Wild and domesticated horses.
An eternal ancestral bond.
Despite the world going through several transformations throughout the ages,
the wild horses continue to gallop freely through vast plains.
Their fangs to the wind, their legs raising clouds of dust as they run in groups,
highlight the magic of these beings so important to the history of humanity.
Led by a dominant stallion,
these animals, known for their strength and resistance,
are symbols of an undominated freedom.
Without fences to hold them,
they sail through the fields in search of water and food,
always in motion, instinctively alert.
The beating of the helmets against the ground echoes like the pulsing of the earth itself.
These wild horses, like the Mustang of North America or the Brumbis of Australia,
come from domesticated horses that, at some point in history,
returned to live in a wild state.
Despite now being wild,
these horses still maintain characteristics inherited from their domesticated ancestors,
the sociability and hierarchy within the group.
Despite many horses being considered wild,
they are actually descendants of domesticated animals that returned to free life.
However, there are species of horses that are genuinely wild,
like the Przewski horse.
Native to the steppes of Mongolia,
this species is the only truly wild horse that has never been domesticated.
Unlike Mustangs or Brumbis, which have an ancestry linked to man,
the Przewski horse has maintained a pure and wild lineage since ancient times.
Small and robust, with a short and erect mane,
this horse survived in arid and extreme environments,
being a living relic of a past where wild horses dominated the plains of Eurasia.
Its resistance and isolation made it an emblematic species in the preservation of fauna and fauna.
While wild horses run free,
their domesticated relatives share a deep history with humans.
Domesticated horses were, and still are,
faithful partners in wars, travel, agriculture and sport.
From the first signs of domestication in the Eurasian steppe,
to the great civilizations that arose with the help of these animals,
they not only transported warriors,
but also pulled plows and carriages,
paving the way for human development.
Domesticated horses are extremely versatile.
Some are bred for speed and elegance,
like the horses of Corrida Puro Sangue,
while others, like the Clydesdales and Percherons,
impress by their strength in heavy work.
And despite their lives surrounded by care and structures,
there are still times when the domesticated demonstrate
that same free spirit of wild horses,
like when galloping in an open field,
feeling the same ancestral energy that connects both worlds.
Taking care of domesticated horses is essential
to ensure their health, well-being and longevity.
Offering adequate, rich food and nutrients
is essential to maintain their energy and strength.
In addition, rest is crucial for them to recover
after intense physical activity, avoiding injuries and fatigue.
Respect for the animal must also be at the center of the relationship with it,
treating it with patience and understanding, recognizing that,
despite its usefulness, the horse is a living being
that deserves care and dignity in all its interactions with humans.
Both, wild and domesticated, belong to the same family,
the Equidae, which includes not only horses,
but also deers and zebras.
They all share notable characteristics,
such as the ability to run quickly to escape predators
and the social structure based on groups.
The adaptability of this family is impressive,
while the horses stand out for their versatility,
the zebras are specialists in survival in arid environments.
The donkeys, however, with their strength and endurance,
are still indispensable in various parts of the world.
The Equidae family is a notable example of how nature and humans
can shape the fate of a species,
dividing it between wild freedom and the deep bond of domestication.
Whether in the open field or in the stables,
the majesty of the Equidae is undeniable,
and its history continues to fascinate and inspire.
