2. Locate the transmission fluid pan and the drain plug. The pan is typically located under the vehicle and is attached to the transmission with several bolts.
3. Place a drain pan underneath the transmission fluid pan and remove the drain plug to allow the old ATF to drain out.
4. Once the old ATF has drained out, clean the transmission fluid pan and the gasket surface with a lint-free cloth.
5. Reinstall the drain plug and torque it to the manufacturer's specifications.
6. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick and remove it to allow air to escape during the refill process.
7. Using a funnel, slowly add new ATF to the transmission through the dipstick tube. Be sure to use the type and amount of ATF recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
8. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to circulate the new ATF throughout the transmission.
9. With the engine still running, check the transmission fluid level using the dipstick. Add more ATF as necessary to bring the level to the full mark on the dipstick.
10. Reinstall the dipstick and any other components that were removed.

It's important to consult a repair manual specific to your vehicle's make and model for detailed instructions and safety precautions before attempting any repairs on your own. Additionally, using high-quality ATF and a new transmission filter (if applicable) is crucial for ensuring proper transmission function.
