture.
Immediately see the difference.
This is the main building.
A wooden house with a golden frame.
In other places, it can be called a golden palace.
This place looks really different.
We look outside like a barge.
In fact, the whole house is five-storey.
The ancients often called it a dark room.
In feudal society,
numbers 5 and 9 often symbolize the emperor.
So we often see
the five-storey or nine-storey tombs
all have that meaning.
Moreover, everyone see the shape of this house.
It's really different.
In the middle is high, on both sides is low.
It looks very much like our temple.
Isn't it beautiful?
This is also suitable because the owner
is an official of our temple.
He is a priest.
It is said that the owner of this place
is the father of the emperor Gia Tĩnh.
That is, among the members of Gia Tĩnh,
there is a person who is the daughter of this master.
Looking at the construction,
you can see that it is all made of wood.
This whole building
is built with Nam Mộc Giác gold.
It's been more than 500 years,
but it's still intact.
It's really rare.
From here, we can see
the ancient pagoda,
which is very magnificent.
It's very powerful.
Now let's go inside and see.
Just looking from the outside,
you can see the old modernity.
This type of architecture
certainly uses a wooden frame,
not a nail,
because in the old days,
most of the houses were built that way.
Look at this wooden door.
It is also a witness of history.
I don't know if this door
is the original door,
or has been renovated later.
Inside, the feeling is clearly different.
The front part of the building
looks newer.
I feel like it used to be
renovated.
But you look at the building,
this whole building
can clearly see the traces of the old days.
Especially these large fences,
probably called fences.
I don't know much about these ancient buildings,
I don't study much.
You see, such a large wooden building
must be more than 1,000 years old.
The pillars below
are also about 1,000 years old.
The important thing is
on these pillars,
you can see clearly,
the marks are marked.
Let's look over here.
They used to be covered in gold.
You can draw patterns on it,
or gold leaves on it.
This is really unimaginable.
All this place has.
Because it's clearly different.
This is really precious.
You see,
even after more than 500 years,
these trees feel
like they've been here for about 10 years.
It looks very new.
Moreover,
the color of that tree
can still be seen very clearly.
These large buildings here,
I guess,
are at least 1,000 to 1,200 years old.
It must have looked very beautiful
I don't know how much it was covered in gold in the past.
In Son Tay,
we used to see a lot of very tall courtyards.
Do you see any difference here?
The architecture here
is like an upside-down bowl.
This is a feature of the Ming Dynasty.
The pillars are placed
on a round stone wall.
Very interesting.
This type of architecture is also quite rare.
As I said,
this is the Ming Dynasty style.
So where are the two rooms?
It's the two rooms at the two corners.
Here is one room,
over there is one room,
in the middle of the three rooms.
Did you find out
if this place was built?
This building is very interesting,
quite rare.
Let's go to the backyard
and take a look.
Everything here
is made of gold.
There is another room here.
It is what we just said
is one of the two rooms.
At first I thought
it was a room for the queen
or a room for storing things.
Unexpectedly,
this is the master's room.
The master's and concubine's rooms
are divided into two parts,
the guest room and the bedroom.
So the master may rest here.
This room
is the palace we just saw.
In the palace,
the trees are clearly
bigger than what we see outside.
This side is another room.
What is it for?
Oh, it's a library.
People used to value libraries a lot.
They were very careful about
creation,
creating a space full of culture,
reading books, writing poems,
painting,
like these words.
Especially when we look at some poems
by Trạng Nguyên,
the basic writing is like this,
very similar to print.
Now we have come to the back of the palace.
As you can see,
there are some inscriptions
of the Vinh Quy stone gate
and two stone lions.
This is also a strange place
in this palace.
Normally,
the door is facing south,
the main gate is facing south.
But here,
the main gate is facing north.
When we went in from the back,
it turned out to be the main gate.
Isn't this strange?
This is extremely rare.
So why is that?
It's because
this palace was given
by the emperor.
His daughter died in Beijing.
Therefore,
he gave the main gate to the north.
The direction of the word
is like the emperor's style.
There is another way to say it.
It is according to the view of feudalism.
This is also a way of summoning.
The gate is facing north
so that the soul of the girl
can return to her hometown from the north.
There are two stone lions in front.
Normally, the gate is facing south.
But here,
the gate is facing north.
The meaning is the same as above.
So we have learned
about the Great Palace of Taoism.
It can be said that
each tree, each stone
is a witness of time,
a witness to the prosperity of a family.
If you have a chance to come to Votich,
Giang-To,
don't forget to visit this place
to admire the beautiful architecture here.
Okay, guys.
That's all for today's video.
See you next time.
Goodbye.
