The Farmer and the Golden Eggs
Once upon a time, there was a poor farmer. He worked hard in his small farm, but earned
very little. One morning, he found a strange duck near the river.
The duck looked gentle, so the farmer took it home.
Next day, the duck laid a shiny golden egg. The farmer was surprised and happy.
Every day, the duck gave him one golden egg. The farmer sold the eggs in the market.
Slowly, he became richer and richer. But after some time, the farmer grew greedy.
He thought, why wait for one egg every day? The duck must have many golden eggs inside.
So, he killed the duck to get them all at once. But inside, there were no golden eggs at all.
The farmer cried, Oh no! I have lost my wonderful duck!
From that day, the farmer had no golden eggs, and he became poor again.
Moral
Greed can destroy the good things we already have.
