What happens when brothers argue and refuse to get along? 🌟 “The Bundle of Sticks” is a timeless Aesop’s fable that teaches children the power of unity, teamwork, and family love. This classic bedtime story is perfect for kids who enjoy fairy tales with meaningful lessons.
Long ago, there lived an old father with several sons. The brothers often quarreled and fought over little things, never getting along. No matter how many times the father asked them to be kind and live in peace, they ignored his words. One day, the wise father decided to teach them a lesson they would never forget.
He called his sons together and handed them a bundle of sticks tied tightly with rope. “Break it,” he said. Each son tried, but no matter how hard they pulled and pushed, the bundle would not break. Then the father untied the bundle and gave the sticks to his sons one by one. This time, each stick snapped easily in their hands. The father smiled and explained, “Alone, you are weak. But when you stand together, no one can break you.”

The Bundle of Sticks
Once there lived a kind father who had three sons. He loved them all very much, but he had a problem.
His sons were always quarreling. They argued about toys,
they argued about games, and they argued about whose turn it was to fetch water.
Their father watched them with a sad heart. If they are always fighting, he thought, they will never be strong.
One day he had an idea. He went into the woods and gathered a bundle of sticks.
He tied them together with a strong piece of rope. He called his sons to him.
I want to see who is the strongest, he said. He gave the bundle to his oldest son. Try to break this.
The oldest son tried with all his might. He pushed and he pulled. He grunted and he groaned, but the bundle would not snap.
Let me try, said the second son. He took the bundle and tried to bend it. He could not break it either.
The youngest son tried next. He was very strong, but even he could not break the bundle.
He gave it back to his father, puzzled. The father smiled.
He untied the rope and gave one single stick to each of his sons.
Now, try again, he said. Snap! Each boy broke his stick easily. They looked at their father in surprise.
You see, said the father gently, when you are all together and united, you are strong like the bundle. No one can harm you.
But when you are divided by quarrels, you are as weak as a single stick. The brothers looked at each other, finally understanding.
The very next day, their promise was put to the test.
A fierce storm rolled in, and a strong wind blew a heavy branch onto the roof of their cottage, causing a leak.
Rain began to drip, drip, drip inside.
We must fix it, said the oldest son. The second son climbed a ladder to the roof,
while the youngest passed him the tools. They worked together, quickly and safely.
Their father watched them, his heart filled with pride. He knew that together, his sons could face any challenge.
From that day on, they were not just brothers, but the very best of friends.
