When you do Zoom, do you get a little bit dressed up?
I'm very lazy.
I am right now in my gracious kitchen at home.
It is home in London?
My husband works from home quite a lot but I escape to the office
and so he and the children are quite used to being here.
So describe the house that you have and the kitchen that you're in.
We bought our house 11 years ago and it is a not very beautiful 1950s
and then when we bought it the first thing that we did,
that we did was to knock down the back wall and turn this which was a courtyard
into a part of my kitchen.
So that's why it's so bright.
Have you got sort of, is there sort of skylights or?
Yes, so actually in this room, this part of the room, there is no,
there are no windows apart from, but there is a skylight
and then in that part over there which is the children's playroom, there is a window.
And I can see some really lovely, looks like sort of pale olive green leather
or is it maybe pea green leather?
And pea green leather, pea green leather which,
and this most beautiful bonquette which Matthew Bray, genius Matthew Bray made
nine years ago and this book, can you see this lovely bit?
He bought this most amazing man and a steam vending machine
and then just over a few weeks stretched and stretched and stretched and stretched
so you've got this beautiful solid wood timber curve
and then the bonquette underneath and then he helped me design,
I showed him a picture of the kind of Charlotte Heron bookshelf
and then we adapted it to work so it's got the same
Douglas fir along the front and then it's sort of cordoned.
And the cordons are lots of different colours, lots of different shades of green and yellow?
Lots of different shades of green. This one's called a false shamrock.
This is, oh this is my geranium cutting which I'm propagating.
It's got, yeah I think I need to plant it actually.
I think it's had its moment with it and then there's another geranium
and of course the lovely Robert Kind shade and a fish, a glove jug.
Have you been doing any extra bits to your home?
I bought a screen to plug my computer in and I absolutely love it.
I feel like a kind of banker because I have all these screens that I can go
and I'm really enjoying that.
Is there anything that you miss, what do you miss the most about the outside world?
I miss my colleagues, I miss my colleagues.
I think also there's that thing in your head that you just,
because it's, you've got to get on with it.
It's a bit like when you've got a client and they've got a certain sort of house,
you can't do anything about the house they've got, you just get on with it and you make it work.
So I feel a bit like that about this, this is what we're in and so
you've got to get on with it but I do really miss, I miss my friends and my colleagues.
What little things would you think that people could do to make that nicer?
I do think that it's really important to have space from each other
and I think it's really important that you separate your day and your night.
So I quite often have been working in our sitting room and then have lunch in our kitchen
and I suppose that's what we're missing now is any sense of variety.
I think by plants.
A lot of people have talked about nature,
whether it's trying to get some flowers in the house or whatever you can find.
Actually these pots we made where we go in sometimes, on the beach there's clay
and I did with my brother and I dug it up and then we made these pots with the kids
and then we didn't have a kiln so we just put them on the barbecue.
That's so creative!
Do you like to spy at people's houses?
I do, yeah.
I haven't noticed, the funniest thing I find is that because my husband works and
his view is of our children's playroom and a bit of the kitchen
and you can quite often hear him saying to people,
oh your room is very zen because they've got nothing behind them
and he's got all this clutter.
